#577574 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by dabus on 14 May 2015 - 06:23 PM in Mega Mod Help

I dunno if the BWS should be a hotfix for mods.
If Quit/Alien want to do it, I won't stop them but I usually left that for others maintainers.
Its getting more unclear which package fix what if you need a mod, modders fix, BWP fixpack and the BWS to make mods work. I wasn't good enough to know if I'd make things worse. And some modders are kind of allergic to fixing their stuff if they don't approve or had some intention that did not need a fix.

Spellpack is SpekpackB6.
Disable End is not in there because there's no component in the tp2 that would enable that tweak.
Fixpack and timely updates: Look at the history, then you know about release dates.

Regarding NSCPortraits:

Open the Setup-NSCPortraits.tp2 with an editor, search for 1300 and you can edit this block
BEGIN ~Portraits for Tower of Deception~
REQUIRE_PREDICATE FILE_EXISTS_IN_GAME ~VA#TIAN.cre~ ~You haven't installed ToD, skip this component~
DESIGNATED 1300

If adding the bold .cre does not help, removing the line with thar require statement should help.

AC_Quest - Uh, you didn't select ascalons questpack, AC_QUEST=0 is located underneath [DeSave], so it's not selected.
You also don't have any entries with ascalon or AC_QUEST in your install-log. Same goes for JA#BGT_AdvPack.
So there's nothing to debug. At least it seems like Jarls BGT Tweak Pack used English.
Note that WeiDU uses the first language if the second and third are somehow screwed/not available as a valid selection. So if you say language 2 and for WeiDU there is only 0, it will force you to select 0. So it's not necessarily a fault of the BWS but could be something else.

NSCPortraits has a messed up tp2, which looks for VA#TIAN (without the .cre at the end). That error was reported but it seems like the update that was mentioned by the author has not made it into the downloadable version.

Widescreen - Well, something might have went wrong with stdin/stdout reading or the cmd went nump or something else... since it's the last mod, try to install it manually. Should have stopped and complained though...

What's frozen on "completely" installed dependencies/conflicts-screen?
You did not install anything/did not view the backup/download options and all that...

Do you try to exit the selection screen and click on a solve dependencies-button? If you do, you likely have selected one of the bad/faulty configurations.
Kagain from BG1NPCSoa, Dynaheir from BG1NPC with drizztsaga and DrizztIsNotStupid are those that likely have issues, Kagain being a reason for crashes for sure.
If you want to solve them automatically, you can solve conflicts and remove mods that don't work as they have open dependencies. Or you solve the issues above and then try to solve by addition.
Remember to use the context-menu on those entries that you want to solve yourself, go back and export your again to save yourself some work/time.

@Lol: BWS still needs the smoothpack, so it fetches the installpack that "ships with it", Other than that and being some kind of basis for the install-order, the installpack has indeed no further part in the install - if you did not select to go with the batch-install.

#583648 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by dabus on 11 December 2015 - 07:39 AM in Mega Mod Help

BWS says right at the end:

Preparing BiG World Debug.7z for easier bug-reports...

Faq says:

To help debugging some errors, a file called BiG World Debug.7z will be created that includes a slightly stripped version of the installation-messages. It well help guys to give you better support.

You can find it in the BG2-folder...

You can also use the BiG World Upload Debug.txt or BiG World Install Debug.txt in the logs-subfolder, with the Upload-thing being a stripped down version that does not show ogg/mp3/tis-decoding output. But as said, 7z is smaller and better for faster up-/downloads.

#579592 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by dabus on 20 July 2015 - 07:54 AM in Mega Mod Help

The value is in BiG World Setup\Config\Usr.ini, Section [Options], key ACP.

If the BWS tried to rewrite it into your registry, you should not find that key in your ini but have an entry in your BiG World Setup\Logs - directory.
Either directly in it or more likely in folder named Bak-%sometimestamp%. The files name would be BiG World Install Debug.txt and you should look at the end of it.
You changed your codepage to install some mods. If you do not intend to change your installation, you can use your old codepage No. %somecodepage%.

Do you want to set your codepage now?
Write that value to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Nls\CodePage, change the key ACP from 1252 to the value from above.

New BWS vbs f**ks up since you elevate the script, so it's running in the wscript path, which is c:\windows\system32. Add BiG World Setup\Config to that path you find nothing... Got this by displaying Wscript.Echo objStartFolder.

And nope, BWS already uses --no-check-certificate... Scales of Balance works...

Djinn Master works but Djinn 1.0 gets this:

"D:\Temp\Test_BWS\BigWorldSetup-bigworldsetup-5a3a2b5a4cc2\BiG World Setup\Tools\wget.exe" --no-passive-ftp --connect-timeout=20 --tries=1 --no-check-certificate --server-response --spider "https://github.com/A...mpanion-v1.0.7z"

Spider mode enabled. Check if remote file exists.

#576598 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by dabus on 07 April 2015 - 10:41 AM in Mega Mod Help

Huh? With old I mean really old when ini-files had OS-limits and used 16-bit. Maybe those limits are still in there somewhere in the newer systems.
Anyway, 32 KB was the limit in this case, it does not matter if you use Windows 2000 or a 10 preview since the limit is in the program itself.

#575194 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

BWS creates those to execute things like move, copy, batches.
So it is bad that you had that error.

Can you look if the file exists?
Can you check if you can create files in the BG2-folder?

#575729 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by dabus on 02 March 2015 - 09:46 AM in Mega Mod Help

Well, the BWS detected errors and asks if you want to try to extract those mods without error on your own.
Installing mods which content is not ok may not be a very good idea, so the BWS wants to remove those from the installation.

You decline, the BWS wants to switch into the BG2-path and fails miserably. Maybe you use some odd codepage?
The backslash is totally busted. cd /D "C:õBWGõBaldur's Gate 2" should be cd /D "C:\BWG\Baldur's Gate 2"

You could add that as a standard component and the install will wait for your input during the install (just like level1).

You can make mods completely optional - only install if you enter the selection screen and click/enable them.

#574561 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by dabus on 03 January 2015 - 09:06 AM in Mega Mod Help

Alien asked the same some time ago. I'd just say that that's stupid packed.
It just breaks the rules set up by weidu how things should be.

I've been playing a bit with the thought of caching the output of the last extraction and look for tp2-files.
That could help to find the correct placement.
I tried to come up with a way to guess the correct folder, extracted all mods as they are per default, but it's not working 100% as I'd like it to.
Some mods have backup-folders that don't exist, so that does not work all the time.
I've tried to look for AUTO_TRA and line that contain ~somekindof.tra~ and mixed it up with the backup search, so I could guess that right.
Guessing by WeiDU-commands did work partly but there are variables and commands that work and subfolders or some stuff coming from other folders, so that's bad to use.
After spending a few hours of playing with the tp2s and WeiDU, I was a bit fed up and left it as it was.

You could also look if the tp2 is missing, check if download was hosted by gitup, replace the filename and then just repeat the search, but I don't like the idea.

Edit:
So from a logical standpoint, the best thing to do would be:
cache the output of 7zip
look for the tp2-file
If it's there
- parse it. I ended up with the path from ~some.tra~, if that's not there auto_tra and if that's not there backup-folders.
- look if that path is there
- report the mod a faulty if it's missing
If tp is not found
- go through the cached output
- if a tp2-file is there, parse it
- look if the path matches the location and move the folder from the sub-folder it is in. If it does not match, think about renaming.

The best way would be to have modders create a bla-master - folder on github and put the mods bla-folder into that - if that's how github would work.

Edit2:
If the behaviour of github would be append the branch to the real/original name and to downloads name / url, you could get the download-url, check if it's from github, extract the branch, look if the folder named %modname%-%branch% exists and then rename the folder. Then check if the tp2 exists now, else revert the name back. That could be done without much rewriting. Can you verify that?

It deletes the files from the BWP Textpack.
So the Textpack will not patch WAs version at all.

Edit: There's no Textpack in the BG:EE install, so it does not patch / edit any of those modding files...

#576595 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by dabus on 07 April 2015 - 09:57 AM in Mega Mod Help

@dragonian: BWS has an ini-size limit that was breached by the increasing size of the BWS mods-connections.
Having smiling imps mods and all those protrait mods just made it visible.

Seems like that limit was not increased in AutoIt3 after support for older Windows versions was dropped, so I guess I'll have a look at some user defined solutions.

#575886 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by dabus on 08 March 2015 - 01:57 PM in Mega Mod Help

Solution:

I think I know what's wrong.

There's an action that's only triggered if the gavinreinstall.mrk is missing, which load tras.
If you have that, those actions are left out.

If I move the loading of tras from here
/* TRAs declared in LANGUAGE must be reloaded - by hand, because of the copying (for non-EE version */

  LOAD_TRA ~gavin/tra/autotra/%LANGUAGE%/Setup.tra~
  LOAD_TRA ~gavin/tra/autotra/%LANGUAGE%/gavin.tra~

COPY ~GAVIN/B!component.xx~ ~GAVIN/backup/gavinreinstall.mrk~

END //gavinreinstall.mrk

To this place:
END //gavinreinstall.mrk

LOAD_TRA ~gavin/tra/autotra/%LANGUAGE%/Setup.tra~
LOAD_TRA ~gavin/tra/autotra/%LANGUAGE%/gavin.tra~

END //ALWAYS

My install would work now.
As I do not understand that coding stuff clearly, this might break something.
If things should be left as they are, BWS would have to stop and guys have to install the mod manually. Could be done by a little workaround.

#575858 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

You likely do have bgeegraphics13.part1.rar and bgeegraphics13.part2.rar but not bgeegraphics13.part3.rar in your download-folder.
Get http://www.shsforums...phics-overhaul/ and put it in that folder. Ignore the error when extracting bgeegraphics13.part2.rar.
And next time, maybe load the master-file and not the download since that error should have been fixed in the master-branch download.

#574558 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by dabus on 03 January 2015 - 07:37 AM in Mega Mod Help

Scroll up...

Edit: It's just a modder that played too much with Matrjoschka–puppets, so he put his setup in an archive.
So BWS looks for the tp2 in the BG2-folder and looks if the modder put his mod in a subfolder and trips because of the replaced 7-zip file.
You can also just replace the new files in BiG World Setup\Tools-folder with the old one used in the download from October if you don't want to edit the script-file.
