Nate just ran off with all his gear after I "accidentally" lowered the partys reputation. Can I edit (ShadowK) the save (from after the crime but before the breakup) or do I just have to hook up with viconia instead? (I love the Nate+Vic banters, btw.)
I tried simply improving the rep in Shadowkeeper, but I guess the damage was already done and since I have so many mods installed finding the right variable to edit is quite a daunting piece of guesswork. So, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I like the mod, even though Nate is far too frail for my taste and he's more demanding than a paladin in the company he keeps. His personality doesn't really seem too suitable for the lover and companion of the son of murder as they descend to the very pits of hell (or even the sewers), fighting and killing hundreds of enemies on an epic quest for justice, revenge, treasure, power and general world-saving. He seems more a stay at home kind of guy, occasionally heading out to the bakery for some cake. I really love that he loves cream but I'm not far enough into the romance yet to see if that applies to more than dairy. He's a sweet kid, a bit like Aerie, but not the kind of man I could picture standing on a pile of steaming corpses having his brain sucked out by an Illithid while stabbing his sword into the gut of another. Something like that would probably turn into a major trauma :crying:, which, I must admit it would certainly be for me or any other real person, heh. Otoh, I don't make a living from killing (I don't even make a killing from living :whistling: ).

So, all that considered, the mod has its good and bad sides. But the bad is more than outweighed by the fact that Nate is the first M/M romance I've played in a computer game. You deserve some huge kudos for that. If only he'd be more of a man and a bit more flexible it would almost be perfect..

There's definitely scope for a bear romance. Pretty much all my gay friends (I'm a faghag) seem to go for guys who look as though they should be competing in World's Strongest Man rather than pretty boys like Nathaniel. :D Maybe I should get off my butt and write one. See you in five years, then!

Five years?? Faster! Faster!! :Poke: Posted Image

Well, I can't claim to be a faghag, but among the people I know, cute ones like Nathaniel tend to get snapped up pretty quickly ;)

Nath sure is a fragile and sensitive soul (certainly contrasts hugely with his powerhouse fighting) but seeing as just about all the other men in the game - Sarevok, Anomen, Valygar, Keldorn, Korgan - are alpha males, I find it quite refreshing to have a fighter who isn't. And Charname himself is an alpha alpha male (comes with the territory of being the favoured son of murder and all that). Two alpha-types in one relationship could end up being... explosive.

The paladinesque uptight goodiness and the neediness don't bother me all too much. What bugs me most about Nath is that he won't even give a thief PC a chance :(. Thief is my favourite class to play. Bit narrow-minded of him... his Wis isn't too high, I suppose.

Ignorant -
I think it would be best to reload a game from before the crime (naughty, naughty!) and, well, not commit it. Otherwise, you might have to alter Nathaniel's script and reinstall.

I'm not really that into bears (old, fat and hairy). I much prefer the hollywood-pretty type, but a bit thicker skin and tougher nerves wouldn't hurt. Not that I mind being nurturing and comforting IRL, but in a killing-game like BG2 it seems a bit malplaced, even if you're playing a cleric of eh Lathander or whatever. Nevertheless, I've only come to the point where he's just got some bad news about his ex and I can't really judge the entire romance based on that, so perhaps my impression is wrong. I do think, however, that a weak personality like Nate should be easier to manipulate and corrupt for a charismatic and intelligent evil or chaotic BGMC. If badasses like Viconia and Sarevok can be "redeemed" and Anomen corrupted, then surely Nate should be a piece of cake. :whistling:

The problem with reloading an earlier save is that my only earlier save is too early. (Always a stupid mistake, especially when playing with a lot of mods). I'd have to replay 30 game days to get to the point where I am now... Isn't there any way to edit the savegame or CLUA the problem away, please? I'm pretty attached to the little guy, even if I have to go out of character a bit to romance him.

PS, Happy new year! DS

Problem solved. I searched for "reputation" in FHNAT and found:

//DEPARTURE DUE TO REPUTATION//

//Leaving at rep 9//
IF
InParty(Myself)
!Global("FHNathRomance","GLOBAL",1)
!Global("NathRomanceActive","GLOBAL",2)
ReputationLT(Player1,9)
THEN
RESPONSE #100
SetGlobal("NathGoes","GLOBAL",1)
END

IF
InParty(Myself)
OR(2)
Global("FHNathRomance","GLOBAL",1)
Global("NathRomanceActive","GLOBAL",2)
!StateCheck(Myself,CD_STATE_NOTVALID)
!StateCheck(Player1,CD_STATE_NOTVALID)
ReputationLT(Player1,9)
THEN
RESPONSE #100
SetGlobal("NathGoes2","GLOBAL",1)
END

IF
InParty(Myself)
OR(2)
Global("FHNathRomance","GLOBAL",1)
Global("NathRomanceActive","GLOBAL",2)
!StateCheck(Myself,CD_STATE_NOTVALID)
!StateCheck(Player1,CD_STATE_NOTVALID)
Global("NathGoes3","GLOBAL",0)
ReputationLT(Player1,8)
THEN
RESPONSE #100
SetGlobal("NathGoes3","GLOBAL",1)
END

With ShadowK I could then set the NathGoes to 0. Then I removed the triggers from the FHNAT file in the Nathaniel foldser and reinstalled the mod to help keep the problem from happening again. And it seems have worked.
