Hello,Ascension64! If there's something that I believe it's a real spoiler in any game are cheap deads. Unfortunately Baldur's Gate has one such. Namely when the party meets Shoal, the siren who's going to force you into a lethal kiss. Since it's often mainchar being kissed the first time, this means a very sad and totally abrupt game over. Is there anything we can do to prevent this in some way ? The ideal would be to give the chance of not accepting her kiss through dialogues option. Is this doable or you believe it might not just be worth the effort ? Thanks!

I seen mod that changes the way the game replies to death/petrification/imprisoning of main char. Not sure about the name tho. Still as soon as MC is Bhaalapawn he disintegrates upon death and cant be ressed. IIRC.

I have been wondering why the death of mainchar must mean end of the game. All the other party members can be resurrected. Mainchar is a special character as it's got the blood of Bhaal in his veins but can this be a reason why he/she can't be resurrected ? I don't buy this.

In my opinion, the game over sequence should only appear once the whole party is annihilated.

Also I'm now wondering if the Raise Dead spell follows the P&P description. Raise Dead and Resurrection are two different spells. The latter being much more powerful and not costing a point of Constitution to the one being taken back to life.

Both need to roll a constitution survival check however. Failing that, resurrection is no longer possible.

To me, I think there is here material for discussion...I welcome people's opinion and suggestions...

Bhaalspawn cannot be resurrected - they disintegrate when they die (or that's how it's supposed to be, in any case).

True, this is exactly what this famous "hand" movie shows.

But this does not explain the fact that Imoen can be killed and raised indefinitly without any problem along the trilogy. :whistling:

If the main char is killed in combat, the game should end. This is hardcoded, no mod can change that.

Modders can change some pseudo-death like petrification and imprisonment that can be reversed by another member of the party and should not count like a death ; look for "The Bigg Tweaks" in this forum. :)

About Shoal, I agree that it could/should be added to the BGT-Tweaks. Several possibilities :
- Shoal always choose another NPC in the party (but will not work in solo game)
- When Shoal talks to PC, give the opportunity to refuse or to ask her to kiss somebody else of the party
- Replace the death by a effect like the spell "Harm" (PC affected get only 1 HP).

That's exactly what we felt and exactly why TPT was first initiated.

Oh one thing...how have you figured out that the Bhaalspawns should disintegrate when they die ? The game over sequence could just be a fancy way to present the death of PC without really meaning that the body turns immediately into dust so that doesn't prove anything...I just wonder if you had other sources to back up the disintegration teory...Does Sarevok die being disintegrated too by the way ? (my memory, as usual, sucks...)

Yes : BG1 final movie shows that. We see golden particles leaving Sarevok's dead body and reaching a "room", with many statues, some broken but most still standing up. They probably represent all Bhallspawns. Then Sarevok's statue explodes.

Exlamation
CHARNAME is unusual Bhaalspawn...he's one of the most powerfull...and the one of which the prophecy told. All bhaalspawn's souls travel after death to Nine Hells...as there is a famous throne of Bhaal where bhaal essence is stored. (all souls <of death CoB> are trapped within slayer shells...as we know it from end of SoA)
BUT!!
Imoen can die and she doesn't disintegrate...why? Because special bond is made between her and charname..he can't let her soul to be absorbed by Bhaal (the bond we recognise in SoA...and later in ToB).
Also by sacrificing part of his/her soul charname can ressurect Sarevok...no bhaalspawn, but common human...still deathbringer.

Heh...but true reason of all of that is...Bioware/Black Isle story continuity :)
