Since the NEJ mod is associated with The Big Picture as an optional install, I thought that it would be OK to post this question here. If I'm wrong, I'll be glad to find a NEJ forum.
Anyway, I quote from a readme for NEJ:

"Additionally, she will become a "continious" character. When the party returns to Amn and Imoen is taken to spellhold, all the XP and changes made to the character will transfer over to the same character  you pick up at Spellhold."

What exactly does that mean? Does it mean that Imoen will "keep pace" XP-wise while she is in Spellhold and when I recover her, she will be roughly equivalent in level as my main character? A couple of years ago, I remember being dissapointed that she was so far below my party in levels when we freed her.

Continuous was used in two situations. Continuous for BGT to BP is moving the NPCs to Jon's Dungeon and else where with all the skills and XP that you worked so hard to develop in BGT. In Imoen's case, Continuous is on a similar principle. In the "vanilla" version of SoA, Imoen leaves you to go to Spellhold. When you pick her back up, she is actually a different character than the one who left you. Different down to the CRE file used.

So suppose you have her learn all the spells that you find in Jon's dungeon. Guess what? She doesn't have them when you get her at Spellhold! Also, at Spellhold some XP is given to her to try to match her to your new level but as you discovered, it isn't enough XP.

NeJ changes this by using a command in the game to actually move her CRE file to Spellhold, instead of creating the other CRE file once you get there. So now, if she learned those spells, she has them. In plain SoA, this isn't such a big deal but with NeJ added to Jon's dungeon, you could go up another level and she could learn even more spells. All of that would have been wasted once you got to Spellhold. With NeJ's option to make her continuous, she will have those additional spells and proficiencies that you may have given her just before the Cowled Wizards took her away.

you could go up another level

...or three ;) :D

...and only with NeJ2.

[EDIT] Yes, she receives additional XP in Asylum when joins your party that dependents on you party's level.

I just wanted to add in: since now there are many other mods covering the continuous immy bit, I have removed this support from the BP package (I've offered this since Autumn 2003). For unless they are 100% coordinated efforts, they will cause more harm than good when mixed together.

Hmm, let's see. NeJ, of course. BP, until recently. Classic BGT, but it was based on my system for BP (and BP-BGT). Imoen's Romance. I know there are a couple more, just cannot recall ATM. I think the only ones that were compatible were bp and bgt, because the same guy wrote the files for both. :whistling: NeJ and Imoen's seem to be compatible on this score (didn't Hlidskialf do the initial work on both, long ago?), but I have not seen much of the Immy romance DLG running (I have IR and NeJ2 both installed).
