I'm running an install of BGT-weidu with just BG1+2 and expansions (not BP).

The game has run quite smoothly, minus a few minor bugs, but certain areas crash when I attempt to enter them. These include the basilisk area on the east of the map, the final catacombes section beneath candlekeep, durlags tower entry map, and the dock warehouse with the basilisk in the city itself.

I have tried reinstalling the game several times, as my initial install contained this problem in other areas. I borrowed a DVD version of BG1 and installed from there (as my copy of BG is old and knackered :( ) but can't get an alternative copy of TOSC. This removed all CTD problems in all other areas of BG that I was having, other than those mentioned before.

One thing that links all these areas is they contain basilisks (I think the only areas in the game). Is it possible that my copy of TOSC (which is a bit old and crusty) is writing corrupt data that the BGT install is further corrupting, as an accenuation of errors?

At first glance, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong, but it is a BGT-WeiDU bug because I get it too. I'm too tired to keep looking, so I'll check it out again tomorrow.

Are you actually porting the basilisk anims over? They don't exist in BG2.

That might be why...any other animations you are aware of? (apart from the tasloi)

Faster Than Jesus, if you have an editing program, you need to export the following four files and throw them into your override directory:

MBASG1.BAM
MBASG1E.BAM
MBASG2.BAM
MBASG2E.BAM

I've extracted teh files from my BG1 install and saved them to the BG2 override directory. The areas are no longer crashing, but when I get within range of a basilisk, I'm getting an assertion failed error.

Have I cocked up here or are there additional files required.

Thanks for the help

The basilisk and tasloi animations are not included in Baldur's Gate II (and possibly others; those are the most memorable).

You will need to copy MBAS_GR.BMP from your Baldur's Gate installation to prevent the greater basilisk animation from crashing the game.

Add these lines to your ANIMATE.IDS:

0x7100 BASILISK
0x7101 BASILISK_GREATER

and ANISND.IDS:

0x7100 MBAS CGAMEANIMATIONTYPE_BASILISK
0x7101 MBAS2 CGAMEANIMATIONTYPE_BASILISK_GREATER

Move all these MBAS(s).BAM and MBAS2(s).BAM into your override. That's all.

The IDS entries are actually already in there.
