Is installing this, and other mods, as complicated is I think or...?

To install the PS:T Ultimate WeiDU Fixpack, simply extract pstfixpack.rar into the main directory of your Planescape: Torment game (probably C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Torment). Click Setup-PST-Fix.exe and follow the prompts.

From the Fixpack readme:

I honestly don't know how to do that, just hit "browse" when downloading, and stick it in Torment? Unless I stuck it in the wrong place, I got an error doing that. And when I download the files, I can't extract them if I click "save file". I think I'm probably overthinking it too...
EDIT- Would making the mod (fixpack in this case) open with Torment do it?

1. Download the mod. Links are everywhere.
2. Place the single file you get in your Torment directory.
3. Find the file in whatever directory browser you use (Windows Explorer, maybe), right click on the file and choose "Extract Here". If that option does not exist for you, you need to download and install WinRAR or some other tool that lets you decompress .RAR files.
4. Click on the Setup-MODNAME.exe file that should now exist in your Torment directory, and follow the prompts.
Beyond that, not sure how much more help I can be.

P.S. "I got an error doing that" isn't helpful... telling us what the error message was would be

"An assertion failed in D:\Torment\Source\chitin\Chitin.cpp at line number 1393
Programmer says: Error initializing key table, bad key file"
That's the error, and it happens when I try to open the file.

"That's the error, and it happens when I try to open the file. "
Open -which- file? "pstfixpack.rar"? "Setup-PSTFix.exe"? "Torment.exe"? Please be aware as I help you with this that I will annoyingly insist that you be specific every last single time that you are vague, because that is always where the problem lies.

And yes, by operating system, I meant XP.
"The mod file" is vague. That could mean "pstfixpack.rar", the compressed file you actually download, or it could mean "Setup-PST-Fix.exe", which is the file you get after extracting it and is the file you run to install the mod.
Still:
"An assertion failed in D:\Torment\Source\chitin\Chitin.cpp at line number 1393
Programmer says: Error initializing key table, bad key file"
Isn't something you can possibly get from anything you can do with just pstfixpack.rar, so you've either already extracted the files and don't need WinRAR, or what you're calling "the mod file" has nothing to do with my mods.

There is someone else who has this problem and posted it, I'll see if I can follow what he did and try to fix it.
Oh and how will I know when I've got it right? I highlighted all the files in the unzipped pstfixpack (or however you'd call it) and extracted them into C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Torment, with no errors.

Got WINrar, extracted it to Torment (I think) and got:
[C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\Rar$EX07.828\Setup-PST-Fix.exe] WeiDU version 20900
No, you failed to put it in Torment (or, at least, if you put it in Torment, you then tried to -run- it from the temporary directory it got downloaded to).
You have to run the Setup-PST-Fix.exe file that needs to exist in your Torment directory, not in the temporary directory. That error message indicates that running it from the temporary download directory is what you did.
Here's instructions from the very beginning:
When you downloaded the file, you should see an icon for it on your desktop.
1. Right click Start button
2. Click "Explore".
3. Navigate around Windows Explorer till you find your Torment directory (if you have 4CD set, it should be C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Torment. If the 2CD set, it may be slightly different. Actually click on the "Torment" directory, do not click on the Torment -file- within that directory just yet.
4. Drag the downloaded pstfixpack.rar from your desktop to the Folder "Torment" (not on top of the file Torment.exe).
5. Verify that the file pstfixpack.rar IS ACTUALLY IN the Torment directory.
6. Right click on it in the Torment directory - not in the temporary directory it downloads to which you can see in that error message - and "Extract Here".
7. Then double click on Setup-PST-Fix.exe THAT NEEDS TO EXIST IN THE TORMENT DIRECTORY. It has to be that one, you can't go back to the original file you downloaded and try to run it from whatever temporary directory it got placed in.

Assuming that wasn't the problem:
Okay, yes, it looks like you found the right directory. The directory I was giving you was for the 4CD version. For the 2CD version, you do want the directory "Planescape - Torment", not just "Torment". Sorry, should've verified that first.
Depending on how you have your windows explorer set up, it may not actually display the file extensions (such as .exe) in the same column as the filename. You may instead have another column called "Type", and it should say things like "Application" (which is an EXE) or "TP2 file" (.TP2) . If you have files called "Setup-PST-Fix" or "Setup-PST-UB" at all, then yes, it looks like you extracted properly.
This error:
[C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Planescape - Torment\Setup-PST-UB.exe* WeiDU version 20900
ERROR: error loading [dialog.tlk]
...indicates that you DID get at least the Unfinished Business mod extracted in the right directory. But it can't find or can't open the dialog.tlk file. I don't know why that is, unless you have the game open and ALT-Tabbed out of it to do all this. Either the file is missing, or something else you did is locking the dialogue file. Can you find a dialog.tlk file in that directory? (Remember, you may have to look in another column in Explorer to see the file extension "TLK file")

If you did muck something up while getting to that point, you will be beating your head against the wall for hours and never get it working. Better off just uninstalling, wipe override directory, and reinstall to make SURE that isn't the issue going forward.

So, it can't open them for some reason. Something else you ran - possibly a previous attempt to install the mods that you never closed out - must be locking the file. (Files get locked when two different programs are trying to change the same file at the same time, for obvious reasons).
Look at all the open programs you have along the bottom. One of them may be a previous install attempt that is sitting there on a "Press Enter To Continue", or perhaps a Fixpack install attempt that didn't finish yet and is sitting waiting for more input from you, and you never actually finished it. Finish or close them and any other programs related to this. Then you can try installing the mods again (And you should install Fixpack successfully first, before UB or Tweak Pack).
If that doesn't work, then it's DEFINITELY time to reinstall the game.

Ok 'cause I'm anxious to try out your work, which everyone says is great. Thanks so much for the help so far!Honestly, at this point, you did so much mucking about that it's perfectly possible you damaged something within the directories. I would recommend you uninstall the game (Start -> All Programs -> Black Isle -> Torment -> Uninstall Torment), delete the Planescape - Torment/override directory in Windows Explorer, reinstall the game, then apply the mods. Uninstalling won't get rid of the mod files, so if you do have the Setup-PST files and the "PST-Fix", "PST-UB" and "PST-Tweak" folders within your Planescape - Torment folder, you won't have to put them there again, don't worry.
