Hi Guys,

I have a questions about Icewind Dale II and touch attacks, specifically with animals.

It looks like the base AC is raised for animals "natural armor". Doesn't this make it harder for all touch attacks harder to hit boars, panthers, house cats, etc?

Shouldn't the base AC be 10 ( or 9 if they are dire animals ), and the Natual Armor be handled by adjustments to crushing, slashing, piercing, and missle?

Does crushing, slashing, piercing, and missle even work in Icewind Dale II like it did in Baldurs Gate? It looks largely unused...

OR - do touch attacks somehow magically know that they have to beat an AC of 10 + dex, deflection, and specials? I doubt it.

Best,

Hi Guys,

I did some tests and figured out how touch attacks work in IWD II.

AC actually is the base armor class in Incwind Dale II. I think that was obvious...
Also, the game doesn't magically know how touch attacks work. Agian... not amazing news.
Animals, dragons, demons, etc with high AC are much harder to hit with touch attacks when they "shouldn't" be. My guess is natural armor was tied to them to prevent players *cheesing* super bosses with HARM.
Icewind Dale II does pretty follow the "rules", http://dandwiki.com/...SRD:Armor_Class for touch attacks. But it DOES include Shield Bonus to AC when defending against touch attacks.... conceptually I get that.

I should be able to contine on my own. Hope someone finds this info useful :)

Best,
