Needlessly detailed explanation of what I have done:
I began with following the instructions for installing the BWP (installed BG1, BG2, expansions, patched it all up, etc). I then played blissfully for a while, until the game started crashing while resting sometimes (sporadically). While googling on how to fix this issue, I came across someone who said the crash could be avoided if they played the game windowed (I was playing full screen using the widescreen mod). While attempting to manage to get windowed mode to work, I uninstalled and reinstalled the widescreen mod a few times. Apparently, I somehow messed this up, as I could no longer manage to load up a save game after a while (game would crash during loading). I believe this happend no matter which save was loaded.
While attempting to fix this new found error, I attempted to reinstall BWP. I first tried letting BWP restore it's backup and reinstall all the mods from there, but when it was done installing I was only greeted by an assertion error while trying to launch bgmain.exe. At this point I gave up, backed up my "save" folder, deleted the entire BG2 folder, reinstalled BG2, ToB and patches (didn't reinstall BG1 however). I then did the usual routine; loaded up BG2 and TOB, made a quicksave for each, then installed BWP. I am fairly sure I chose the same "package" that I did the first time around.
Joy! I could now actually start the game! Moreover, I could even load my save game! So I began playing, thinking everything was all right. Chatted with some baddies, killed them, looted everything, was about to head off to a merchant to sell it off, and what do I see? My world map is messed up! It still works for traveling, but it's hard to navigate as some of the "names" are awfully long and overlap with each other.
So, does anyone have a suggestion as to how I might fix this? My google-fu has failed me in this matter, and I am loathe to reinstall everything again just to encounter the same issue again. I have attached the weidu.log as well, if it's any help.
Thank you in advance.
