Wizard/Priest Spell Problem

Hi all,

I am having trouble with some of my spells in a BWP Mega-Mod install (used BWS application "Recommended BWP" settings with a few additions). I currently have SCSI & SCSII installed with pre-casting enabled. As of now I am still going through BG1 of my BGT game.

Currently I have a level 4 Wild Mage and the problem occurs when I face off against enemy mage NPCs. Since pre-casting is enabled with SCS, the enemy mages cast a bunch of protection spells, making the fight more difficult. What I am noticing is that the effects of some spells are not enabling when they should be.

Two prime examples that I have been using as tests are Magic Missile & Dispel Magic (Priest version). Facing off against Lendarn(enemy mage inside the Firewine Ruins), his pre-cast spells are:

Shield
Mirror Image
Ghost Armor
Improved Invisibility
Minor Globe of Invulnerability

Using Viconia's Dispel Magic (she is currently lvl 5 in my game, giving dispel a 55% chance to dispel Minor Globe), I have repeatably tried to dispel the Minor Globe of Invulnerability but to no effect, and I've tried to dispel it countless times. When I tried using the innate version of the spell, it works perfectly fine.

Same with Magic Missile. Once Minor Globe dissipates on its own, Magic Missile should be at least hitting the Mirror Images, but the spell hits the target without doing anything. The innate version of the spell works perfectly.

I've tried it with other mage npcs as well. Kahrk the Ogre Mage at the Firewine Ruins casts the same protection spells (with the addition of Haste) and the above problems happen as well.

If anyone can provide some insight, that would be great.

Well, the Minor Globe should protect from spells on and under the level 3, and the clerics Dispel Magic is 3rd level spell, so it's protected against.

The Secret Word will dispel that for sure, and the Spell Thrust might, but the Improved Invisibility might hide the target from the ST, but not from SW.

Same with Magic Missile. Once Minor Globe dissipates on its own, Magic Missile should be at least hitting the Mirror Images, but the spell hits the target without doing anything. The innate version of the spell works perfectly.

This is because the Shield spell protects from Magic Missiles.

There is a description on this link for the spell. Says that MGoI can be brought down by Dispel Magic. Plus the innate version of the spell dispelled it :(.

There is a description on this link for the spell. Says that MGoI can be brought down by Dispel Magic. Plus the innate version of the spell dispelled it :(.

Well, can you say that that's the description of the spell in your game... as the mods that changes this behavior can change a lot of this stuff ... And to find the criminal mod that did, you can change-log the spwi406.spl file.

:blush: Oops sorry about the Magic Missile problem. Hmmm... maybe the innate version is broken then?

Well, the thing here is, the Innate spells don't actually cast the same spell as the normal. As in they use different files. So yeah, the innate spell is "broken", but only so far as the mod that gives that, didn't patch the Shield spell.

I got a little confused when the Innate spells were acting differently then the Wizard/Priest spells. I think everyone is working fine :D
