Still though, the more Human/Elvish NPC mods I see, the less I am interested in them. There should be plenty of room for Humanoid Storylines. In fact it might be nice to have an Evil Ogre that could join your party. Anywho, just a thought. I know people will do what they will do.
Edit: I also notice that most of the NPCs in these mods are good. Not enough Evil People.

But, to tell you the truth, I'd play with them regardless of their race.
Because they are well-written. And enjoyable.

I would have to agree here, yeah. Consistency is a good thing, and I don't think I could take an NPC which don't have a paperdoll similar to other NPCs. It makes them stick out too much...I hate how you canoot have paperdolls for them on the inventory screen.

One thing for prospective modders to remember is that forms accessible by shapeshifting, polymorph, shapechange and so on do have paper dolls which can be used.

Well, people tend to mod NPCs they find interesting, and that's often humans and elves. You can ask for other NPC races, but the modders will still do as they feel like doing. Plus, there are already mods out there with other races of NPCs than humans and elves, e.g. Kari the Kobold.
That's basically what I'm doing with Arkalian, who's a half-elf, but at least not a paladin, sorcerer, or [edit]thief[/edit, where the hell did I get "kensai?"] (fighter/mage, with an emphasis on two-handed weapons rather than the seemingly ubiquitous dual-wielding thing). Her personality isn't suited to a half-ling or gnome, and her past and magic use don't really fit well for a dwarf, either...plus I can't envision her with a beard *tries, runs away whimpering x.x*. Same for the other sorta-anthropoid (human-shaped) races I'm familiar with. And making her some sort of weird hybrid would have been rather gratuitous. I'm not entirely sure why she "feels" better as a half-elf than a human (other than the time scales involved in her past, I suppose), but she wouldn't make a good full-blood elf, for a variety of reasons...
And she's chaotic good, for reasons critical to the character concept. Terribly sorry. ;)

"Tyranny is a quiet thing at first, a prim and proper lady pursing her lips and shaking her head disapprovingly, asking, well what were you doing (wearing that dress, walking home at that hour, expressing those inappropriate thoughts) anyway? It's subtle and insidious, disguised as reasonable precautions which become more and more oppressive over time, until our lives are defined by the things we must avoid. She's easy enough to agree with, after all, she's only trying to help -- and yet she's one of the most dangerous influences we face, because if she prevails, it puts the raping, robbing, axe-wielding madmen of the world in complete control. Eventually they'll barely need to wield a thing, all they'll have to do is leer menacingly and we fall all over ourselves trying to placate them." -godlizard

Drow, I think, are waay to common.
I'm suprised no-one's come up with a Genasi or Aasimar NPC yet. ^.~
On another note; Isn't Charname technically a Tiefling/Fey'ri? O.o; Sure, he/she doesn't have exactly the right special abilities, but the blood of an evil diety is in his/her veins, thus making him/her Planetouched, to an extent. But I don't know... perhaps it doesn't count if the child was conceived whilst the deity was in human form? I can't find anything else about gods producing offspring during the time of troubles.

In fact it'd kinda be nice to see some Devil or Demon NPCs. And Yes, I would very much like to see an aasimar or genasi. There are Waaaaaaaaay to many Tiefling Mods. And, I never cared for them.
