In the Forgotten Realms, humans think half-elves look like elves and elves think half-elves look like humans. Since I Photoshopped myself into a goblin, the Bioware portrait of Jaheira on my computer has mysteriously changed. She now looks human -- like my Grade 11 math teacher, to be precise. God, she's gorgeous.
Does this mean goblins are more closely related to elves than humans?
There are SHS people who identify so strongly with elves that they must surely think Jaheira looks like any old human, and we all look the same, don't we? Do they think Drzzt looks like Denzel Washington? Viconia does.
How about SHS people who come from other planets? I'm thinking of most modders, for example. Do they see Haer'Dalis as an exotic being or someone who looks like the local real estate broker? Do they see Boo as a small person and Minsc as a Wookie?

Racially believable NPC portraits

I did battle with monsters, and they became me, and when I gazed into the abyss, the abyss looked away shyly.

Stop hogging the joint and pass it over here man!
Baruk Khazâd! Khazâd ai-mênu!
Oh, squiggly line in my eye fluid. I see you lurking there on the periphery of my vision. But when I try to look at you, you scurry away. Are you shy, squiggly line? Why only when I ignore you, do you return to the center of my eye? Oh, squiggly line, it's alright, you are forgiven.

Around here we call it Durban Poison, ganja (West Indian?) or dagga (with a -ch sound as in Scottish). It costs about 15 American cents per joint. That's probaby cheaper than cigarettes woud be in most countries, but more fattening because of the induced munchies. Now shoot me if you like, but I much prefer the effect of a few beers.Stop hogging the joint and pass it over here man!

15 cents??? That's somewhat of a scandel. Don't smoke the stuff myself like but I'm sure it costs alot more then regular cigarettes over here. Maybe I should point this little numerical fact out to a few people and rejoice as they burst into tears. haha
