Is there a way to have IWD2 (and/or BG2) write all the scrolling text in the main dialogue window to a file? This would be really helpful for diagnosing problems, but I can figure out how to do it...
Thanks,

Sadly not. Try printscreen?

Oy, this is bad. What were they thinking?
I'd really like to capture an entire session to a file. Printscreen would be ok for a few windowfuls of text, but not for long scrolling sessions.
I wonder if there's a way to hack IWD2.exe to get it to write out to Icewind2.log

If you can figure out how to do it, a lot of people will love you forever
Although, as for gathering a whole section, I've noticed with prolonged battles in BG2, the dialogue window will drop/lose/refresh leaving you with only the dialogue/actions from the later part of the battle.
The main one I remember is the first trial in the pocket plane, where you fight a whole slew of different enemies.
So you might have to take that into account when logging.

I'm a little short on the skill set for doing this sort of thing, but what I was thinking of was trying to intercept whatever function call is used to write characters to the window and have it duplicate the stream out to a file (or even just "stdout" if it's available).
