Hello everyone.
I'm trying to install the BWP, tactics version on the GOG game and keep running into several problems. This is the technical stuff and a step-by-step process of what I'm doing:
As I said, GOG version. Windows 7. Installed to D:\Games\Black Isle\Baldurs Gate and \BGII – SoA. I use my C:\ partition for windows and other program files, and it is moderately full, 30 more GB would be too much. UAC is disabled, and I have tried running the installation process both from an admin and a normal account. Antivirus, firewall and internet are disabled.
Step 1: I install the games and make a manual save in BG, BGII and ToB.
Step 2: I go and download all the mods that seem interesting from here. “All the interesting mods” include “everything that isn't grey-coded”, “all green and orange stuff” and “all the standard stuff that has a description below the link and is in English”. All this mods go into their own folder, because I feel that I will have to download them again otherwise.
Step 3: unpack every mod into the BGII root folder. By this I understand “unpack every compressed file, and leave obvious installers as they are”. Auto-extract files are also unpacked. This gives me a nice list of folders and a lot of setupwhatever files in my BGII – SoA folder.
Step 4: Download the fixpack and the installpack, and unpack them in the same way into my BGII folder.
Step 5: Take a deep breath and run the install.bat.
So, problems:
1) I get an infinite loop while the install.bat is checking for BG1. I actually managed to bypass the check by using another (older) installer, which led me to
2) ERROR: Your BG is missing the following mods (or something similar): BG Fixpack (which I assume is because I used a different version install.bat, because the fixpack was there, both packed and unpacked)
3) I actually managed to make it to the fixpack part by using this, but then when the program began fixing the mods it just froze. A blank DOS screen appears with the path "C:\...\Big World Trimpack\_utils\patch.exe , but nothing happens in about three hours, so I assume it's not going to work and close it.
I have gone in panic mode and tried to repeat the process with everything I could download thrown in the BGII folder: a trimpack, a textpack (both older versions than the install and fixpack), a .txt file called "BG2-ToBPatchReadMe.txt" in both BG and BGII folders.
So, yeah, I'm at a total loss and I don't know what to do... help, please?
By the way, the message “this program is doing the work for you” almost caused to throw my laptop against a wall the twentieth time I saw it.

Help with a "tactics" install for a GoG game

For fixing the BG1 patch check loop, *please* use the install.bat in my sig, and extract over the latest installpack. Also, please use the latest version of the BiG World stuff.

At this point, I'm not really doing much Baldur's Gate related. More focused on Skyrim modding and the Born of Legend tabletop roleplaying game. Don't expect much activity here.

Hi there William, and thanks for the help.
Yes, that's the version I used to bypass the first error and get to the second. I assumed it was an older one, sorry for the mistake.
Still stuck on the FixPack missing thing. Should I use another version than the one I pointed to?

There is the BiG World fixpack, and the BG2 Fixpack. Two seperate things. Get both and use them.

@William Imm: He said that patch is not executed but halted someway, it will not help if he fetches "new" stuff since the patch.exe still would be the same.
I guess that there still something left that effects the patch.exe

THINK! - It's not illegal.

And that was what I was missing... I swear I have read through the list of mods at least three times and totally bypassed it because I keep thinking I already had a newer version.
Thanks for the help.
Edit, to dabus: Actually, that was with the Setup, rather than the Install.bat, which I realize is outdated. I'll try with the install.bat first and the correct BG2 fixpack. Hopefully it will work this time

The installer has finally found my folder and the BG Fixpack. So, two new questions:
What should I do with the mods that are a .exe file (for example, the BG Fixpack itself)? Run them before the install.bat? After the install? They aren't recognized by the install.bat while displaying the list of mods in the BGII folder.
Second question: I'm still getting the blank msdos screen and the patch not working (see pic). Any ideas how to fix this?

About fixpack and other self extracting archives: Get 7-zip, open the exe as an archive, and extract to the Baldur's Gate directory
About patch blank window: check your UAC settings and make sure it's disabled. I've had that happen before, but on a MinGW related thing.
