Anyone have any idea which file controls the "inparty" "not in party" flag setting when you reform your party? I've got a mega install that, up to this little problem, has been working great. No stutters no missed dialogs .... in other words it's been great, then I reformed my party and dropped Xan, he didn't initiate the normal kickout dialog and when I tried to talk to him I got "this person has nothing to say to you" . After I saved I went into nearinfinity and checked the save game. sure enough he was still flagged as "in party" and using xanj.dlg. I changed him to "not in party" and changed his dialog to xanp.dlg and then reloaded the game and initiated dialog with him. he then went thru the normal kickout dialog and after it finished I was able to talk to him about rejoining. Help to get this straight would be appreciated. Also is that the correct dialog designation? I thought the xxxxP files were suppose to be the "in Party" dialogs" and the xxxxJ were for "not in party" but then I'm not sure that's why I'm asking here :) here's my Weidu log:

have you solved the moon blade quest for xan when you freed him and have you talked to him after that ? did your reputation drop to less than 3 for a while when he was in your party ?

Didn't do the moodblade quest prior to dropping him and my rep was 14 or better while he was with me, had the same thing happen with Minsc/Dynaheir afterwards so it isn't just a single person quest and with the Minsc/Dynaheir I had finished the Dynaheir journal quest before reforming them. Just to check I immediately tried to rejoin them after the drop but had the same problem with them as with Xan. Checking with NI showed the same problem and I fixed it the same way.

i had the same problem and am surprised that many others are not reporting it. anyhow check out the following thread for what worked for me:

http://www.shsforums...showtopic=26851

till now i have no idea as to the implications (side-effects) of the modifications i made mentioned in that thread.

P files for "Post-files" - what an NPC says when they are no longer in the party (which hapens *before* they talk to you - they are actually not in the party when they come up to you asking about where to go, etc.)

J files for "Joined-files" - what an in-party PC calls on while in party, erferenced by direct state calls or clicking on the player with the "talk" icon active ("Forced-Talk", or "Player-Initiated-Dialogue")

B files for "Banter-files" - what an NPC calls on using the banter engine, or directly-called states.

the NPC name dialogue files - "pre-joining" files, or what an NPC calls on when you first meet them.

Sounds like one or more mods in the setup are not correctly changing the dialogue files when the party is reformed. We don't have this on Tutu, but i will check again on BGT to make sure it isn't BG1 NPC - each time an NPC leaves they should be setting everything (dialogues, scripts, etc, etc) to default script and P file.

I did check, and on the surface it does not appear to be The BG1 NPC Project (internal version May 16).
unfortunatley, following the link above, it is possible that somehow we add the check to DPLAYER2.BCS - I will research further. At least, I have notes indicating that on a straight BGT then BG1 NPC install, this behavior did not occur. I do not have a BP install right now (working on it) but it is probably best to check with each one of the mods in question on their home forums, and just make sure that everyone involved is resetting the dialogue files correctly.

Confirmed - we do not change DPLAYER2.BCS on BGT.

Code;
ACTION_IF (FILE_EXISTS_IN_GAME ~FW0100.are~) THEN BEGIN
	/* Cleaning J files from junk states */
	COMPILE ~BG1NPC/Core/DLG/X#JFIX_TUTU.D~

	/* Changing DPLAYER2.bcs to stop BreakingPoint SDNS from hanging Tutu Only */
	COPY_EXISTING ~DPLAYER2.bcs~ ~override~
	  DECOMPILE_BCS_TO_BAF
		REPLACE_TEXTUALLY ~!InParty(Myself)~ ~False()~
		REPLACE_TEXTUALLY ~ChangeAIScript("",DEFAULT)~ ~~
		REPLACE_TEXTUALLY ~SetGlobal("IHATEYOUALL","LOCALS",0)~ ~~
	  COMPILE_BAF_TO_BCS
	BUT_ONLY_IF_IT_CHANGES

	EXTEND_TOP ~DPLAYER2.bcs~ ~BG1NPC/Core/BAF/X#DPLYR2.BAF~
  END ELSE BEGIN /* BGT Versions */
	 /* Cleaning J files from junk states */
	COMPILE ~BG1NPC/Core/DLG/X#JFIX_BGT.D~

	/* Changing DPLAYER2.bcs to stop BreakingPoint SDNS from hanging */

how about this code from the bg1npc tp2 (line no. 462):

END ELSE BEGIN /* BGT Versions */

 /* Cleaning J files from junk states */
COMPILE ~BG1NPC/BGT/DLG/X#JFIX.D~

/* Changing DPLAYER2.BCS to stop BreakingPoint SDNS from hanging */
COPY_EXISTING ~DPLAYER2.BCS~ ~override~
  DECOMPILE_BCS_TO_BAF
	REPLACE_TEXTUALLY ~!InParty(Myself)~ ~False()~
	REPLACE_TEXTUALLY ~ChangeAIScript("",DEFAULT)~ ~~
	REPLACE_TEXTUALLY ~SetGlobal("IHATEYOUALL","LOCALS",0)~ ~~
  COMPILE_BAF_TO_BCS
  BUT_ONLY_IF_IT_CHANGES
EXTEND_TOP ~DPLAYER2.BCS~ ~BG1NPC/BGT/BAF/X#DPLYR2.BAF~

the file BG1NPC/BGT/BAF/X#DPLYR2.BAF is the one that contains the endofbg1 check that i had mentioned in the link above.

Well then, it is probably an older version of us!

Can you check that the tp2 you have actually is the correct one? I am rechecking mine, and my version does have that stuff removed - plus, it does not reference any BGT subdirectories, as that was dropped with the cross-platform variable setup.

I need to get a Beta4 out soon, but before continuing, check your pms for instructions on downloading a repaired internal (this should not have been present past the Beta3 release...)

If that is in the tp2, it is *definitely* us!!!

Actually, just to be sure, if you would be willing, I am updating the internal version now. It will include a setup-test.exe

If you run this, it will have no effect on your install, it just converts a test batch of files. If you then go into the BG1NPC folder and find the folder PLATFORM, .rar or .zip up a copy for me, I can get a BGT version of files to recheck against. Then uninstall the TEST and go ahead with the regular install. It should resolve this problem.

A reminder - you need to uninstall BG1 NPC, delete the tp2 and the folder and the .DEBUG, then extract the new stuff.

the tp2 is definitely the correct one. its called bg1npc.tp2 and is in my bg2 home folder.

i can surely run the setup-test.exe and provide you with the archive of the platform folder. will the download from the link you gave on PM include setup-test.exe?

however, about uninstalling and reinstalling with the latest version of bg1npc, will that ruin my existing save games? i have gotten quite far in the game and would really like to continue to the end of tob atleast this one time. besides, tweaking dplayer2.bcs has corrected the kick out behaviour in my install for now.

please let me know if i can be of any other help. thanks.

in which folder am i supposed to run the setup-test.exe? in the game folder or bg1npc folder? i tried extracting the exe into the game folder (only 1 file) and when i ran it, it complained of missing tp2 file.

You need to extract the whole package. The .tp2 is in the new BG1 NPC subfolder, and it expects to see the whole mod ready to install in the game directory!

The .exe is just the program; it needs the mod in place to work.
I would suggest finishing your games first - i never like reinstallation of dialogue fles. In this case, it probably would do no harm, as most of it is BG1 content, but better safe than sorry!

When you get finished up, uninstall and destroy the old one, put in the new one, and you should be fine!

alright. one last thing, here's how my tweaked dplayer2.bcs looks now (this is only the revlevant part to party kick out):

IF
	!InParty(Myself)
	HPGT(Myself,0)
THEN
	RESPONSE #100
		SetLeavePartyDialogFile()
		StartDialogueNoSet(Player1)
		ChangeAIScript("",DEFAULT)
END

IF
	False()
	HPGT(Myself,0)
THEN
	RESPONSE #100
		SetLeavePartyDialogFile()
		Dialogue(Player1)
END

IF
	BreakingPoint()
THEN
	RESPONSE #100
		SetGlobal("IHATEYOUALL","LOCALS",1)
		SetLeavePartyDialogFile()
		Wait(1)
		StartDialogueNoSet(Player1)
END

IF
	Global("IHATEYOUALL","LOCALS",1)
	InParty(Myself)
THEN
	RESPONSE #100
		SetLeavePartyDialogFile()
		Wait(1)
		StartDialogueNoSet(Player1)
		LeaveParty()
END

is this ok, or should i make some changes for it to work correctly?
