#606938 Help with BiG World Project v18.1

Posted by tomkaz on 05 July 2019 - 05:15 PM in Mega Mod Help

Hi All:

I have a spoiler in #15 above.  I got messed up trying to explain what it is.  So hear is the explanation.

The spoiler is a copy of my modified individual.bat that I made for my current game.  Up until now, all my megamod games were mess up and crashed so I could I could not play a megamod game.  Then I tried what is in the Spoiler above, and the megamod game works fine.  I started with 220 files.  Most of the mods installed including Auroras Shoes and Boots, atweaks, and some others.  In a test version where I skipped lots and killed tough characters with CTRL-Y, I was able to finish Baldur's Gate and start Shadows of Amn. At the present time I have finished Nashkel Mines and lots of almost all the areas around Beregost.  Some very minor problems which got corrected by restarting the game.  A major area with Lighthouse (The Lure of the Sirine's Call) because I forgot to leave out component #2 from version 15.

There are lots of NPCs I have skipped as I am saving that for another day.  I give no guarantees, but nafter over 25 tries to make a megamod game this is the first success I have had. Perhaps the instructions meant to do this and I misread them.

Now for some problems not related to how individual.bat was edited, but missing components.

I use ITEM_REV, #12 [Items of Protection Can Be Worn with Magical Armor]?.  I still get limited to one magic item.  Maybe I should use CDTWEAKS,  ”Wear Multiple Protection Items” 2151 #2] No Restrictions.  If anyone know how to fix it so I can use multiple magical protection items at the same time. I would appreciate that information.

I skipped Big Picture because I read comments that said not to mix Big Picture and Stratagems.  If you have mixed these two, please tell me the secret to doing that.

Right now I am running the same megamod game on two computers.  I found I can swap a game from one computer to another by just moving the BGII - SoA file.  This way a can continue to play the game while I am trying out new new mods and components or fixing my mistakes.

I apologise for the way I mess the Spoiler by putting it on top above.  You can find all the mods and components I used in that Spoiler.

Hope this information helps someone,

Tom

#606660 Help with BiG World Project v18.1

Posted by tomkaz on 17 May 2019 - 04:29 PM in Mega Mod Help

Hi semaj577:

Thanks for the reply.  Your explanation is great.  It covers all of the details.  On of the best I have seen.  I had some minor surgery and need anther days rest.  I will read it now and then use the information to fix aTweaks v4.53.  BWPv18.1 uses WeiDU 244.  I already deleted v246 so I do not expect to have any trouble.

Thanks again,

TOM

#606830 Help with BiG World Project v18.1

Posted by tomkaz on 10 June 2019 - 08:34 AM in Mega Mod Help

Hi Greenhorn:

Thanks for the information.  I used "Sirines Call_v14.zip" which is the recommended mod in BiG World Project v18.1.  Component #2 is Extended Lighthouse Area which was installed.  It is now removed for the next game.

I should have read the read_me for version 15. The "Sirines Call_v15.zip" in the readme.html file states "fixed crashing Lighthouse Area in BG:EE and EET for installed component "Extended Lighthouse Area" ".  I wonder if it was fixed for the BGT game?

Thanks again for your help,

Tom

OOPS!  I just checked the WeiDU.log in BiG World Project v18.1.  Leonardo used "Sirines Call_v15.zip" in that game.

#606804 Help with BiG World Project v18.1

Posted by tomkaz on 06 June 2019 - 11:59 AM in Mega Mod Help

Hi All:

I spent a lot of time creating a megamod game.  Started with BWP.PDF Section 1 and added Sections as each was played and tested.  I think I have a working game.

Found some bugs, but I was able to work around them.  They did not cause the game to crash.  The bugs were expected.

I have two similar computer setups.  One worked well but the other crashed when I played the same exact game.  Tried to reinstall my version, but could not.  Called Microsoft for help.  Found out my version of Windows 7 PRO 64 bit was an older version.  Microsoft emailed me the latest version (for free) which worked with my key.  Fixed many problems.  That service is good as long Windows 7 is supported.

A few problems that I cannot fix.  In The Bigg Tweak Pack v2.61, I cannot get the dropped spellbooks to work.  May be a bug.  I would appreciate it if someone would post instructions on how to use the spellbooks.  The other is that I would like to get Fishing for  Trouble to install.  I have several versions, but not install.  I would appreciate the name of the version (not the entire mod) that works and/or where to find it.

Finally, I believe I was editing "individual.bat" incorrectly.  For example:

findstr /I /M "ASCENSION.TP2~.*#.*#0./ " %ELOG%>nul

if not errorlevel 1 (
          call %EINST% astScriptPatcher "0"
)

If I wanted to delete astScriptPatcher, I would do the following:

GOTO SKIP0022
findstr /I /M "ASCENSION.TP2~.*#.*#0./ " %ELOG%>nul
if not errorlevel 1 (
          call %EINST% astScriptPatcher "0"
)

:SKIP0022

Now I tried the following:

findstr /I /M "ASCENSION.TP2~.*#.*#0./ " %ELOG%>nul

if not errorlevel 1 (
          REM call %EINST% astScriptPatcher "0"
)

This seems to work much better and without crashes.

Finally, the current megamod game game has about 215 mods.  The seem to be working OK together.  I have yet to get to BG2 which frequently was my crash point.  This game include some mods which I could not include with my older method of editing "individual.bat".

#607433 Help with BiG World Project v18.1

Posted by tomkaz on 19 September 2019 - 06:18 PM in Mega Mod Help

Hi everyone:

Good to see Spellhold Studios back.

I finished Baldur's Gate in my megamod game.  Lots of harder enemies and challenges.  Two monsters could not be killed, bone golems  in Ulcaster.

But with luck I killed Sarevok.  Belt sends me to Athkatla.  The game freezes at that point and even after a long time, stays black.

Started a Shadows of Amn game from scratch and added Giggs (me), Imoen, Jaheira and Minsc from Baldur's Gate.  Lots of problems caused by a very difficult monsters and game game.  I search for original easy game sections to build up characters.  Found a few. Biggest problem is that Nalia dies when I enter The Copper Coronet.  I cannot pick up her body and it shortly disappears.  I am going to search the Grave Yard next.

Any suggestions for for where to fined super armor and supper weapons would be appreciated.  Got the best I found in Athkatla, but I still take a terrific beating and cannot finish the quest.  In some places, running away to get fewer enemies works.

Thanks for any suggestions as I would play this mod again if I found out how to play from Baldur's Gate to Shadow of Amn.

#606825 Help with BiG World Project v18.1

Posted by tomkaz on 09 June 2019 - 09:05 AM in Mega Mod Help

Hi semaj577:  Hi The Imp:

Interesting comments.  I never used Notepad++ so I down loaded Notepad++ v7.7.  I installed my copy of individual.bat to Notepad  and Notepad++ and compared the files.  Notepad++ has some very nice features, but I am not sure the final result is better.  Notepad++ has nice color and '>nul' and the end of the 'findstr' lines.  With a little more work, you can get color and text with Microsoft Word and WordPerfect. Also the spacing and functions with Notepad++ was nicer than with Notepad.  But my final assessment is to use the one you are more familiar with.  For me, today I would use Notepad because I am not familiar with the commands of Notepad++.  As I learn Notepad++, I may switch to using it.

The only lines in Notepad++ that had a comment at the end of a line was the >nul at the end of the 'findstr' line.  I did not know what to expect at the end ot the other lines.  Maybe there was another code to turn on.  As I said, I am new to Notepad++ (only 15 minutes) so I do not know what each key does and there are a lot of keys. I also was confused about the word wrap comments.  (Notice, I am confused about lots of things.) Here again, Notepad++ has a nice way to display the line continuation.  It changes the color of the first word of the continuation line.

So the color features are a nice addition.  But, coloring words takes extra code.  Does this code go away when the file is saved.  Do the same colors come back when you reopen the file?  I will leave that to the designers of Notepad++.

Leonardo does a great job with BWP.  He recommends using Notepad for editing files.  The only thing I would like to see is how to edit inside 'findstr' sections.  Frequently, the lines in the findstr sections have other instructions.  So now I only use a REM in from of the findste sections that are CALL statements or have CALL statements in them. This seams to work for me.

I have run about 25 games in the past few weeks.  Starting with the necessary mods and mods from BWP.pdf v8.1.2 in Section 1.  Then adding the mods I want from each section until it works or fails.  Sometimes when they fail, I try a other version of the same mod.  Well this time, using my method to edit individual.bat, I do have a working game of about 220 mods. I am still in BG1.

Thanks for the comments. I am sure they help a lot of us megamod players.

#606827 Help with BiG World Project v18.1

Posted by tomkaz on 09 June 2019 - 11:54 AM in Mega Mod Help

Hi The Imp:

Thanks for the comments.  My game is almost going well.  Last night an area named Lighthouse crashed.  Tried several times and from several ways, but it crashes about 10 seconds after you enter the area.  Locks up the computer.  Since it is a original Baldur's Gate area, either my disc is bad or some mod altered the game improperly.  Tried reinstalling Baldur's Gate, but does not fix the area.  Easy to skip.  It is not required for the game.

Posted by tomkaz on 05 July 2019 - 05:23 PM in Mega Mod Help

Hi semaj577, thanks for the comment.

I tried all ways to control the mods I did not want.  The REMs was the only way that worked for me.  I probably will go back and try that not using all the REMs again some time in the future.  But for now I will stick with the REMs.  I still am exploring that it could be something in my main computer that is my problem.

#607479 Help with BiG World Project v18.1

Posted by tomkaz on 28 September 2019 - 08:35 AM in Mega Mod Help

I have not gotten any replies so I think I need to begin all over again.  I am in Shadows of Amn and in the early easy parts, but all I do is get higher and higher levels and loose critical characters.  It appears someone or some group has changed many mods to make them much harder.  So I will try to find walkthroughs for these new versions.

If anyone knows where these walkthroughs are, I would appreciate the URLs.

Tom

Oops!!!  I just found version 18.2.  I will try that.  I see the problem with Shadows of Amn and Imoen disappearing so I will just play Baldur's Gate until that fix is posted.

#606647 Help with BiG World Project v18.1

Posted by tomkaz on 14 May 2019 - 11:14 AM in Mega Mod Help

Hi All:

Do to my age, I am having some memory problems.  So I would appreciate some forgiveness when I repeat something or make dumb mistakes.

With BWP v18.1, I have no luck with a megamod game.  So far I have tried over 40 megamods this year and had very little luck with the mega modgame.  You name it, I have tried it.  I few times, I have gotten Baldur's Gate work to where I kill Sarevok, but I always crash where Mae Var captures me or in  Irenicus' stronghold in Athkatla.  Right now, I am starting with the mods in Corrections and Improvements and in BG1 sections.  I will try a megamod game with them,  If a game works, I will add each section untill I eliminate any problems.

I am having trouble with using SPOILERS.  I find the spoiler BB Code.  Open the box and type in the message, then save the spoiler.  This is what I get.

Spoiler
     Damn, this time it worked!

Please tell me how to correct the mistake (s) I make when I go ti save the spoiler.

Another problem I have is fixing atweaks v4.53.  I found this on Beamdog.  ",,,copy and rename a WeiDU executable from another mod."  My problem is I do not know what "a WeiDU executable" is.  Spent a log time trying to find that one,  Found lots of pages about WeiDU but nothing about executable.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Another wish.  I need to check out me computers.  What I could use is a BWP megamod that worked on another computer.  I would need a list of mods used, a copy of individual.bat if it was modified and the selections use for the game.  If anyone can provide that information, I really would appreciate that.

Thanks to all who can help,

TOM

#608661 BWPv18.2 released

Posted by tomkaz on 27 February 2020 - 05:47 PM in Mega Mod Help

Hi jastey:

Thanks for your comments about Windows 10.

I am looking at newer mods which I never used before. I found 23 newer mods in my Big World Downloads that I never played before.  I dropped them and am starting another BGII - SoA game.  I will keep that up until I get through Irenicus' dungeon and into Waukeen's Promenade. With 23 mods to check, this could take a while.

My spirits are a lot better now as I was mealy down yesterday.

Thanks again,

Tom

#608082 BWPv18.2 released

Posted by tomkaz on 07 December 2019 - 01:41 PM in Mega Mod Help

Hi All:

I have two games working right now.  But that does not guarantee they will be working till I get to BGII - SoA. Both games are  almost identical and use the WieDU.Log above.  The differences are: [A] AI conflicts {BP used #1 and SCS used #2} [B] Tweak conflicts {BP used #2 and SCS used #7}: [C] Encounters conflicts {BP used #1 and SCS used #2}.   There are ~33 choices to make during installation so the game may be similar.

My early opinion is that the game using SCS (I used Stratagems v31) plays a bit better.  Each has a few crashes, but all crashes but one fixed themselves when the games were rebooted from the crash spot.

I have one problem.  In component 19.60, The Bigg Tweak Pack v2.61 has a component where mages drop spell books.  I cannot get my mages to use the dropped spell books.  If someone knows how to use the spell books, please let me know how to do that.  I would also appreciate the address of the BIGG.  So far Google cannot determine that BIGG is different than BiG. Mean while I will keep on searching for The BIGG.

Thanks for any help,

Tom

#607850 BWPv18.2 released

Posted by tomkaz on 15 November 2019 - 08:01 AM in Mega Mod Help

Hi All:

Started two new games this morning.  They were suppose to be identical but there are some differences I do not understand.

I am using an A78M-A and A78M-E motherboards.  The major difference is the A76M-A has four memory slots and the A78M-E has two memory slots.  They have the same AMD CPU.  They have the same Windows 7 PRO 64 bit OS.

The BGII - SoA files have identical program files.  BiG World Downloads has the identical 256 mods.  The individual.bat files are identical.

So how or why should the games install differently???

In the A78M-A computer, when installing the mods from BiG World Downloads to BGii - SoA, the BiG World Install.bat transfers four copies of MADEINHEAVEN_ITEM PACK-MASTER.ZIP to BGII - SoA.

In the A78M-E computer, The BiG World Install, bat copies DR8_HOTFIX from individual.bat to BGII - SoA.  Even though the line containing DB8_HOTFIX starts with REM.

I cannot be sure, but watching the games install appears to be doing the installations at different rates.

Has anyone with two computers ever notices this on their computers?

Tom

#607540 BWPv18.2 released

Posted by tomkaz on 09 October 2019 - 12:42 PM in Mega Mod Help

Hi Leonardo:

Thank you for all your help.  I especially like your WeiDU.Log.

Earlier, I played several v18.2 games. The mods I used were minimum for game, Section 1, Section 1 to Section 6 (BG1), and Section 1 to Section 13 (BG1 + BG2). I did not include NPCs.  These games started without any problems.  It is only when I added mods from Section 14 and onward that I had troubles.  The more of these I added, the more trouble I had.  The trouble I had with saving games began when I added Stratagems v31.  These tests were run on two different computers with the same results.

When I tried to make a megamod game with v18.1, I found that I had success when I only included either Big Picture or Stratagems.  Adding both mods messed up the game.  This could be because I included conflicting components and did not carefully check them  so they did not interfere with each other.

Right now I only add components that I find in BiG World Project WeiDU.Log.  I assume that you use as many mods as you can and if the components worked for you, they would be safe for me.

Starting my 10th v18.2 megamod game with a fresh individual.bat.  The eighth v18.2 game use Big Picture for AI and the ninth v18.2 game used Stratagems v31 for AI.  Both had those two mods and failed when I tried to start them.

Thanks again for all your help,

TOM

#607656 BWPv18.2 released

Posted by tomkaz on 27 October 2019 - 01:48 PM in Mega Mod Help

Hi All:

I have a game started with 245 mods.  A few minor problems, mostly my own fault.  But so far the game is very playable. The color test failed but color is OK in  the game.  Characters started the game at ~level 8 in CandleKeep.  Initial random monsters are in groups of 10 but I assume that is because they begin the game at higher levels.  The only difference between this game an the previous two games is that the game was newly installed and the mods in BiG World Downloads are matched to the versions in BiG World Project.

I am using a 32 inch screen with WideScreen mod.  Any suggestions for a comfortable size.  I used 1600 x 900 but that is too small. I forgot what I did to prevent all the hidden stuff from being moved around.  Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hope all the others who may have had problems have as mush good luck as I have had.

#607550 BWPv18.2 released

Posted by tomkaz on 12 October 2019 - 11:56 AM in Mega Mod Help

Hi All:

My computer just crashed.  It could be the power supply, the mother board, or something else.  The Windows 7 mother board would be the hardest to replace.  My question is, will BiG World Project work with Windows 10 as well as Windows 7 did.

I would appreciate any comments from those using a Windows 10 computer.  If some brands of Windows 10 computers should be avoided, I would also like that information.

TOM

Sometimes things go in your favor.  I took it to Best Buy this morning and they got it fixed in ten minutes.  I am back to installing windows and BWP games.

#607734 BWPv18.2 released

Posted by tomkaz on 07 November 2019 - 06:14 PM in Mega Mod Help

Hi All:

It is very simple.  I need lots of help!

Here is what I did today.  Tried to make Game #20.  It failed.

I followed WeiDU.Log from Big World Project v18.2  The only mods and components I used were those that the WeiDU.Log showed were in that game.  Well there were a few exceptions.  These were CDTWEAKS "2151 2999 3000 3031 3190", ATWEAKS "502" and The Bigg Tweak Pack "1200 9000".

Due to trouble with installing some mods, I needed to use mods that were versions other than those in WeiDU.Log from Big World Project v18.2   But I did keep to the component numbers.

I used a modified "individual.bat".  There was a limited use of REM statements.  They were only used when a mod had some components installed and other components from the same mod removed.  If mods were not wanted, they were not added to BiG World Downloads.

One thing that I wondered about was the BGConfig.exe file.  I used it first to confirm BGII - SoA was working.  Then I used it in the game with the settings from the test run.

The game problems.  The initial fight on the Iron Throne roof  with Sarevok does not play.  You start the game in Candlekeep.  Meet a guard outside the Inn and tell the guard you will take the goods rather that work for them.  After the guard leaves, I try to save the game.  I cannot save the game immediately.  After a few tries, the game ends.  All I can do is restart the game over and over again.

I will put the individual.bat and WeiDU.log and try to post them tomorrow.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Tom

Hi DivideByo.  Hi The Imp.

Thank you for the information.  But as usual there is always a snag.  I just realized that my computer only works with Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.  I guess I will start to search out a new computer or a new motherboard.  I never use the C:\ drive for anything but the OS.

#607963 BWPv18.2 released

Posted by tomkaz on 26 November 2019 - 01:36 PM in Mega Mod Help

Hi All:

My BGT game is going along.  Finished the Nashkel Mines and starting other activities in that area.

I had two crashes, but a simple reboot fixed each problem like it never happened.  I only had trouble with containers.  There are a lot in the game.  Probably too many.  I will cut down the containers in my next game.  As you know, the more containers you have, the slower the game movement.  I limited the containers to one of each kind and the movement is back to normal.  In case I missed something about containers,  is there a way to use more containers with out losing movement speed?   In Atweaks #502, you can adjust the number of items in the containers.  If you increase the amount the containers can have, does that affect the movement speed?

I wish you all well,

Tom

#607486 BWPv18.2 released

Posted by tomkaz on 01 October 2019 - 02:02 AM in Mega Mod Help

Hi The Imp:

I do not agree with your last comment.  Here is my reason and some, not all, examples of differences in the WeiDU.Logs.

In the WeiDU.Log in BiG World Project v18.2 English.pdf, there are listed components for VCV21 v2.1, NEJ3V71 v7.1, BGT v1.20, MIH_EG v3, BG1UB v16.0, and Stratagems v31.  Stratagems 32.4 is not listed in WeiDU.Log but is in Section 19 with Stratagems v31.

In the WeiDU.Log in BiG World Project v18.1 English.pdf, the previous version, there are listed components for VCV10 v1.0, NEJ3V702 v7.02, BGT v1.20, no HIH_EG, BG1UB v15.1, and Stratagems v30.

Granted there sections of older mods which were copied from older versions of BiG World Project English.pdf into BiG World Project v18.2 English.pdf.  These do not need to be rewritten. But the differences in the WeiDU.Log sections of BiG World Project v18.1 and BiG World Project v18.2 indicate Leonardo runs a new megamod game for for each version of BiG World Project English.

Since Leonardo used Stratagems v31 for BiG World Project v18.2, as evidenced by the WeiDU.Log, I assume that for testing,  he is either using a 32 bit computer or there is an advantage for using Stratagems v31 over  Stratagems 32.4. That is why I ask if on a 64 bit computer, it would be better to use Stratagems v31 for compatibility with other mods.

Note that the first component of Stratagems v31 is #1000 and the first component of Stratagems 32.4 is #1500.

#608507 BWPv18.2 released

Posted by tomkaz on 20 January 2020 - 05:20 PM in Mega Mod Help

Hi All:

Just an update about my megamod BWP game.  The mods are in post #164.

I just finished Baldur's Gate/Tales of the Sword Coast.  I rate it a "B"/ "C" because there have been many changes in the mods which created minor errors in many mods.  It was obvious the changes were not checked with a megamod game.  But I was able to complete all the mods.  I got some crashes, but all would fix themselves with a single game reboot.

One serious error was with Temple of the Black Hand.  The area did not open automatically.  I used CLUAConsole:MoveToArea("AR60PB") to open that area.  Another serious error was with Krystin and Silthe.  If I killed them, the game crashed.  I had to coax Slythe away from the center of the Underground and then kill him.  I could not coax Krystin from the center so I used CTRL-Y to kill her.  These were the only errors that require work to finish the game.

I did get Shadows of Amn started without error.  I did take a very long time install with several black screens.  You need to be patient.

Hope everyone else is able to enjoy their megamod games.

Hi Leonardo:

Thank you for your response.

I have found another problem (at least it is a problem for my fading mind).  In BiG World Project v18.2 English.pdf, the WeiDU.Log has listings for Vlad's Compilation v2.1 and Never Ending Journey 3 v7.1.  In BiG World Installpack v18.2.7z there is no code for VCv21 or NEJ3v71.  The code for VCv10 is there and there is no code for NEJ3v702. Please check this.

Thanks for all your efforts with BWP

Hi EvilMax:

Well my joy has faded.  I met Nalia in the Slums.  Agreed to help her.  We went to the City Gates and tried to go to de'Arnise Hold.  Another CTD like it was with the duergars!

What is the best way to check for a faulty Animation ID?

Yes, The Imp really knows how these mods work and is very helpful in fixing them.

Tom

I found the problem.  You need to go to Heng Horse Ranch before going to de'Arnise Hold.  Sorry for the alarm.
