When I try to run BGMain or TobExLoader after installing the BWP I get assertion error in line 834. I've tried everything google suggested, my Baldur.ini is fine then I added lines to regedit but to no avail. I've tried to reinstall numerous times. After install and after patches the game works perfectly, but not after BWP.
I'm using windows Vista.

BWP (Tactic ver) seems to be intalling normally (I got a few error messages along the way something like "couldnt find file at location 7", but I guess that's okay?). I removed mods like Selune armory since they are not there to download and I also disabled antivirus software like setup suggested.

Also since each re-install takes forever its even more frustrating. I'm really desperate at this point, please help.

With Vista, are you sure that the game actually uses the Baldur.ini in your game directory... as if the game is in the Program Files sub-folders(in English OS, the other languages have same sort of name for the folder), the files are actually mirrored from the ProgramData sub-folders. <_< Meaning that you really should install the game to somewhere else if you wish to actually play the modified game at all...

The Baldur.ini is a regular text file, so Notepad can edit it, not a cheesed regedit... after making sure that the editions are actually taken into account... my advise is to make darn sure there is no typos in the Baldur.ini, as I had similar problem not long ago...
And the assertion error should be "ChDimm.cpp at line 834" if it has to do with the Baldur.ini, other are unknown.

Yes it's a Chdimm.cpp error. First it shows a window with a "-1" text, then assertion error pops up.
I have BG installed in C:\Games\BGII - SoA\

I tried editing baldur.ini with notepad, then after it didnt help I tried editing the registry, I have browsed every forum throughly but only solution they offer is reinstall or check your baldur.ini, but everything seems to be perfectly fine. My installation works and my baldur.ini [alias] points to my BG directory. I tried to type it in manually, I tried to copy paste directory path etc. There are no typos at least not in alias section.

it goes like
HD0:=C:\Games\BGII - SoA\
CD1:=C:\Games\BGII - SoA\CD1\
etc with CD2~5

But actually my CD1 folder is missing, but I read somewhere that it doesnt matter where CD1 points.

Anyway the games works before BwP, but after I keep on getting assertion error.

HD0:=C:\Games\BGII - SoA\
CD1:=C:\Games\BGII -SoA\CD1\

CD1:=C:\Games\BGII -SoA\CD1\ <---- According to the line above, a space is missing between - and SoA

ah no it's not missing, I was typing manually, its just a slip. here's copy of baldur.ini

[Alias]
HD0:=C:\Games\BGII - SoA\
CD1:=C:\Games\BGII - SoA\CD1\
CD2:=C:\Games\BGII - SoA\CD2\;C:\Games\BGII - SoA\CD2\
CD3:=C:\Games\BGII - SoA\CD3\
CD4:=C:\Games\BGII - SoA\CD4\
CD5:=C:\Games\BGII - SoA\CD5\

in CD2 section I tried to remove the second half (I mean there are two entries that look the same) but it doesnt change anything.
It would look like this:
[Alias]
HD0:=C:\Games\BGII - SoA\
CD1:=C:\Games\BGII - SoA\CD1\
CD2:=C:\Games\BGII - SoA\CD2\
CD3:=C:\Games\BGII - SoA\CD3\
CD4:=C:\Games\BGII - SoA\CD4\
CD5:=C:\Games\BGII - SoA\CD5\

Is your Bg1 in the file it should be? (Otherwise BGT isn't installed properly).
