I would appreciate your help in this case. I "installed" Ultimate BG Collection (no install needed, just copy the .dat and .exe file on HDD). In collection, there are included all four BG games with plenty of modes. Everything seems to be OK, I finished BG1 and TotSC, but i came across a strange problem with lagging. I'm no noob, so I knew it could be caused by bags, multiple arrows, potions, etc. I tried to reduce graphic settings, pathfinding, resolution, and everything that can be found on other forums, but it led to nowhere. This lag is strange, because it's progressive. Game runs normally, and in time it starts lagging. Lags get worse and worse and finally, the game is almost unplayable (2 sec ok then lag, and again). It doesnt lag when I pause the game, but if I dont pause, it lags even in menu.
Its definitely not caused by characters, I tried to remove all of them and import to the save utterly new one, but nothing happened. Another strange thing: when I load older save (even with my buffed and overloaded characters imported) it's OK again.
I really tried everything and I dont think someone will be able to help me, but Im trying what I can...
Thank you very much for any helpful answer.

Done these all already? Answer #5
Hi, thanks for the link. Well...
...I can try to solve all previous possible quests (the very few I didnt solve before) but I dont think its in global category. Progressive lag cured himself once before.. It showed when I was passing through Durlags Tower (first floor - barely lagging, last floor - great lags, back in Ulgoths Beard - unplayable). When I killed AecīLetec it magically disappeared. So I think it might be caused by those quests you mentioned.
I will also increase the cache in BGConfig.
Last question: the game is not clearing Cache folder?

Not with the sufficient rate... as in that it's good to do it yourself one in a while after you have gone around a few maps and wish to end the game for the day for example, so there is no extra files there. This is cause the cache is used to store the temporary area and other graphic files that are not in your RAM.Last question: the game is not clearing Cache folder?
The files can always be reloaded from the actual files if they are needed, so there is no need to keep them in storage longer than they are needed(when you end your game).

so I have returned from Italy and tried these things:
1. I deleted all files from override folder and copied there only two files with new merchants in Copper Coronet.
2. I downloaded and copied new and clean "baldur.bcs" and "baldur25.bcs" files to Override from here: http://forums.penny-...ead.php?t=90401
3. In mpsave folder I manually created new save with new name and imported files from my last regular save.
4. I increased cache to 4000Mb
==
5. I disabled all ambient sounds and tried to delete cache folder, but its not the source of the problem.
And you know what? Its OK now. Thank you very much. Black Isle forever.

If I would have been you, I would have tried these first:1. I deleted all files from override folder and copied there only two files with new merchants in Copper Coronet.
2. I downloaded and copied new and clean "baldur.bcs" and "baldur25.bcs" files to Override from here: ...
___________________________________________4. Don't mess with the game configurations so the speed adjustment percentages stay on "normal" ratings even if you have very high end machine, as the game has own it's internal fps counter, it sometimes tries to correct the fps on it's own by lowering graphs etc. Also the games frame rate should be set to about 30, as that's the default.
7. De-fragmenting your hard drive might also help... as you don't have to go find the data in the pieces. (hmm, there is a joke in there, hih)
11. And when you have installed all the mods you are going to, it might be a good idea to test your game to make sure your mods work, particularly any newer or untested mods. Once you are satisfied your install works, and only then, you will want biff your override folder, but do that knowing that you generally can't change the game much after. The easiest way to do this is to use the End_biff from here, or the more modern Generalized Biffing.
15. Inventory management(no stacks that have more than about 200 items, in a bag, arrows etc.), -might also help, as in if you drop an item to the ground or store it in a stash the stuttering might go away. And do not carry too many bags of holding and the like storage items.
16. NPC management, some mods might cause lag if a particular NPC is in the party for some odd reason or another, so if dropping the NPC from the party results in the removal of the lag or the stuttering, do so. And don't forget that somebody needs to know about it, the circumstance this happens etc. good debugging info...
19. For some unexplained reason, when you have played the game quite long time, starting a new game so it autosaves in ToB and importing the BG1 or SoA game in, might help to clear out some of the stutter in them, even after you go back and load the game in the BG1 or BG2 portion of the game, we have to investigate this a bit.
What is the idea here?3. In mpsave folder I manually created new save with new name and imported files from my last regular save.
