Can someone give me a full list on what classes are eligible for the Fighter and Mage arena matches?

For fighters you can choose Bruenor, Wulfgar, Korgan, Mazzy or your player character if he/she is any fighter class (I think multiclass works). Also Tapio Perkiomaki if you can find him :)

For the mage challenge, Aerie, Edwin, Randall or your player character if he/she is any mage class.

The different levels of challenges are level dependent so they will not run one after the other. If your level is too high, when you attempt the next challenge, you may miss a level but you can still finish. If you miss a level you just miss the treasure and XP but you will find a lot more later in the mod.

That's not really meant, but ok. I mean, a list of kits who can join the arena. Why can Wulfgar, who's a barbarian, join the matches while paladins, who are technically fighters at the core, cannot?

Because the only checks are for FIGHTER_ALL and not PALADIN. Pure fighter classes only which are Barbarian, Wizard Slayer, Kensai, et cetera and other mod added fighter kits. FIGHTER_ALL refers only to class, so any fighter kits you have will work. If you use a mod that changes classes of the specific NPC's. like Mazzy to Paladin for example, she can still do it because the dialog checks for her and not her class.

So when it comes to specific NPC's, it will work for them no matter what they are. For your player character, any fighter kit under the sun.
