Oh my...

My jaws have fallen (and still are there) to the ground when I've got to see that!

How did you exactly do that ? I mean...The Avatar of the Mages are now absolutely astonishing!

I have no words to comment what I have seen...And they even come with different Avatars and relative animations for different races and sex!

I recommend everyone to install this component. For me, a real MUST!

There is a problem though...The unarmored thieves and bards still keep their "old" avatar. No hood...They still look just they did before installing the component. Any idea why, Ascension64 ?

Thanks for what you have brought us!

Something called "WARNING: Patches BGMain.exe"

I'll look at this one. They worked for me when I tried it, but doesn't mean it works for everyone else. Thanks for reporting it in.

I'd be grateful if somebody else would test this feature and reports if thieves' avatars are unchanged just like in my experience.

Ascension64,

your component should also apply to bards, right ? They, like thieves, are rogues and I'd find it very appropriate for them to share the same avatar...

Ascension64,

just to make extra sure that no external Mod could be interfering I repeated the experiment installing just BD-WeiDu 1.5, BGT-WeiDu 1.00 and BGT-Tweaks 3.

Same result. Thieves still come with the original avatar in my game.

BTW: All my mods are compatible right? I've got all the newest versions.

It wouldn't be a compatibility issue, so don't worry about that.

Update on this: I partially managed to fix the issue. Unfortunately, the hooded avatar 'loses' the hood as soon you put armor on and then take it back off again, which I don't seem to understand. There is a workaround, but it will cause not only thieves and bards, but all other non-mage classes to have the hood as well.

So, what would you like - to hood, or not to hood (all non-mage classes that is; mage classes still get the super robe look)?

Ascension64,

thanks for investigating further into the problem.

Let me see if I understood correctly. With the workaround, every class will be hooded, no matter if they have or not armour on (in that case the component becomes "Hooded Party" ( :) ) and this change wouldn't affect at all mages and sorcerers.

Otherwise you can introduce a fix which will make only thieves and bards hooded as long as they wear no armour (and for bards this is pretty much likely). Once they put a armour on, they lose the hood for ever even if they later take it off.

Am I right in my assumption ?

There is another question...Have you tried to equip an elven chain on a mage and see what happens ? Later in BG2, you get such a component (in Suldanesslar, if I remember well...) which a Mage will put on...Would this mean losing the hooded robed look ?

Thanks!

When unarmoured, the mage class' hooded robes stay hooded. When unarmoured to start with, thief/bard classes are hooded, but as soon as you put any piece of armour on, then take it off again, the unarmoured thief/bard becomes permanently unhooded. so you are right.

The answer to the Elven Chain is that any piece of armour that is equipped that doesn't supply a hood will result in the mages looking like they don't have a hood. This even occurs for equipping, say, a Mage of Fire Resistance, or similar, which intrinsically don't specify a hood. I could actually change this behaviour.

Ascension64,

in my opinion we should do everything to keep the mages' robed and hooded look preserved, no matter what you put on. So, since you say you could do something about it, this is absolutely the way to go.

About the hot question instead, I would perhaps make a couple of experiments with TuTu's unarmored thieves component before coming back to it. I want to see how that one behaves. I will update this very soon!

UPDATE: TuTu's component behaves like this: all avatars that are unarmored wear a hood. When they equip an armor, they lose it but get it back when they take the armor off. Bards and thieves keep their hoods always.

Ascension64,

I believe the best would be to exactly emulate this behaviour. We don't care much that fighers and clerics start with a hood because after three seconds they will wear an armour and at the same time Bards and Thieves will continue wearing a proper hood even with an armour on...

OK, and should I also rename the component to "Salk's hoods"? *j/k* :P

Ascension64,

I do know you have worked hard on this component for my sake and I am infinitely grateful for this!

I am sure that many other people are going to install it because it's just wonderful and makes a great addition to the Tweaks!

By the way, yes...The component name should now reflect the new changes..."Salk's hoods" won't give the idea but thanks for mentioning me! :D What about "Hooded rogues and robed mages" ?

Thanks again, pal!

P.S. If you like to take a look at how TuTu handled it, it's in the TuTu Fixpack...

This may be off topic, but is there a way to change avatars within the game. I hate that when I dual class a fighter to a mage they forever walk around in the basic avatar tunic despite whatever cool robe I may have equiped. I don't know if there is some CLUAConsole:changecurrentavatar command or not, but it would be cool if there was.

I do this always to my fighter-mage. You may edit your PC in the saved gamed with NearInfinity. Just change his ANIMATION ID to the desired value, and you are set. Take a look at my screenshot.

I, too, use Vlad's method. Perhaps next time I play this will be unnecesarry with the BGT tweaks. ;)

Just install the Avatar Morphing script component that comes with G3 and TuTu Tweak. Easy to use and much more practical than editing it manually...

Well, it actually takes 30 sec to open NI, change the ANIMATION ID, and save the game. So I cannot comment about *practicity* of this. It's even not a question of laziness because installation process on your side also requires some efforts.

[EDIT] "Avatar Morphing Script" - wow! Such a name!
