Check your properties for the directories those files are in.
My guess would be that you don't have proper access and the system fails to use those files properly.
THINK! - It's not illegal.

If your games aren't in the standard paths, you MUST do that before running "BiG World Install.bat". Open the bat, look for instances of "BGII - SoA" and "Baldur's Gate", and edit where needed. Note that your BG2 directory can be anywhere on your HDD, but it must be named "BGII - SoA". Also look for any variables with "BG1" or "BG2" in them and edit if it looks like containing a directory name.

@Ieldra: No, that has nothing to do with it.

The lines in the batch tell type to show the text of some files.
This fails.
It has nothing to do with the paths of the game-folders at all.

@Edgar: Please make also sure that the files from the Installpack-folder were extracted properly.
THINK! - It's not illegal.

I am having the same problem. The debug file is saying that it cannot find the file @20, access denied.

I do not see how this is right because I have changed the permissions so absolutely anyone can read and write to it so I do not see what it wrong.

Can anyone help me please?

Type in cmd into the start menu
right-click cmd.exe and select run as administrator
navigate to BG2 folder by typing in cd /D XYZ where XYZ is your path
execute the BiG World Intall.bat and see what happens...
THINK! - It's not illegal.

Tried this it is still saying access denied. Is there any other way you can think of?

Remove the BiG World Installpack-folder
Extract it's file from the BiG World Download-folder
Try again
THINK! - It's not illegal.

Unfortunately that has not worked either it is still saying the same thing. I do not understand is this to do with the permissions?

I have this exact same problem. I've tried everything the posters above mention, but I still get the exact same error message.

I don't get what's wrong. All the files have full permissions and big world install is in the correct place, but it still can't find the files. I've already uninstalled then reinstalled everything, and had this exact same problem. Replaced the BiG world installpack with the version I extracted from the Big World Download.

And ideas?

Try to extract the files to your desktop. See if it works then.
If it does, move BGII - SoA to another place where you "really" have full access, like D:\Bla C:\Test or something like that. Edit your Baldur.ini accordingly.
