Hello everyone in the asylum! :woot:

I am currently working on an NPC who is an orc. The problem that I have run into is that he has no paper doll. I was wondering if there was a way to give him one.
As well, is there a way to give your NPC a sidekick (i.e. a goblin) who travels with the party and can be told to fight, can hold dialogues etc, but doesn't count as one of the six party members?

Thank you!

The paperdoll animation is associated with the animation type, so unless you use a half-orc animation for him, you're stuck with no paperdoll.

The second part of your question is a lot more hopeful. Yes, it is possible to have a tag-along goblin following the character around. Getting a creature to talk is just a matter of assigning it a script, a DV and a dialogue file. As for how you would go about this, I'm a little sketchy on the details, but other modders have done it. Azure NPC has a wolf (Sharo, I think), following her around. Every Mod and Dog has a wolf following the PC about. You could examine those to get an idea of the scripting involved.

Perhaps he could be scripted as a familiar? I like the idea of an ikkle goblin jumping in and out of your pack when you want him :)

Dorotea used Irenicus' paperdoll somehow, so it is possible. Look up The Longer Road and Irenicus' cre file.

I don't know how it's done, but the familiars are 'NPC sidekicks' so you might have to look there, for the coding for the goblin. Well, the orcs don't have the paper doll, so why not go with half-orc. As the orcs aren't allowed by the game to be PCs. And besides, the orcs have short life.

Thanks guys!
I will take a look at Azure, consider giving him a half-orc animation and dig into the longer road. Hopefully the combination of these three will give me my answer!

As long as there is an animation, you can give a paperdoll. I made a shabby one for a shadowthief, you just need to look at the files. Check Moinese (sp?) avatars, there are files there fro the ninja that you can use as a starting point. The artwork is painful, though, there may be better programs out there than your average bam editor.

Good luck
