Okay, so, even though I have absolutely no time to play BG in the nearest future, being an addict I am, I came to the forums once again to check the progress on awesome TBW project

First thing that occured to me - in the .pdf file, it's said that Iron Modders are removed. I've never really got far enough to play through them (lagging bug, and then had to drop the game due to other stuff that needed my attendance). So my question is - what exactly are these mods? And why are they removed from the installation? From the look of it, they seemed rather fun and harmless, being just small, funny additions.

Another thing, even though I lurk the forums a bit (wasn't there a BWP forum section before? Just have a feeling, but not completely sure   ) I'm not sure and could use an answer from someone 'more on topic' - has this lagging/bcs file issue been addressed? There's a new version out, and I'm really hoping it was, since as far as I can swallow a not working quest or an over powered ogre in the middle of a city (till I get strong enough to kill it hehe) I can't play when the game lags whenever not paused. It was depressing, after downloading mods for hourssssss and reading, and getting all hot for a game to be defeated by that evil  <_<

Also, I don't know if I ever notified you guys on the forums, so it comes kinda randomly now, but I had a big issue with the big mod that includes Drizzt adventures (Region of Terror, was it?). It got me stuck at the exit of Chateau Irenicus and the cutscene would never end. I had to remove the mod and thanks to that (or my prayers) it worked better.

And another question, the mod with IceWind dale stuff inside (I think NeJ. Shame on me for not remembering these for sure D:<), the one you leave to via teleport in Chateau. Won't this strongly affect the game? I mean, it's a long thing put just in the beginning of the adventure, won't characters be WAY too strong for the SoA after that? Same actually goes for all the big mods that take the group for an adventure elsewhere for a long time. I use all the tactic tough mods I could find, but still, they're not thought of to improve the game for a team that's been buffed on independent quests, are they?

Have a nice day guys, and know that I'm glad, happy and cheering for you even when I can't play the game now   I wish I could contribute somehow, but basically all I can do nowadays is draw xD I doubt that'd be of any service to you.

PS. I forgot! Maybe someone knows what mod it was that added TOTALLY overpowered robes all through the BG2? One of them I found in Spellhold (and for once thought that I might've just earned it) gave some crazy regeneration ability, so that I could just go with my my main char, alone, and slash through the improved underdark. She was impossible to kill. And by impossible, I mean REALLY. The other 5 had to stand in the back (I was rushing through to check something if I remember right so the levels/equipment really were WAY too weak) because otherwise they were slaughtered before they could move. I'd really rather avoid installing such unbalanced stuff xD

Well, officially the manual setup version hasbeen released, not the automated one that comes when the BWS is updated to v8.

First thing that occured to me - in the .pdf file, it's said that Iron Modders are removed. I've never really got far enough to play through them (lagging bug, and then had to drop the game due to other stuff that needed my attendance). So my question is - what exactly are these mods? Well, they were mods originally done in 4 hours, or so the myth goes.
Now, some of those mods have been redone, and the rest thrown away, as they were not compatible or not very well finish-able

Another thing, even though I lurk the forums a bit (wasn't there a BWP forum section before? Just have a feeling, but not completely sure  ) I'm not sure and could use an answer from someone 'more on topic' - has this lagging/bcs file issue been addressed? If you follow the link that's also in my sign, you should be able to cope with the lag...
What comes to the forums, the BWP has always been one of the Megamods, and so has always been in the Mega Mod Help forums. And so is the new v8.

Well, if you go with the Tactical installation, there is promised to zero game killing bugs. The NeJ is not included...

Heya there

Agreed, that the Icewind Dale saga (NeJ :D) right at the start of the game does seem to be quite overpowered, but besides the cheesiness, the regular game can be made 10x more difficult (even on Easy difficulty) by using a Tactics version install of the BWP.

It makes the vanilla quests harder, creates harder mages to fight against, and add tons of new (and freakin HARD ) quests to the game (ever tried to enter the first floor from the back room of the Jovial Juggler in Beregost with a Level 3 party after installing DSotSC ;)?? Sisters rejoice!!! ... and whoopazz :crying:)

Later in the game, when you'll be fighting demiliches (yeah ... other than Kangaxx :o) in SoA, and that too, buffed up to real "demi"-status by SCSII and the Tactics mod , you'll really thank the items you got during your travels (even if they seemed overpowered and game-breaking at the time you got them :D)

Remember, the true value of something can't be appreciated until you actually lose it :D

Cheers,

And there's a balancer program at the end of the install process that gets rid of all of the really wonky items. There's lots of craziness still around (I remember seeing a shortsword in my last game that did 3d9+6), but the huge craziness is sparse enough that you can just ignore it (I had a special bag of holding I called my "Imba bag" Edwin carried the bag around as part of his plot to take over the world). v8 also has a new store prices balancing mod that increases all prices a bit and cuts in half what these stores will pay for stuff so you're not swimming in gold anymore either.

But, with a Tactics install, the imba items that you do choose to use don't overpower the game. Especially with all the mages firing off triggers Imm:Abj and Imm:Div... :D

I've spent days modding my Baldur but I never got to really play i long enough to get my ass decently kicked (installed all the crazy shit like tactics, improved battles, deeper shadows of amn, stratagems and whatnot with the previous version of BWP) but didn't get far enough due to the lagging that started soon :( Depressing.

I only play BG now when there's a good challenge around, makes me want to actually try harder instead of taking 2 lvl team for Battle Horrors in Durlag's Tower :D Not to mention BG2 (though I never got a good tactic for the dragons. I guess I just love them too much to specialize in killing them D:)

Haha yeah, my number, I liked it when I saw it >:)

@ Darpaek
The part of Edwin carrying the imba bag made me laugh out loud, literally :D Epic, I have such a sentiment for that char and he could totally do that XD

But the thing is, I hate ignoring items, especially if I also make the game more difficult. It takes the fun of gaining some imba but needed/in place/deserved stuff away D:

HAHA! Yeah. Edwin's the one that ID's all the loot we get. It's part of the deal to get him to follow me around: He gets first dibs on party loot. Sometimes he lets us borrow stuff, but then we have to endure several days worth of "giving bananas to monkeys" jokes - so it's rarely worth it to borrow stuff from Edwin's imba bag.
