using pre install checker 041b.exe i managed to get everything green except for

bg2 version, i installed 26499 patch, no big drama to redo that though

\bgt3

it appears not only do i need bg1 installed, need to download a 660mb patch for it which is a suprise but hopefully results in a more bg2 like bg1 experience. which would be great seeing as i have never played bg1 before. bought the original saga 3 disk edition and couldnt get it to install on my previous machine, tried copying cds onto hd then installing but they still crashed. only had 6 gig hdd though so wasnt going to be practical to run bpbgt anyway (at a guess something around 9gig without storing the installers on hdd)

\NeJ
Setup-NeJ.exe
Setup-NeJ.tp2

not sure on these ones
i have

NeJ1v13s.rar
NeJ1v14p.zip

but presumably

NeverEndingJourney-weiduv13i.rar

would be better

and ive played iwd and heart of winter before stand alone

and about halfway through in bg2 with nej and various other stuff installed before i got fed up and reinstalled bg2 without nej

so preferably if its not possible to get out of chapter 1 without going to nej id prefer to not install it

plus i dont want to have to much experience when i get into chapter 2

when i use the BP-BGT-NEJ Step by Step Install Instructions With Automater post as i guide what i end up with is

1 Shadows Over Soubar 1.0.0 and its patch version 1.0.1
2 The Darkest Day 1.03 and its patch version 1.0.3a
3 Tortured Souls 5.0.1 (same as v50), 5.0.3, 5.04, and 5.05.
4 Big Picture version 161G-Full
5 BG Trilogy Mark 3, patch 1.13 fixes (MK1-MK3_1.13-fixes), its lost files, and a patch for a setting snares bug
6 BP-BGT version 0.300 full
7 Never Ending Jouney WeiDU version1.13h
8 BP-NEJ version 1.2

1 tick
2 tick
3 got 5.06 as well
4 tick
5 got BP-BGTv311.exe ~14mb, when presumably the full mark3 thing is bgt_mk3_112.exe 658mb, got the other smaller ones though
6 this is probably where my BP-BGTv311.exe fits in but its got no full so maybe not
7 clarifies my concern in first post, need to get that then
8 tick

using the WHAT YOUR GAME FOLDER SHOULD LOOK LIKE, for installing BP-BGT-NEJ thread

missing the bgt3 folder again

...SoA\KEYFile for patched....
didnt get to this point before, hopefully it wont be a problem

need the weidu nej file again

so seem to be on the right track there

Shadowtech's BP-BGT--NEJ install guide

confirms that i need the large bgt file

various other info but i think once ive got the 2 files i think i need i will try the autoinstaller first then worry about that stuff

also you may be interisted to know that although im in the process of collecting various pieces for morrowind which ive never played before im still anticipating the big picture and add ons a lot more

going to try bonehill, dark side of the sword coast and various other stuff once i get the main thing working :)

You can't play BGT without downloading the mod. Simple as that. Yes, it is 660MB, it contains all the BG1 areas converted to work with the BG2 engine.

thanks, i maybe got mixed up with the tutu thing

had the impression that the reason to install bg1 as well was it converted on the fly

but this is probably a better solution as i got the impression from just playing a bit of bg1 that things would be too small if converted directly across due to optimisation for differant native resolutions

due to the delights of dialup i will be a little while but all files apart from the main one should be down now, ie nej weidu version

also got bonehill and dsotsc, was thinking about getting ctb as well but will pass on that since it seems to introduce a bit of instability into most peoples installs from what i have read on here

an assetion failed in chdimm.cpp at line number 1246
programmer says chdimm.cpp cdimm::demand(): cres pointer invalid (check baldur.log for missing resource)

well this is what i got eventually, something 2 hours to install but the BGT bit doesnt promt for input much so not too much of a need to pay attention

! ...\NeverEndingJourney-weiduv13i.rar: Unexpected end of archive

likely error is i appear to have a corrupted never ending journey copy so didnt install that, did install the other nej bit which may have caused it to go nuts

or its not possible to do bp-bgt without nej

or maybe just not possible to do it with the auto installer

will get that file again then have another go

what a wonder, turns out when i made everything look like the

"what your game folder should look like" thread and the install checker wanted it to that the game installed cleanly

hopefully i dont run into any drama with NeJ once i get to irenicus' dungeon as i installed all of that

havnt installed the s and h patch yet and if anything else should be installed before playing would be great if someone could point me in the right direction

ive used various weidu mods before but will probably go a bit liter on those this time around

all up around 2 hours to install everything starting from bg1 already being in c:\baldur and very happy :)

any trick to getting dsotsc and bonehill to work with bp-bgt-nej or should it be a fairly typical weidu install?

also i plan on removing a few of the larger uneeded files from the SoA directory then making a zip of my entire install, so i can play with some things over the top without worrying so much about reinstalling if it goes wrong. hard drive space isnt an issue.

only suggestion i have to ammend to the guides is the file name of the mark3 bgt 660meg thing, as a new user lacking comprehension skills that was the only real place i could have gone wrong

(apart from trying to leave out NeJ and thats entirely a user error)

Very good idea. My little storage .RAR with no compression came to 7.5 GB, but it works. Good luck with yours. Here is where you can find a list of safe files to delete. My backup is of the base install only (i.e. the auto installer finishes, I delete some files, and backup straight away without installing any patches or other mods)

The S and H patch has some important fixes and is certainly recommended. I don't remember about what it says in the install guide, but have you installed the NeJFix? The file is NeJ1v14p.zip. I usually install this before the S and H patch, followed by the S and H patch, then mods.

Should work fine with typical install. Check you have bonehill 1.0 and the bonehill 1.1 patch, and DSotSC 1.2. Should be no problem with these.

thanks

played through the first area of baldurs gate one, and very playable

only issues ive noticed are

1) the location markers on the area map display lines of dialog, as opposed to the location descriptions
2) all fires in the game seem to be corrupted
3) when i got to the second area i walked off the map to the south then saw a bg2 map, clicked on one of the athkatla areas, waukeens prominade i think, and the game crashed

assuming none of these are critical errors or unlikely to be fixed by a reinstall ill be quite happy to play through assuming the area transitions doesnt become a jump to area with the clua console deal :)

put it this way, i was playing to check it was working before i patched it and wound up playing through candlekeep and forgetting about the patching until i read ascention64's post :)

Uh, oh. That doesn't look good at all. You shouldn't be able to access Athkatla at all in BGI. Something has gone funny here. May really need a re-install. I have posted a clearer install guide for your info. I hope this is OK with the moderators since there is already an abundance of install guides available.

ASCENSION64's BP-BGT-NeJ INSTALL GUIDE

This is a do-or-die install guide.  Follow the steps exactly as is.  Note that this has not been tested in other partitions.  If you do not have any or all of the files listed in the guide,  download them from http://iegmc.mirror.intermedia.com.sg/ or http://mirror.blackwyrmlair.net/iegmc

3. Delete 'WeiDU.log' in BGII directory
4. Run 'Setup-BP-BGT-NEJ_PATCH313.exe' - select [Y] on prompts

CLEANUP

1. If desired, delete the following in the BGII directory:

Soubar101patch.exe
Soubar_v100.exe

tdd103full.exe
tdd103-to-103A-patch.exe

TSv50.exe
TSv503.exe
TSv504 (folder)
TSv505 (folder)

BPv161G-FULL.exe

bgt3 (folder)
MK1-MK3_1.13-fixes (folder)
patch_snares (folder)

2. If desired, move BGI back to original install directory, rename back to original directory names, and uninstall normally

After this you should run the game once to see if it starts properly then backup the whole install.

Then you can install the NeJ patch, then the S and H patch, although I just read there are issues installing S and H patch before Check the Bodies (if desired) in another forum post. After that comes mods, but do so at your own risk, although it shouldn't be a problem because you can use the backup if something goes wrong. Takes me 10 minutes to restore the backup than 2 hours to re-install everything.

Good luck with it all!
