Dare I get my hopes up? Check this out! Can it really be true? After years and years of waiting, will we finally see the return of one of the greatest series of games of all time? We all remember the days of epic piratey puzzle-solving, swashbuckling debauchery and of course, Insult Sword-Fighting. Is Guybrush Threepwood finally going to be back on our screens?
I'm trying not to get too excited. It's being made by a different company, after all, even if some of the people from LucasArts are there to help out, and the fourth game in the series definitely lacked a certain charm. Even so, I can't help but be happy. Monkey Island brings back some great memories.
If this is a hoax, a little part of my soul might just die. I'm preparing myself for the possibility, though.

Monkey Island!

It sure is legit!! I've been hearing about it from all kind of different sources, most of them trustworthy.
However, I have mixed feelings about it. I *loooove* Monkey Island, and I'm glad to see it coming back. But I also liked the goofy cartoony look of Curse of Monkey Island, and from the screenshots I've seen, this one will stray quite a bit from that style. Also, I don't know if they'll keep Michael Land for the game's score. I'm a big fan of his work for the Monkey Island series, and a game's score is very important to me.
So I guess I'm feeling mostly cautious optimism!
Incidentally, for those of you who are fans of older games, there's a contest going over on Abandonia Reloaded, and the first prize is the first season of the "Tales of Monkey Island".

I must say I never got past the beginning of the last MI - the 3D one. I couldn't handle the controls and hated the way it looked. I loved the old 2D MIs.
I hope they do a better job with this one.
