I have been playing this game for awhile now and have a few questions that could use an answer...

1. Is it me or is there hardly ANY music besides sitting in targos or when you do an epic battle? In bg2 and bg1 and heck icewind dale if I recall there was almost battle music for every battle...though it seems like none for me...is this a bug or intended?

2. I cant count how many times I have to rest after almost every other battle...IT seems its always about 10 goblins 8 bugbears 6 ogres 4 trolls and 20 orcs everytime I fight it gets a little crazy...! I am only up to chapter 2 is it like this the whole game I assume?

3. And last but not least...There does not seem to be alot of good magical weapons or armor besides just +1 stuff or really weak buffs on items...I mean it took all the way till chapter too just to get some full plate and that was from killing beetles! In the bg games and the first icewind I dont recall it taking that long to get some uber gear...not a problem however just find it odd...do you not get the good stuff till much later?

end of rant thanks in advance if you answer...!

IWD2 has received critical acclain for its quality music, many people agree the atmosphere created is superior to other infinity engine games. It's one of the least criticized aspects of the game.

IWD2 is hard, that's true. Many people are surprised by the level of difficulty of the battles, just wait till you get further into the game. One way of alleviating the difficulty is taking a 4 member party that levels up faster, but I don't like this method.
You can lower the difficulty of the game, or use a cheatmod to increase experience gained from kills.

I didn't have much problems with your third point - since you are intended to have weak gear until that chapter, it's a part of the game progression. Actually, the most complaints are that you don't have enough money to buy all the stuff you want before leaving Targos. But this too is intentional, I think.

You have to accept that you're in for a difficult game. Some tips for your progression:
- Spells are much more important in this game, always have a sorcerer, (almost) completely single class with maxed charisma. And you will absolutely need a cleric.
- ranged weapons become less reliable in the later game, don't try to make an 'archer'.
- if you're into powergaming, there are many guides you can look into, i made one myself. having powergamed characters that can progress through a difficult game easily is very satisfying.

I seem to remember music in all battles... do you have any mods installed?

Just the tweak pack and icewind dale 2 npcs to my knowledge...I barely ever hear music unless its a major battle and when if the music does go like when I was on the Ice temple level one it only lasts for like 5-10 seconds then repeats every over minute or so...

here is a link to show all the files incase something is out of order Posted Image

And yes I will agree the music I have heard so far is quite stellar! I just wish I could hear it for every random battle as like I said it only seems to play music against bosses or big fights

I'm also playing IWD2 at the moment (I'm giving Domi's NPCs a whirl, having just finished IWD with Kulyok's NPC mod) and am at around the same stage of the game.

1) There is definitely less music than BG1/2 - it's more about atmospheric sounds, with the odd burst of music here and there. There's nothing wrong with your game, so don't worry.

2) Yes, battles tend to involve a lot of enemies and are pretty challenging. I wouldn't say it was any worse than IWD - the Dragon's Eye part of that was a right pain in the bum early on in the game, although things got easier as I levelled. It's much the same here - once your party has levelled a bit, things start to get a bit easier. A bit, though...it's still challenging (just wait until you meet the hook horrors in the Underdark!) I do find myself reloading a lot, which is a pain as reloading takes ages with the NPC mod installed.

3) Targos (Prologue) is the worst part of the game for me - you're weak, you have to scrimp just to get some rubbish equipment, and the tasks are pretty boring. But it gets better as you progress - the game itself becomes more fun and yes, you will get some nice gear later on, so don't worry.

Yes, only thing I can say is that it gets better the longer you play (particularly if you're familiar with IWD1). This is my third runthrough (first with a mod) and every time I really loathe the Targos prologue, don't much care for Shaengarne Ford but start enjoying it more past the goblin warrens. The first time I played it I started out hating it, but by the time I'd got to the end I was enjoying it so much I wanted to start again right away with a different party. With the NPC mod it's much more fun anyway, really...at least the chats help get you past the tedious early stages.

Before the Ice Temple I admit it was quite the drag fighting goblins orcs and dang trolls + ogres at every turn!
