Either way Tombstone, whats correct is the others tone is that the onus is on you to learn the material and use the tools.

how come you always look so damn cool in every photo I see you in?!?
Speaking of modding, I listened to IER 3 yesterday, so you can have another quote for your signature: how come you sound so damn cool, as well as look it? It's unfair. Seriously.
Still a cyberjock, still hacking the matrix, still unsure of what that means.

Avenger said "If you resave the file" I am going to go right ahead and assume you didn't so, no, his fix didn't screw up your game. Is your game screwed?Did your "fix" screw up my game?
Actually, IEEP is a teambg tool as well.
TeamBG consisted a dozen of programmers, each of them made one or more tools and mods.
I have absolutely nothing to do with the Jaheira Fix nor with IEEP.
I didn't try the jaheira 'fix', since you are not a 'programmer' as you said, you cannot check if it modifies the .tlk or not. Knowing IESDP isn't really programming. Writing AI scripts is more like programming.

I thought Tombstone was referring to this fix.DLTCEP found a binary 0 in the string but the length of the string doesn't match this 0.
It might mean a really really corrupted tlk.
If you resave the file you might get 2 results:
1. dltcep silently fixed the file, and it works as new
2. dltcep further screwed the file, and now you will see noticeable corruption.

Only according to DLTCEP. It plays fine, as far as I can tell.Is your game screwed?
I didn't realize that. I thought the item descriptions were saved in the individual *.itm file. In that case, yes I guess I have. When you put it that way, it makes sense. Thank you.Did you add a name or description to your item when you were making it? If so it was probably doing that that altered the dialog.tlk (all game text is stored in this file).
Well, Avenger gave me the impression that anyone without a PhD in IESDP should't play with it, soooo... I just figured IEEP was the more idiot-friendly app, since it has a pretty GUI. But never judge a book by it's cover, as they say.If you want to stick with IEEP then, fine, do so. However, since most modders don't use it you are going to be hard pressed to find help on using it. Most modders either don't know, have forgotten, or would rather forget how to use IEEP effectively.
I've looked at it. It is a helpful reference. I'm just being contrary.Oh, and even using IEEP the IESDP is going to be something you want to look at, particularly the part on BG2 Effects.

Yes, I get that. But if you'll go back a few posts, you can see how I was being given the impression that DLTCEP reports errors that for some reason aren't actual errors. Well, some are and some aren't. Well, some are sort-of errors, but not critical. Well, some might be critical, who is to say? Like the "moraleai.ids" error. It's an invalid error. No it's not. Yes, it is. Arrrrgh!Either way Tombstone, whats correct is the others tone is that the onus is on you to learn the material and use the tools.
After all that, one can imagine how I might be getting a little frustrated with DLTCEP...
No, I can see just by looking at it that DLTCEP is the superior app. DLTCEP actually discovered errors in the items I created with IEEP that I didn't even realize were there. This makes it a powerful and easy to use tool . IEEP is actually considerably harder to do anything with, if you know what you're trying to do in the first place.
My only problem comes from the rather enigmatic error messages it's putting out. What do they mean? Should I worry about them? Is there a way to fix the problem? Should I just ignore it? Etc., etc., etc.

To make the moraleai.ids "error" disappear, drop any file called moraleai.ids into your override folder, or Edit > IDS and save a new IDS file with that name. The other errors are not ones you need to worry about

You mean including this one?The other errors are not ones you need to worry about
"Incorrect reference #62182 (.tlk file is corrupted)"
If you say 'yes', I'll consider the matter closed.
