Because we have a policy against necroposting, and I am curious if Keeping Yoshimo would clash with a Yoshimo Romance, or, if you would consider adding it to the current mod.

You think, someone should add this YR, to your KY mod?

My plan was to stick to the plot of vanilla BG, in which case it would clash with KY. I think it makes for much better RP opportunities/character development ect.

Sure, fine. I will make sure it won't install with YR when and if it comes out.

Why would you romance someone that betrays you? Or is this one of those nasty betrayals where he uses you and stabs you in the back by giving you to Irenicus?

Don't forget, Gabrielle, that the PC doesn't know of Yoshimo's betrayal until Spellhold... and HE is forced by a geas placed upon him by Irenicus. It's not like he doesn't hate himself for what he does or as if he doesn't regret it. He isn't heartless. It might very well be so that he sincerely falls in love with the PC, despite knowing he'll have to betray her in the end. A bittersweet romance with a tragic end would, for me, be the most logical explanation.

Yeah he is doing it against his will I know, but my vision is very narrow when it comes to betrayers, especially when it deals with the heart. I am unforgiving when it deals with that. Bah I don't know why I brought it up. I don't like Yoshi because he betrays you, yes against his will, I just use him for a short period until I get Nalia in the party, I always have a thief.

Someone mentioned many, many months ago in a thread over at G3 working on a Yoshimo romance, but the person seems to have vanished and the idea appears to have been abandoned. A pity because it looked like it had potential and I've always been interested in a Yoshimo romance.

No offense but as much as I'd love a Yoshimo romance I couldn't play a vanilla, tragic/doomed one. It sounds like as well as punishing Yoshimo for forced betrayal the PC gets punished for loving him.
Maybe it would be of interest to purists or someone who has never played the game before or who likes to know that there will be a sad ending. *shrugs* I'm a happy, or at least happier, ending kind of girl.

I like happy endings too, but one needs a change sometimes. I think the romance will be much more interesting if he has to betray you than with the obligatory "happily ever after" scheme. At least it will be something fresh and new. You've my full support, Deva :)

Elminster this, Elminster that. Give me 2000 years and a pointy hat and I will kick his arse.

Though, if you want a premature romance ending, or continuation, or whatever really, could be added on for KY. In fact, YR could simply have an ending dialogue which ties in with our one about the geas.

I think it'll make an interesting alternative to all the happy endings out there, and without wanting to give too much away, for Yoshimo, the ending is happy. I think that this way the romance will have a lot more character development for the PC. And I'd also like to point out that, if every thing goes as planned, there's no way the romance will end when Yoshimo dies. He won't be resurrected, or contact <CHARNAME> again in any way; but my plan is to have the PC's romance with him permeate the game, even in to ToB, long after his death.

I'd like to point out that the Xan romance has a very tragic and widely-found-out-about ending, as well, but it's still one of the most popular out there.

'Precciate it. :D

I think we'll need to have a talk about this when my plans are more set in stone. The only thing I know is that I will never want a romance continuation. We'd maybe be able to work out some way of keeping Yoshimo without the romance continuing, but I'd worry about that being too out of character.

No, it would be fine. I am assuming that the romance is without <CHARNAME> knowing of the Geas or plot of any kind? If so, then when Yoshi actually admits it (he does) this could shake the romance a bit, and the continuation would only really be a few dialogue nodes now and again.
