I have a quick question. Some spells with 30" radius use DVMSWARM.PRO wich has an explosion size of 256, other spells use BGNAREA.PRO with an explosion size of 450. Am i missing something or has the latter spell a much higher radius?

Both spells say in the description 30" radius, as do other 256 explosion size projectiles. I wonder if BGNAREA.PRO which is centered on the caster has a radius that is actually bigger than 30".Could very well be that the projectiles effect is limited to the bite... that is 255....

In a lot of cases, the spell descriptions say radius when what they mean is diameter. I.e. fireball states a 30' radius, but it's actually a 15' radius (30' diameter). If it was a 30' radius it would be impossible to cast and not hit yourself, as visual range is 30'.

Ah, that makes sense. So 256 is 15' and 450 30' radius more or less.

Yeah, and IIRC the IESDP description repeats the mistake as well. To get Color Spray up to 30' range we had to increase the projectile to 400-something.
