I've never made a MOD myself, but I want to over this summer. I just want to see if this would be appealing to ANYONE besides myself, because I'm confidant I'll love it.

The name of this character is a problem, cuz while I was playing the PC that inspired this idea, I gave the PC the name Rash'Jan. I was in a goofy mood and this resulted in the fact that this name CANNOT leave me now. So for now his name is Rash'Jan.

I'll just give the background on him and tell you that he is an assassin. I'm not sure if I want him to be a human, elf or half-elf. Sorry to all the pro-halfings out there, but I want Rash'Jan to be tall.

Background:

When asked about his past, RASH'JAN's expression darkens and his voice is but a whisper as he responds with 'I was born, I had a lousy childhood, and now I'm with you.' However, once the words return to him, Rash'Jan smiles and promises you that his past was not any more interesting than all the other assassins' who wondered the streets at night. He explains that he worked with the Shadow Thieves for a few years before he was forced out of the guild. No matter what you say, Rash'Jan refuses to go in depth about his relation with the Shadow Thieves, but you assume that one day the mysterious charmer may reveal something of interest....

Character:

I know it's been done THOUSANDS of times, but Rash'Jan is witty and sarcastic. With the ladies he's witty, charming and a smooth-talker. A lot of the times he'll speak with random women in exchange for gold or information (like Rosie in the Bridge Disrict) He'll hit on any woman once. I imagine him as some what of a smartass too. One conversation I have planned for Rash'Jan between him and Jaheira is:

Rash'jan: You need to get more sleep, Jaheira.

Jaheira: What's THAT suppose to mean, thief?

Rash'Jan: You look cute when you sleep.

Jaheira: Wh-? Ahem, th-thank you. I suppose...

Rash'Jan: Besides you're getting rings under your eyes. It's scaring off the children lately, townspeople aren't too happy.

Jaheira: How DARE you?! I sh-

Rash'Jan: I've heard it all before Jaheira, I'm immune to any of your comebacks.

Jaheira: You think you're so smart, well I-

Rash'Jan: Again.... I'm immune

Oh yeah, he's really good looking and Dex and Cha will be his strong points... :D

Romance:

First of all you'll find Rash'Jan once you leave the Slums for the first time. I need to explain why this is so. I noticed that all the orignal female romance NPC, Jaheira, Viconia and Aerie, all are joinable AFTER the PC saves them. I thought this was a bit intentional, giving it the 'dasmel in distress' scenario. And for Anomen, you meet him in a tavern, which is kind of a scenario again, meeting the man of your dreams in a shady tavern...
Rash'Jan is suppose to be met in a mixture of the first and second scenario. You'll be waylaid by bandits on your first trip out of the slums, in one of the shady alleys on the outskirts of the slums. You'll accidently walk in as Rash'Jan is about to be killed by a group of assassins. He'll call out to you for help, and if your character is evil (or if you are just evil) he'll offer two hundred coins for assistance and his servitude as an assassin. If you don't help him, he dies, if you take him you need to kill off the assassins and the romance begins, if you are female. I'm thinking about having the romance for Half-orcs, elves, humans, and half-elves.
Anyway, basically Rash'Jan will explain his troubles with the Sahdow Thieves and other guilds in other parts of Faerun. Being Chaotic Neutral, he screwed a lot of people over, but most famous was his mess up with Ama and her guild (I forgot their name) I don't want to give away too much though. THe PC will have to work hard to convince Rash'Jan to stop flirting and that settling down is a good thing and etc. At one point I hope for something to happen that will either threaten Rash'Jan's life or the PC's but either way Rash'Jan will realise his love for you and you'll leave happily ever after. Amen

I'll post his stats later, if anyone is interested. Please respond with any comments or suggestions. Like a suggestion for a name maybe, since this name is weird.

This is the strongest motivation to do it, so I say give it a try and see what happens. :)

As for the plan - it is a sound, good recipy, imo. An elven rogue womanizer hitting on every lady who falls seriously for PC in the end indeed has been done before, but honestly, that's no reason to worry, because everyone interprets the same scenario differently.

I agree with Domi, the best reason to mod something is because you *want* to do it. I would add though, that do not let him grind every other NPC to dust just to show of his wittiness - there are some pretty wordy NPC already in the game and they should be able to stand their ground. I also hope that he will be able to laugh to himself too; any decent ladies' man is not afraid to ridicule himself a little to make his lady love smile. :)
Ihmeellinen meri

Kummalliset kalat liukuvat syvyydessä,
tuntemattomat kukat loistavat rannalla;
olen nähnyt punaista ja keltaista ja kaikki toiset värit -
mutta ihana meri on vaarallista nähdä,
se herättää tulevien seikkailujen janon:
mitä on tapahtunut sadussa, on tapahtuva minullekin.

Thanks for the reviews!

I was just wondering if anyone knows a REALLY easy guide to creating a MOD. I'm such a MOD virgin, haha

So how about the name? Rash'Jan ok?

I'm not planing on him being like the Wittiest guy in all of Faerun. There will be many people who shot him down and out wit him, and some people he'll just leave alone (wit-wise).

I decided to make him.... a half-elf.

I don't want him JUST to be a womaniser. He should be like that saying 'Still water runs deep.' He's basically a charmer, a smooth-talker, etc. I posted a story about Rash'Jan on fanfiction.net recently. I thought it be best if I write his entire history first THEN try out creating a MOD. He's characters is better explained in the story; http://www.fanfictio...storyid=1915476

He won't hit on every woman, now that I think of it that's too much. I would be annoyed, as a player, to have a dialogue pop up all the time, hitting on other NPC. It's over-kill. He'll just hit on three or two, and the PC is different of course.

Please check out the story, there's only one chapter and it's pretty short. Sorry if this sounds pathetic, I just want people to see how Rash'Jan is suppose to be protrayed. Don't worry, there are no spoilers in the first chapter.

I have seen your story on FF, and it is a good way to "try out" the character - I do it myself, when I want to see how a dialogue will take place.

The good steps I would advise a beginner modder are:

-Browse IESDP. Know that it is there and do not try to read through all of it just yet. But try to see teh difference between the Triggers and Actions

-Download NI and make it work for you. Familarize yourself with CRE BCS, ARE and IDS files

-Download WeiDU, read the basic documentation, make it work and learn how to extract/compile files.

-Download Context

-Work your way through Ghrey's How to Create a Simple NPC Tutorial placing attention on every step and trying to understand what file you are working with and where it goes in the game.

- Work your way through Blue/JC's "Road to Banter Tutorial

- Work your way through Sim's Scripting Guide

- Download and study one of the One Day NPC's mods (Gareth, perhaps), as they come with "raw" codes.

A male character romanceable by females? Wow, that is suprising. I thought all the women here in the modding community were gay/bisexual and thus content with the female-female romances finding their way onto everyone's computers. Could it be that some straight women actually play Baldur's Gate 2 after all? *Gasps in shock*.

Please... I like making sarcastic remarques myself about my pet-peeves, but
this is not only a blanket statement aimed to critisize all female players but also is quite... untrue, providing that majority of romances in development/proposed to development are not bisexual or homosexual, and looking at continuing success of "classical" modded romances such as Kelsey. I appreciate that you like Christine's idea, and simply telling her that most probably will please her much more than if you include a veiled insult to other mod makers and users into your post.

I agree with Domi, there aren't that many bisexual/homosexual MODs for female PC. Not many that have been completed anyway.

At least I know some people will be looking forward to this MOD :D

Thanks to everyone, and I will work on this MOD for my summer project, since I'm not going anywhere special and am working.
