I'm sure this criticism has been made before, but placing the BG2 Lazarus' magic store in this mod is unbalancing for BG1. Similarly, the gargoyle boots in another store on Restenford. I hope this doesn't come off snide, but it's laughable. I appreciate the work that went into making the areas, and realizing the AD&D module. But all that hard work is cheapened by including a candy store of uber spells and some extremely powerful items.

Play balance should be the most important consideration. Imvho.

Lemernis,

The stuff does cost gold. Who said you had to buy/use any of the stuff? If you are playing a Mega Mod with GCE1, DSotSC, NTotSC you might need a few of the things. Oh and it has been toned down already. Not all of us are good players and might need a bit of help. You get Sooo much gold with all the mods out now you need a way to get the players to spend it on something.

Well, where I'm coming from is ask yourself this: Would any respectable tabletop PnP DM introduce items like that in a campaign deisgned for PCs level 2-4? No, of course not. That's poor gameplay.

Granted, you won't have the cash to buy but a few select uber items, and you could only cast some of the BG2 spells as scrolls. (However I arrived there with party at level 3-5 and 15K gold and could afford the boots plus some choice spells; or a whole lot of spells.) But for the main point is why make clearly unbalancing items available to begin with? What's the rationale in support of it? How does this enhance the mod?

I'm just asserting the mod would have more integrity--i.e., it would be much better realized--if its stores are comensurate with the party's level.

Also, the loot drops are far too uber for play level 2-4. Once you sell that stuff it's possible to buy plenty of goodies at the store. I'm only as far as Bald Hill and I'm seeing spells dropped like Death Spell, Invisible Stalker, and Sphere of Chaos! ... Flails +2... (Okay, maybe those are okay...) But anyway, BG2 stuff is extremely unbalanced for a mod designed for level 2-4 play, sorry.

Please let me reemphasize that my feedback is intended as straightforward constructive criticism. I realize it's long past the playtesting stage, and this mod has probably been around for ages by now. But as someone playing it for the first time I'm unable to resist commenting--I'd just like to see the best product it can be (imo), given the obvious hard work that went into it. Overall, I'm very much enjoying and appreciating the labor that went into this mod.

And of course take with the usual grain of salt, as it is just one player's opinion. (I do happen to be right here though, ;P)
