2 months. Alright.

How many NPC's are you planning?

Oh, and how well-versed are you with the different modding-tools around?

NPC's are something I thought others pitching in on this project would like to create once the storyline skeleton is completed, and they have some guidelines as far as how an NPC they create can take part in and further the plot. It gives other modders a chance to put their creativity into it, and let's face it...seeing your idea to fruition is the one real reward of modding.

Fairly well versed in some of them (Weidu, DLTCEP, IEEP). I've been playing with them for some time, and my experience will increase once I finish the NPC. What I'm weakest at would be area creation since I haven't really looked into that portion of it.

This sounds like a great mod if it actually gets done, and even though you seem set about finishing it, I can't help but wonder how long it actually will take. The real BGIII could be released by the time you finish all parts to your mod :D .

Some of the most enjoyable and well developed NPC romance mods for BG2 alone have taken (and still are taking) years to complete, so I don't even want to think about how long it will take to make all the areas, quests, NPC specific quests, if any, and hopefully NPC romances. Even if you get help making NPC's for your mod, making their characters, banters, quests, interjections, romance talks and flirts, if any, and items will take a huge amount of time by themselves.

But again if you're serious about finishing this then kudos to you, just make sure you really know what you're getting yourself into.

It's okay if they do finish BG III by the time I finish this one. Whatever Atari does with BG III, it's highly doubtful it will be a continuation of the Bhaal saga that attempts to tie up the loose ends left remaining from when the saga actually began, which was in the Time of Troubles, and addresses Bane, Cyric and Kelemvor.

Yes it will take a long while for it to be entirely completed, but it will be released in four segments, which will help.

Tehana, the NPC in SOA/TOB

And then the Bane of Bhaal:

Part I A New Beginning
Part II Untitled
Part III The Gods' War

I advice you to wait for BG3.Its officially in the works, though its not develpoed by Bioware.Your mod idea is a bit unrealistic, it would take a century for a team of 10 people to make it.

Not with the right team. Sillara and Nethrin have completed four NPCs in the span of a year. One of them was a one day, one is non-romanceable, and the other two are romanceable with plots, new areas, etc... It can be done.

I disagree. It can be done. By your logic we would still be waiting on BG1 and BG2.

I think a year or two is a much more realistic timeframe.

Thank you, Major Tom! :thumb:

I figure it'll take for 18 to 24 months for everything, depending on how detailed and indepth everything is and how much help I get.

It took us 18 to 24 months of work with a team of god-knows-how-many people to get the DLTC demo out. (Okay, admittedly the team included people like me, and I'm REALLY lazy, but then we also had Max who's about the best modder out there.)

Well, if it takes longer, it takes longer, and I'm ok with that.

What happened to Max? Did he become disinterested in doing mods?

Eh? Anyone know when official BG3 be released?
Didn't PC Gamer do an interview with a clueless-know-nothing PR head at ATARI in 2004?

I spoke to him a few weeks ago, said he had lots and lots to do in school. I imagine he'll be back. Sometime.

Nothing solid, that's for sure. Atari Rep mentioned it in an interview, and BG III was touted on an advertisement for Atari right after Black Isle and Interplay went under but nothing at ever since, so at this point, it's not in the design phase and probably hasn't even hit a storyboard or writer's pad yet.
