#399716 Playing Torment for the very first time (lucky me!)

Posted by Bursk on 12 June 2008 - 01:13 PM in PS:T Tweaks

I'll also be using the G3 Widescreen mod when I play.  I've had a good look through the readme, but I'm still not sure what's good for a newbie.

For those mods that change things graphically e.g. Use Floating Text Font Globally, Easter Egg Morte etc, would it be possible to see some before/after screenshots?

Edit: Oh, and regarding the Widescreen mod, I've read that there are 'hidden containers' in Torment, so will I still be able to find these when running at 1280x800?  That's the res I'm using for Tutu and BG2 on a 20 inch screen.

#389263 Curious stuttering issue with Shapeshifting fix -> Heal on shifting

Posted by Bursk on 25 April 2008 - 03:54 PM in Refinements

It's 12:45am here and I haven't had a chance to test things thoroughly, but it seems that the above component is causing my game to pause every other second when the protagonist is in shapeshifted form.  The game is fine when my druid (I chose an avenger, and haven't yet tried any other kits) is in human form, but as soon as I shapeshift the game freezes for a second, then unfreezes, then freezes again etc.

If I turn back to human, the freezing goes away until I shapeshift to another form.  Also, what is interesting is that if I stay shapeshifted but then select another character, the freezing goes away, even though the protagonist is still in shapeshift form.  So it only seems to occur with the protagonist shapeshifted and selected.

I freed Jaheria from her cage and had her shapeshift, but there wasn't any freezing.  Here's my WeiDU.log (I installed all these mods with WeiDU 20600):

Maybe someone else could do a quick test for me and see if they have the same problem.  The problem goes away if I uninstall the Shapeshifting fix, so I'm sure it's that that's causing this (if not, I'm sure bigg will politely let me know).  I'll hopefully get a chance to do more testing tomorrow, but for now it would be a big help if this could be checked on a different machine to my own.

#375369 1ppv3: Paperdolls

Posted by Bursk on 06 February 2008 - 10:15 AM in 1PP

Just to add my (2p, 2c - pick your country); I cannot remember the last time I played any form of BG2 without your replacement avatars. It really is obvious how much work has gone into this project and I too am very, very grateful for it. Absolutely brilliant work - my eternal thanks for your time and effort. :coolthumb: :D

-Y-

It's funny that you should say that, because it's now second nature to play the game with 1PP installed. Occasionally, after doing a fresh install, I'll load up the game and just dick around a little, and will be horrified by the stock graphics!

#375340 Could someone help me make a minor edit to a Hathor Viconia edit?

Posted by Bursk on 06 February 2008 - 07:48 AM in Layers of Reality

Hey, that new version is really good!

I agree that there's no practical reason to spend ages tweaking the portrait, but I've actually started enjoying doing this. I think I'll spend a little while working on your polished version, vilkacis, just to make sure that all the lines are as clean as possible (like I said, more for fun than anything). I'll upload the finished version once it's done; may not be for another week or so.

Thanks again for all your help.

#374121 Could someone help me make a minor edit to a Hathor Viconia edit?

Posted by Bursk on 29 January 2008 - 05:38 AM in Layers of Reality

For anyone who's interested, here's what I've managed to do so far. I did have some trouble doing the highlighted areas, as even the smallest Liquify brush size is still a little bigger than the area I want to use it on. Still, after carefully checking each of my changes against the original, I'm pretty happy with the results. It's not exactly the same, but it's pretty close I reckon.

I'm going to continue working on it tomorrow.

#374010 Could someone help me make a minor edit to a Hathor Viconia edit?

Posted by Bursk on 28 January 2008 - 01:46 PM in Layers of Reality

Thanks again, vilkacis.

I've borrowed my mate's copy of Photoshop 7, and have spent about 5 hours playing around with the Liquify filter, and I simply cannot get the part where the edge of the cloak disappears off to the side to look right. I either have the angle of the cloak all wrong, or the edge of the cloak doesn't look right compared to the rest of it (I see you had a similar problem).

I think I'll just send Hathor an email and hope that he/she can do this edit for me.

I hope I don't sound ungrateful, vilkacis, and appreciate your help.

Edit: I've sent the Email. I've decided to have another go at editing the remainder of the picture, but will leave the edge of the cloak alone for the time being. If Hathor does pop in, then hopefully by then only the cloak will need doing.

#373790 Could someone help me make a minor edit to a Hathor Viconia edit?

Posted by Bursk on 27 January 2008 - 11:52 AM in Layers of Reality

Thanks. I notice you've made some changes to the original other than just re-doing the line of pixels at the far end (don't know if you meant to do that). It's noticeable if you flick between the original and your one, but it's definitely better without the black line.

Might I ask what you did, exactly?

Oh, and I think a friend of mine has photoshop, so maybe I can practice on that for how to do this myself in future. Is it possible with photoshop to zoom right in, copy the colour of one pixel and use that colour on another pixel?

#373765 Could someone help me make a minor edit to a Hathor Viconia edit?

Posted by Bursk on 27 January 2008 - 09:33 AM in Layers of Reality

I've been using one of Hathor's Viconia edits for a while now, but I've recently got back into BG and have noticed that the row of pixels on the far right of the image is the wrong colour. Mostly it's a black line, but towards the top there's some white. You'll see what I mean if you zoom right in and look at the right-hand side of the image. I'm surprised I hadn't noticed this before, since it seems really noticeable in-game, especially if you're browsing through the available portraits during chargen.

Anyway, I was wondering if there's anyone out there who could fix this row of pixels somehow. I suppose copying the colour of the last but one row of pixels and then pasting that might do it. Sadly, I only have MS Paint available to me, so I don't think I can do such a thing myself.

Could you offer to give him something as a reward for traveling with you? 'here Keldorn take 5000 gold for your time and go back to your wife' (by that time 5k isn't much I usually am walking around with 100+K, unless I just gave it all to Cespenar)

Yeah, that's a really nice idea. Of course, Keldorn would probably refuse, saying that it had been an honour etc. But other, more greedy or needy NPCs would take it.

Azazello,

I don't really understand your first comment, but beer is always welcome.

I look forward to seeing what your frozen results are. My "that this mod works alongside those listed" bit was regarding whether e.g. changes to Imprisonment from Bigg Tweaks would work alongside changes to Imprisonment from this mod. I've done some testing and found that no, the changes do not work together. Bigg's mod continues to treat Imprisonment as a really long Maze spell (which means it's working correctly), but the creatures do not drop their loot prior to being imprisoned. So it is compatible with Bigg Tweaks, but only Bigg Tweaks changes apply.

I hope that pro5 finds this type of feedback useful, and that he'll one day be able to implement the petrification change.

#340883 Vedran's Lost Items

Posted by Bursk on 29 August 2007 - 05:13 AM in Miscellaneous Released Mods

Will do. I think it's a good change for Monks, and would like to be able to have it when starting a BG2 game with a new Monk, not just when importing a Monk from a Tutu game.

Thanks for your help.

Posted by Bursk on 29 August 2007 - 04:37 AM in Miscellaneous Released Mods

Oh, okay. Just out of interest, why is it that you can't use this component in a new BG2 game? I mean, why restrict people to only having the bonuses in BGT/Tutu?

#340515 Vedran's Lost Items

Posted by Bursk on 28 August 2007 - 05:56 AM in Miscellaneous Released Mods

Probably a stupid question, but can I use the Monk component in my BG2 game? I only ask because the Requirements section says the mod needs BGT or Tutu. I'd like to use this component in my Tutu game, but would then like my Monk to continue to get the bonuses once I've transferred him over to BG2.

#340257 P5Tweaks

Posted by Bursk on 27 August 2007 - 11:56 AM in Miscellaneous Released Mods

I've only just discovered this mod, and have some questions:

1. Has anyone found any instances where 'Drop Items on Frozen Death' fails to work?
2. When you are imprisoned and then freed under normal i.e. non-modded circumstances, do you reappear with all your items, so that you're in the exact same state as before you were imprisoned? If so, I'm assuming that this mod changes that, so you'll reappear naked (as it were) since all your items dropped to the ground when you were imprisoned.
3. Other than using a mage/sorcerer or scroll to cast Imprisonment, are there any items in the game that can also cast it?
4. Does this mod also have a 'Drop Items on Petrification' element? You need to be careful casting Chromatic Orb at levels 10 and 11, for example.

Finally, I'm confused by post #12 onwards. Does this mod need to be updated before I should use it? I don't really understand that "scripts, that are connected to summons" bit.

Thanks a lot.

Edit: Oh, I forgot to ask if you can now have the Gore option turned on and not worry about items being destroyed when you chunk an opponent. Is that one of the things this mod does?

Also, and this is probably a daft question, can I get confirmation that this mod works alongside those listed in the "specific compatibility list and recommendations for existing mods" bit, rather than overwriting their changes?

#339616 sort of a release.

Posted by Bursk on 25 August 2007 - 08:12 AM in 1PP

I'm delighted to hear that a new version is being worked on. I was slightly confused by all the mini releases and what to do with them, so saving a new version that installs in the same way as version 2 will be great for people like me. I know it's been said many times already, but the quality of the mod is astonishing.

#338917 Stone to Flesh bug in Tutu?

Posted by Bursk on 23 August 2007 - 12:37 PM in The Bigg Tweaks

Ah, but which party members are going to have 25 Int without cheating? None that I can think of. It sounds like a non-issue to me.

Thanks for your help, Bigg. ^_^

#338879 Stone to Flesh bug in Tutu?

Posted by Bursk on 23 August 2007 - 10:30 AM in The Bigg Tweaks

Can anyone please confirm if this problem still exists in v2.10? If so, I guess the simple solution is just not to use it in Tutu?

Also, the old version of the mod had this text regarding the Imprisonment Fix:

Due to how I implemented this, it's advised that you never get 25 int by cheating or whatever. Also, some creatures won't be imprisoned properly (if they are immune to int-modifying), and others will be imprisoned when "Maze" is cast on them (if they have 25 int: Mordenkainen's sword and Kuroisan, and they both are immune to imprisonment, so... :) ).

Is this still the case with v2.10? I'm guessing not, since that text no longer appears in the readme, but I'd just like to double-check. If it is still the case, would it be best if I didn't cast the Mordenkainen's Sword spell at all, so that no enemy mages will accidently imprison it?

Cheers.
