There seems to be a great deal of excellent information on performing clean installs and getting the game running (I even managed to pull off a BWS install on OS X through Parallels and Crossover with everyone's excellent help), but what about when new versions are released? Can older save games work with new BWP version installs?
Specifically I've been playing a Tactics install on BWP v7 for awhile now and noticed v8.1 is out with a lot of updates to mods that I use. What do people usually do when updating/reinstalling?
Thanks!

No. As you need to do almost totally new install(everything else than the BGII games themselves and the patch), the BWS will help you do it, but you'll have to restart the game as the BWS will first remove any trace of the old install, but the downloads, then install all the chosen components again. There seems to be a great deal of excellent information on performing clean installs and getting the game running (I even managed to pull off a BWS install on OS X through Parallels and Crossover with everyone's excellent help), but what about when new versions are released? Now, what I always do is that I throw my old game to the trash bin, and copy an old one on it's place, as I have all my mod downloads and everything needed in a safe separated folder.
