hey guys,

i´m searching for rather unknown, not-so-usual rpgs, ore at least games with rpg-elements, on the pc. with "unconventional" i mean gameplay as well as story/setting. freegames count as well as indie- or normal games, that just did surpass the attention of most players.
and, most important: the games should be high quality ones (at least in your eyes ;))

The Spirit Engine 2

both "The Spirit Engine 1&2" are free to download. the first part is ok for a freegame, but the second one really is a top game! its basically a side scrolling game with focus on tactical combat. you choose 3 out of 9 characters, from 3x3 classes. the game has bg2-like interparty banter. well, maybe not in terms of quantity, but surely in quality. in case of freedom and char development its more like a jrpg, but the story and the setting are quite "western". its a mix of medieval and steampunk scenario which reminds of arcanum. i strongly recommand it to everyone who likes party banter, tactical fights and the 19th century ;)

+free
+fresh setting
+good story and well developed characters
+long
+fresh and tactical fighting system
+hot soundtrack
-linear
-takes some time to get into

Aztaka

"Aztaka" is a game from the indie developer citérémis, availabe for 15.00 US$. its not really a rpg, more a jump´n´run with roleplay and hack´n´slash elements. it is set in a mesoamerican fantasy world, with nice handdrawn 2d art and an extremely atmospheric music. char development is simple but someway quite deep too. the game feels, for something which technically is 2d-jum´n´run, unexpected free. there is a number of sidequests as well.

+virgin setting ;)
+beautiful music
+atmospheric graphic style
-not that long

im waiting for your suggestions ;)
