Installation finished, game won't start

I just finished installing the beast. the process went fine, followed the instructions as well as I could, and the autoinstaller said complete. The checker said everything was in place, so I figured I was set to go. But, when I opened the baldur.exe, and press play, and error appeared.
-------
An assertion failed in ChDimm.cpp at line number 1246
Programmer says: ChDimm.cpp CDimm::Demand(): CRes pointer invalid (Check Baldur.log for missing resource)
-------
no need to say, but the game worked before installing, and the baldur.log is empty.
does anyone know if it can be fixed?
Thanks in advance

there was a post on plaguezone from horred listing what was safe to delete after a BP-BGT-NEJ install; i'll see if i can dig it up and repost it here.

now I've deleted everything, but there must remain some residue, cause when I place the org. cd's for a re-install, instead of install, it says play.
I am, however, not the sharpest knife when it comes to regedit, but I tried deleting what I could find tracing back to BG2. the only thing left is the main folder, were the only contens is my savegames and som characters. Any ideas on where to look?

just run the setup.exe directly (from the run command under start, or from the cd), and it will work fine.

if you wish to keep these folders, then rename the BGII directory to something other than BGII - SoA.
as general advice, follow the install guides very carefully (i'm sure you did, but it's always good advice) - Shadowtech's install guide (pinned in this forum) is quite a good one, and indicates some of the safe things to delete after a full install. plus, after getting a BP-BGT-NEJ install done, test it by starting a new game before installing any mods. good luck, and have patience - it will work eventually!

After he mentions the files needed in groups he reffers to a link which throws me into the option of creating a new thread. I doubt that it is the intended one, so my question is, does anyone know the real link?- Shadowtech's install guide (pinned in this forum) is quite a good one, and indicates some of the safe things to delete after a full install.

I got the same exact error as the saint.
Has a solution to it been figured out?

that thread has 2 years and is talking about non-weidu versions...

sorry for reviving it, but the problem he described is exactly the same as mine.
I have tried redoing it once already, I am currently checking seanas' "WHAT YOUR GAME FOLDER SHOULD LOOK LIKE" thread, and i've got another installation setup, i'm gonna try it again.
Thankfully, after the first one didn't work, i started making a copy of my installation folder.
I think I might've gotten the wrong versions or something, For alot of the files I had to hunt them down accross all the file mirrors.
Again, if anyone's encountered something like this, please tell me.

There are many newer versions of the mods and you should use them because they are much less bugged and easier in installation.
I suggest using this thread

Earlier instructions said put BD first and I've never had an installation work if it isn't first. Go figure.
Thanks

Yeah, seanas's post does have it first, but current guides put it second - actually Vlad confirmed that it had to go second if you want NEJ to work.Earlier instructions said put BD first and I've never had an installation work if it isn't first. Go figure.
For the record, I use Classic Baldurdash so I don't use BD-WeiDU.
