This spawned from some thought in the Orphan Characters thread, about the lack of certain races in BG2, modded or otherwise. So I thought up a couple of ideas for some Clerics of the missin' races, because I for one find Religions intriguing and because many complain how annoyed they are with the bioware choices. If desired I can put up a little more info, or I can wait until it's polled and get some more info then. Workable Portraits have been included (But I really like Araila's, Rixy/Jarin's would need to be altered somewhat or scrapped completely)

Name: Rixy/Jarin Slythistle
Gender: Male
Race: Hin (Halfling)
Align: NG
Class: Cleric
Deity: Sheela Peryroyl

STATS: I had good reasoning for all of these but my computer froze and I lost them and I don't wanna type them out again
Str: 11-12
Dex: 15-16
Con: 14-15
Int: 14-15
Wis: 16-17
Cha: 13-14

Total: 83-89

Personality/History: Rixy once followed the dogma of Urogalan, god of earth and death for the Hin. However he found the grimness unfulfilling. The earth brought a quiet joy to his heart but the constant reminder of death sucked the joy out of it. Plus he liked shoes, and Urogalan preferred barefooted worship. And so it was that the Green Sister claimed his heart with her love of Nature and her shows of life and love. This zest for life became his own; he never forgot the teachings of Urogalan, and what was to come, and perhaps because of it he chose to live with the fullness of all the joy that life could bring, as well as to help others to do the same. It was during this time that he was hit with the common wanderlust jitters that most Hin face at least once in their lifetimes. So without much else he set off with his brother Patrick. During their travels the two met a honourable young Hin, who stole Patricks heart. Rixy/Jarin was pleased with the match and when they met the Halflings family in Trademeet, he opted to stay while the two traversed, getting himself mixed into the crazy romance there. He's still there, though Mazzy and Patrick have asked more than once if he wished to travel again. He's responded with a twinkle in his eye, "I know you've found your love, brother of mine. It's time I help some other young lad. I might even find so fine a lass myself."

Favorite quote: Why Anomen, we should be the best of friends! After all Sheela doesn't like Talos nor does helm, and that whole enemy of my enemy thing. And even if you ignore that, Sheela is good friends with Chauntea and Mielikki, who both hate Talos. And they're good friends of Lathander, who likes Ilmatar, both of whom hate Talos. And Ilmatar makes the Triad with Tyr and Torm. And since Tyr also hates Talos, Torm must too. And Torm and Helm are like peas in a pod. See, we should be peas in a pod too!

Name:Araila Gildred
Gender: Female
Race: Dwarf
Align: CN
Class: (Fighter/)Cleric
Deity: Haela Brightaxe

STATS:
Str: 15-17
Dex: 10-12
Con: 15-17
Int: 9-10
Wis: 15-16
Cha: 11-12

Total: 75-84

Personality/History: Araila ain't much a thinking conversing gal, nor much of one to waste time talking about the past when there could be fighting to be had. As it is she's a lot like Korgan in that she revels in battle, especially when there's carnage involved and is as likely to start a fight as talk to a person, perhaps more-so. She doesn't much care for thieves, or whatever she considers dishonourable folk. When she does manage to talk about her past she lets slip that she was raised in her clan stronghold and that she took interest in Haela as a young girl. She gets into further detail when she gets to battles, and you doubt any regular man or woman could stomach her gory descriptions.

Rixy/Jarin

He sounds amazing. I'd like to see both go forward, but I think Rixy/Jarin would really add a welcome breath of levity.

Cool. I'll of course have to decide what to name him if/when I go forward with him.

I was going to add another option of get a life, but I posted before I got there. I usually have a extra option so I'm not forced to vote on one thing or another. But anyways, continue voting people. I'll be watching YOU!

We have a tie!

Anyways quick question. When I posted this on another forum it was said that Patrick may have been Human. Is there anything concrete either way?

If Patrick was human it's the first anyone here has heard of it. They probably just didn't have a halfling-sized Shadow avatar.

Patrick's shade drops a halberd (Duskblade) and a longbow when he dies. Do those sound like good weapon choices for a halfling?

I'd like to say I'm clever enough to have put that together myself, but I stole it from Domi/Ashara/Guest.

You know, it really doesn't matter about whether Patrick was a halfling. You could say they were foster brothers, or that they were good friends, or you could actually look up Pala's boyfriend's name, which might make for a good interjection when he shows up to tell Mazzy about Pala ("You idiot! I don't believe you could have been so insensitive, you dolt. She's the best thing *you're* ever going to find." etc.)

Actually I gave Mazzy both weapons before. And beyond dropping arguments is there any more evidence. Afterall Firkraag drops Carsomyr. (There a lot of other, probably better examples but I haven't played BG2 in too long to start listing them.

Firkraag presumably wasn't wielding Carsomyr, but merely keeping it on his person. Although, given the lack of pockets in a typical dragon's scales, it might be wise to derail this train of thought right about here.

There's nothing in the game that says that a halfling can't use a halberd, but the mechanics are scary.

I am 5'8" tall, which means I have roughly a 5'8" armspan, fully extended. With a decent strength, I could reasonably be expected to wield something 1.5 times that, or 8'6", in length. Halberds run 7 to 9 feet on average, so as a human, I'd be fine with all but the longest of them.

A 4' tall halfling would be able to wield something up to 6 feet long, which excludes halberds.

Let's take the longbow. Strung, they are about 6' long. To be able to use one, the draw would have to be 30-33". With my 68" armspan, I can draw 31" (never mind that I probably lack the strength to pull a traditional longbow). With the halfling's 48" armspan, he'd never manage it.

Having said all this, I urge you to make your decisions based on the story you want to tell, not my numbers crunching.

Here's another hypothesis: human/halfling pairings could probably be expected to result in more or less halfling sized offspring. If Rixy/Jarin and Patrick were half-brothers, their common father could be a human, whereas Patrick's mother could be a human and Rixy/Jarin's could be a halfling.

There are a lot of ways you could go with this.

If you're talking romance, I never suggested it. If you're talking party that's extremely racial sexist.

JK Play as ya wish, but I'm telling ya Dwarves don't just pop out of the ground.

I rather liked it as well, though it needed a couple scars.

We'll see about maybe making her once Rixy is done. Depends mainly on how much trouble I have.
