Graphic Processor: Intel HD2000
I tried several times installing BG1 and BG2 on Windows 7. At first both BG1 and BG2 won't start no matter how I changed the compatibility properties, then I uninstalled the games, switched to safe mode and got BG2(SoA&ToB&Patch) installed, now the game is running normally and requires no compatibility tweak. BG1(BG&TotSC&Patch) was then installed in the same way, but after that I had to run it in Windows XP SP3 compatibility (neither XP SP2 nor 98/me would work), now it seems to work fine.
Now I'm going to install BGT and some mods, my question is do I have to install them under Safe Mode? Do I have to set the installers to run "As Administrator" or in "Windows xx Compatibility" mode?
Since BGT converts BG1 to use BG2 engine and BG2 is now running normally on my machine, does it mean that BGT will work normally, too?
Please help!

question: When you first tried to install the games and run 'em, had you installed 'em as the Admin? If not, that may be why you had trouble. UAC (User Account Control) likes to play havoc with games and installing mods too.
however, one can hope that if you got everything finally working that BGT will work once installed

wow! I have Win 7 64 bit and never had to go thru all that hassle.... let's hope that you didn't install to the default directory location under Program Files... If so, that will cause all kinds of issues with installing mods.

All my games are installed in a customized folder.
Yes the first time I installed them "as administrator" and set the "setup.exe" to "XP SP2" compatibility mode, and it installed without error messages but failed to run. But when in safe mode, I just installed them as normal (no administrator or compatibility), and then rebooted and started Windows normally and found that I could paly BG2 without having to modify compatibility.
Do you have to install bgt-weidu (or any other weidu mods) "as administrator"?

I also have Windows 7 64 bits and I'm running it as a regular user, UAC is set to default settings (enabled). Anytime I want to run a setup-xxx.exe from a mod, Windows 7 asks me to enter the administrator password. Therefore I believe you' better do it too, in case your Windows doesn't ask you.Do you have to install bgt-weidu (or any other weidu mods) "as administrator"?
Installing the game as administrator is probably mandatory. I didn't install any BG game for years, I just copy a backup of a full installation, so I don't know how things are going with Windows 7 while installing.
According to my own experience, you shouldn't need to use any compatibility settings to run Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II though.

That depends on what you have... but fine setting can easily be made with the games own tools... the BGConfig.exe, usually, even if the cause of the problem is the video card... as long as you realize that this is an old game that was not made to be compatible to Windows 7... install directory needs to be outside the multiple "Program Files" folders the OS comes with.According to my own experience, you shouldn't need to use any compatibility settings to run Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II though.
So do not run the game in "compatibility mode".
