I know there hasn't been anything new posted here in awhile, but I was curious if a version of this with a slightly smaller font was ever completed. I really like being able to use this on my current play through, but the text is a bit TOO big, particularly on the stats or when I am trying to buy and sell. Any word on a FontMod that is smaller?

Same here. The mod is great, I play at 1024x768 and the dialog text is tiny. This mod is great for that but it's too big in stores, and in the map. If there could be a mod to just alter the dialog text or if it was just a bit smaller so the names of items in stores didn't get chopped off, that would be great.

Ive noticed a little problem with these fonts with tutu gui 1.8 In the mage spell page. Memorized is spelt memoriz. also when buying good i cannot see the right hand side of the text meaning i cannot see the prices of the goods. Apart from that this mod is a life saver. Playing this game at 1920x1080 in widescreen is a eye sight hurter along with headache. I just hope these little niggles can get looked at.

I have returned after a long time away from this site, and IE games. I'm so happy that so many of you like my fonts. I also would like to acknowledge the need for a slightly smaller font. I will work on this soon, and I'll also release my process for making fonts (once I refresh my own memory...) It is not a simple process but maybe the tools the modding community use have improved since I've been away. In regards to words being cut of, there's little that I can do as the problem lies with the size of the text fields in the UI. The only solution would be to make a smaller font, which I will work on.

Also, someone above mentioned using this with BG1. I only tested this with BGII and up, so it is very likely that it will not work in BG1. Might I recommend trying Baldur's Gate Trilogy? then you can play BG1 with the better BG2 engine.

I'm so glad that you came back! Your mod is essential for those who use widescreen mod, but it is true that for some people with less high resolution screen, this font can be too big some times. I think in the middle of the original size and your size will do fine for most of those people, including me. Thank you and please keep the good work!

Just started another playthrough and I love how the Tortured Souls fonts look - they're just too small after using the fonts offered in this thread. Some middle ground in terms of size between the TS fonts and those here would be amazing.

How would one go about modifying the size? Is it as simple as throwing the normal.bam into a program and putting it at 140%? Because that's about as far as my knowledge will likely get me.

Sadly, It is not an easy task. The font BAM files are arranged with each character as a single-frame animation sequence, and the tools I used to make them (BAMWorkshop) are woefully inadequate, so each frame has to be created by hand. I've automated the process somewhat, but it still requires a lot of time since you also have to adjust the vertical and horizontal alignment for each char.

I've been away from the IE scene for awhile, and I know I've been neglecting this mod. I'm pretty rusty with creating these, but I will dust off my skills and take another crack at this soon. I'm also going to see if there has been any tools released that might simplify the process. Ideally I'd like to create four or five different size sets.

Ok. I've managed to track down all of my materials, scripts and Photoshop template from version 2. My memory is refreshed for the most part on how I pulled this off last time.

For version 3, I am planning the following

- Redo the whole damn thing from scratch using either the Liberation font family or the Droid font family. Haven't decided yet. I'll probably throw together a prototype of each and see which one looks best.

- Have three or four size sets ranging from "normal" (similar to the font used in TS) to "large print" like the current 2.1 version.

- See if I can improve the aliasing situation a bit. Version 2 was better than 1, but still not quite where I want it. It think it will improve by using a different font family other than DejaVu. I think the Droid family in particular is promising.

I am going to begin working on this NOW and hopefully have it for you by New Year's at the latest. Maybe sooner.

Thanks for all of your patience with me and my flakiness!

Excellent news, I'm glad to hear you're picking up your mod, maybe Ghostdog could help refresh you, I don't know if it's relevant but I used his Planescape Torment mod recently and the increased font size option works brilliantly. :)

you also have to adjust the vertical and horizontal alignment for each char.

I found that to be the case with BAMWorkshop, i had to manually edit the uncompressed bam to indicate the x and y position - otherwise for example, inventory icons look out of place in the inventory slots. I created a data structure template for Hex Workshop for this.

To install ie_bam.hsl copy it to the HexWorkshop\Structures folder (C:\Program Files\Breakpoint\HexWorkshop\Structures is probably default install location)

Open up (uncompressed) .bam file, go data structure viewer panel, click + to add data structure to use. Select ie_bam.hsl, click on BAM as the structure to view. In the structure viewer it will show the treeview of the bam file, as far as frames and cycles (sequences). As long as the cursor in the main screen hasnt moved from 0x0 then the structure is correct. It is then easy to drill down into each frame and set x, y if required.

Might be of use to someone.

I'd also love to install the v3.0 version - coming soon I hope, as it was supposed to be ready by the end of 2010...
One more question - is it compatible with Mega modifications installed using BiG World? I tried to reinstall the widescreen mod after installing Mega Mod - because the letters were too small, and now I have some annoying errors, can't reinstall some mods that have been installed after Widescreen and probably because of this my game keeps freezing all the time... So I'd love to use the highest resolution possible with Widescreen Mod and still be able to read the text thanks to this mod - but I don't want the letters to cover half of the screen either:) So please please hurry with version 3.0!!

First, just wanted to say I'm looking forward to the next installment of this mod. My eyes thank you profoundly since I'm using the Widescreen mod at 1920X1080 on a 23" screen.

Secondly, for those of you wish it were a bit smaller... there's a temporary solution until the new version. (note, this works for IWD1, unsure for others):
1) As far as sizes go: Normal.bam is the largest, toolfont.bam the second largest, and floattxt.bam is the smallest in this mod (I like it's font style best too).
2) Rename floattxt.bam -or- toolfont.bam to Normal.bam, place in override. Boom. Smaller texts (but still larger than usual.)

I personally use toolfont for my normal, floattxt for my tool font, and do not place a floattxt in the override(Since there the ones I see least often so it bothers me the least.

Just thought I'd share, since I didn't see mention of it in the thread.

Anybody know where I can find an older version of this mod, from before he shifted floattxt up a bit? A few pixels in IWD get cut off from the top of each text line and transferred to the bottom instead and was curious if the older version would fix that...

Fantastic stuff!!! I LOVE you both. :)

Have used 1280x720 earlier because otherwise the text was too small for my failing eyes. And with the defaults in the package it became too big, so text in shops and on the character screens got smashed up too much. Used the toolfont.bam as normal.bam and now it looks very nice.

Thanks a million. Now I can play the game at 1600x900 instead :)
