ok, finally got the solution from the download page:
"You will NOT be able to obtain the 'good' ending if you have looted the demon maze layer in WK. All other 3 outcomes are still possible."

But i found it's impossible!! In that case i can't get loads of decent items from
WK............sad sad things........
I want to get the good ending, fight Demogorgon, get loots from WK...........
Any help would be appreciated.

You can loot the first 2 levels of WK. In fact if you got the Deva and the Demon it means you are ok -- ie you can solve the Deva Quest. In order to get the good ending you truly need to:

1. Get to Elysium and make the right choice about the Deva Spark

2. Convince Irenicus to change verbally -- I assume you keep talking to him?

3. Let him chose for himself on whether take the soul or not. It truly does not matter if you promise one to him or not.

If you succeed he will change alignment eventually.

Erhm... it means you have not convinced him... Have you been to Elysium? Did he ever tell you something like 'I am so glad you forgot about that Redemption nonsence'? If he did -- you failed. The last talk of the redemption series is the one when Irenicus is sharing your dream about his attack on Sul and Ellesime... if you did not get that one he will never chose the good path.

Hey Dorotea, just a quick question... I'm playing through The Longer Road at the moment, and really enjoying it, but all this talk of the 'final talk' is getting me worried. I've been going through it fairly quickly, and I'm not sure if I'm getting all of the dialogues going. Are there a certain number you should get *before* the fall of Saradush, or does it not matter?

thanks for such a great mod :)

It does not matter how many dialogs you get before the fall of Saradush. The frequency of the talks has been established so you have some talks until at least you are done with last Enclave. There will be no talks , I think , inside Watchers Keep -- but there you have the major new quest anyway. The last talk you should have before Irenicus asks you to let him steal either Sendai's or Abzi's or Balthazar's soul is the one when he has a repetition of your dream about his attack on Suldanessellar. After that there is just one more dialog and thats it. I believe that makes 8 dialogs ( unless you fail -- than he tells you he is looking forward to cooperate with you once you Ascend as a rival deity). There are also plenty of other interjections -- send him to talk with different npcs to see if he has a special replica. And read the README if you want to get the 'good' ending -- I think it has enough hints!

Freedom cannot be equated with goodness, virtue, or perfection. Freedom has its own unique self-contained nature; freedom is freedom ? not universal goodness. Hey! Thanks for the speedy reply.

Okay... I'm not quite sure where I am at the moment. We just had the talk that ended with 'well, if I had a greater command of the english language, I'm sure I could say something here that would really force self-evaluation and critical thought within Irenicus... but, alas...', and that naturally put me into a state of incredible worry and fear. Does this I screwed up somewhere? :P Or am I just being paranoid?

By the way, I got that dialogue right after killing Abazigal. I convinced Jon to wait this time. Again, is this a bad thing?

Hehe, and if I wasn't asking for enough... what determines when new dialogues come? Is it a timer thing, or an XP thing, or something else?

Thanks :)

Telling Joneleth to wait is fine. The first time around when he asks, I just save myself the trouble and maneuver the conversation so that I promise to let him decide for himself about Balthazar's soul. Balthazar will invariably be the last one, and thus gives you enough time to finish the Deva Spark quest and convince Joneleth verbally.

You can convince him to choose for himself with Balthazar? The only way it played for me was for me to guarantee that he got Balthazar's soul, and that doesn't sound like a barrel full of monkeys.

Let him decide for himself. If you convinced him before -- he will decide not to take the soul on his own -- as I don't belive that he can be forced to 'correct his evil ways' by allowing or forbidding him actions. The line about 'I cannot be controlled' is sorta telling....

Oh sweet. Just one more question - after the final talk with Jon about the fires of home and all of that, how do you know if you've succeeded? Does his redemption counter have to hit a certain point? Do you have to get a specific line of dialogue?

Thanks!

EDIT: Nevermind, I got it! Dorotea, may I suggest decreasing the time between banters slightly? I had to Shadowkeeper the last three (i.e., set the banter timer to 1 so they would fire immediately); without that, Irenicus wouldn't have gotten to the point of refusing a Bhaalspawn soul. Other than that, a truly excellent mod, and one that I wll be including in all future installs of BGII. :)

I am glad it is resolved. As for the interval betweenconversations... erhm? How do you guys manage to run through the ToB so fast?? I myself always go through all Jon dialogs before even entering Amkethran. Hmm.

I will look into this -- in fact I was thinking about making a complex move and
modifying the scripts so that dialog intervals are adjusted if the player have reached Amkethran. Sheesh -- I have not touched that code for months... or any other code for that matter.

Still -- thanks for the input!

"You will NOT be able to obtain the 'good' ending if you have looted the demon maze

Wait, what? But you *have* to loot the demon maze, at least to some extent... you need the sceptor in Yakman's tent and the two gems you get off the demons' body. Unless, of course, you mean you're only allowed to get those essential items things and nothing else...

Gah, I'm confused.

ok,the sequence is like tat:
1st time i get him i juz promise him a mortal soul,
i do the deva quest after killing yaga-shura,
after combining the deva & the abaia Jon said he hv to reconsider his plan of taking a bhaalspawn soul,is tat alrite?
then went to Amkethran before the Ellesime dream,
kill the lich, then go to kill sendai & abazigal, delay his request of taking
bhaalspawn soul,
when it comes to balthazar,he takes it eventually!!!
The Ellesime dream NEVER happen throughout the game,
how to trigger it by cheat?

If you have a game from Amkethran zip it and email it to me -- I need to look at your GLOBALs to see what went wrong. I cannot tell you for sure just by reading your post, there are quite a few different things that could have gone wrong.

Basically I need a list of your GLOBALS and the only way to get it is from your Baldur.gam file, which will be in your save.

email it to ladydorotea@hotmail.com
