#382704 Comments on the Compatibility Guide

[*]Beyond the Law ( v1.35) [link] - Beyond the Law is conceptually incompatible with the "Additional equipment for Thieves and Bards" component of Rogue Rebalancing since Arledrian (who is an important plot character in BTL) leaves during the "A Missing Fence?" quest which is introduced by this component.


What exactly will happen if a user installs both RR and BtL in regards to Arledrian? Does conceptual incompatibility mean that the BtL portion of the game cannot be completed, or simply that there is some sort of continuity problem wherein Arledrian can seem to have two different fates? And if the former, is there a way you could update RR to make the Arledrian portion of the mod separate from the Additional Equipment portion?

While I can't comment on the specifics, I can verify that BGT v1.05, Divine Remix, and Refinements are all compatible with one another.  I have all three installed currently and don't have any problems with weapon restrictions.



#363996 Not Quite Slowdown

No idea if this has been resolved yet or not (being a few weeks old and all), but this could easily be due to enabling 3D Acceleration under Windows Vista. Multiple users of Vista have reported similar lag with BG2 when 3D Acceleration is enabled in BGConfig. Try disabling it and the problem should disappear.



#362570 Windows Vista and BGT-WeiDU

I too have recently installed BG2 and a bunch of mods onto Windows Vista, and found the process to be on the whole painless.  BGT seemed to install without any issues, although I did run into some problems with WinRAR being unable to create new directories due to the entire BG2 directory being set to Read-Only (unfortunately, for whatever reason whenever I turn off the Read-Only flag and close that particular window, it immediately resets back to it).  I did not have to switch out of my default User Account or change any compatibility settings.

And while it's highly unintuitive, those have problems with menu slowdowns or such things should disable the 3D acceleration within BGConfig and try again.  This seems to have eliminated this 'lag' from the majority of installs.  A brief smattering of information on this can be found on Bioware forums.



#347293 Compatibility with Quest Pack and/or RR

On various recommendations, I would like to install and use this mod on my next planned playthrough. From the Overview, I did notice that, at least plot wise, changes are made to various important characters, including Rayic Gethras, Corneil, Arledrian, and others. Will these components interfere with other similar changes from either Quest Pack or Rogue Rebalancing?

with NI open up AR0603.ARE  Hit the Edit tab.  go down to 'Info, trigger or exit point'  and look for 'DeadKhalid'.  cut that line out then save it. that should stop Jahiera's talk about Khalid death.


I don't suppose I can use NI to repair the script such that the proper dialogue will fire when Jaheria steps up to Khalid's body rather than simply deleting the script entirely? I found the relevant dialogue and script, but I don't know enough yet to make whatever changes are needed.

EDIT: Nevermind.  I went in and set the proper Global value for Jaheria to trigger the script, and the scene then worked as normal, cancelling the repeated trigger once it had properly run once.

yep -- Gwyned is using a version marked "v12", with no special stuff afterwards - might be v12 Beta3, but if so I really need to do some digging (again).

As far as I can tell, this is fixed internally with the correct statenumbers put into place; Chevalier, if you get a chance, can you please recheck that it is working correctly in the latest Beta (or in the internal versions)?

If you are not sure how to use NI, PM me, and I will set you up with a full set of instructions (or post here, and between the folks here and I we can all get something together for you quickly :) )


I've done just a little bit of digging around in NI, but not enough to know exactly what I would need to look for to investigate and make the changes needed.  According to the readme for BG1NPC, it is v.12 Beta 3 dated Oct. 2006.

I suspected it was BG1NPC and not some other mod due to how similar it was to other BG1NPC bugs I encountered in previous versions, just as either Imoen in CI or Kivan during BG1 getting stuck on a reoccuring script that mimiced the one that runs whenever you run a player initiated dialogue.  Fortunately, on this run through, I didn't encounter any of those problems...which was a first, particular for the scene with Imoen and the pickled man Rielev.  Even the infamous Jaheria's quest in Cloakwood worked perfectly.  

I'm happy to poke around in NI for a bit, but a few pointers would be delightful.

Ah, and while I'm here, I now remember one other small bug.  The club that Jaheria receives a reward for her quest in BG1 still does not display an icon in the inventory screen.  It was fixing this little bug that gave me my first taste of NI.

Latest run through BGT produced an error associated with BG1 NPC.  I am using BGT 104 and BG1 NPC v.12 Beta 3.  In Chateau Irenicus, when Jahiera reaches Khalid, rather than activating her normal script, she activates the script usually accessed by force-talking her with the protagonist.  The script fires over and over again as long as she is in the area.  Soon as she leaves the area, the script stops.

I have experienced no other problems along the way.  Thanks for assistance and hope this info is helpful.

Weidu.log as follows: (Note, uninstalled BG1NPC to see if I could get the Khalid script back...but instead it just does the normal stutter-step as the non-existent script fires.  So I reinstalled it just for kicks, and that is reflected in my current log)
