Hewwos! ^_^ I ish new forumer. You may call me Eevee! I have played BG and BG2 lots and lots more, with and without mods. I thought, "Maybe I can make one myself? I has time". I know it will be an NPC. Things like items, tactics and quests bore me. So, it will be an NPC! But... I dunno where to start. =< I have a few ideas, but I'm not sure if they ish good. Probably not, comin' from a newbie. Plus, everything has been done already at least once. :( Ish hard to remain original. I'm not picky when it comes to character gender, alignment, race, class. Ish likely I can write for just about anything, except maybe foreign languages, hehe. I'm a fiction/fantasy writer after all! I hope to have a book released in the future, if my work ish good enough.

Here are a few keywords I can list when it comes to ideas and where bits of my passion lie:

dwarf, halfling, human, priest/cleric, warrior, uncommon playable races/subraces (not drow or vamp), bitterness, dark brooding, depression, sweetness, sadness, anger/rage, suffering, happy-go-lucky, easy-going, tomboy, cute boys/girls, shyness, humor, clumsy/ditzy person, optional romance (any gender combination with PC or other NPC), good trusted friendship, inventors/inventions, good background story, making existing BG/BG2 character into playable one.

My favorite BG NPC's are Kivan and Yeslick. ^_^
My favorite BG2 NPC is Edwin. ^_^

I can go a lot of ways with the things mentioned above. Can anybody help me sort out what would be good ideas to work with, and what would be a disaster? Thank you!!! ^_^

Maybe take a look at this topic. There are some abandoned ideas... Maybe you will find something for yourself :)

...

Advice: Start small, like really small, with NPCs it's making the char, and then making it appear. Good tutorial, is a good thing.
And then write 1 dialog... and trying to code it and making a working WeiDU mod from it.

If that's what you want, to write that is, write a lot and try to code it at the same time.

Oh, please, please do make a halfling!

... ehem. I mean, um. Hello, Eevee!

I'd start by doing something really, really basic to get the hang of it, then expand on it. Out of those keywords, inventors/inventions also caught my eye as something that could be pretty interesting.
