Well gang, it had to happen someday. I've decided to retire from modding this game family. I've been doing this hobby for almost 6 years! The game itself doesn't interest me anymore, it's gotten too stale. I had hoped that my TC would keep my interest, and it did hold me to modding at least a year longer than without it. However, it's just not fun to play anymore. It's too dated, and I need something fresh.
I apologize to any and all I've offered my help to in the past, and haven't yet come through with results. I've been dealing with modding apathy for quite some time now and it shows. The real reason I've been sticking around is due to all the good friends I have in this community. Friends enough that while I won't be modding anymore, I do plan to at least hang around the forum and drop some occassional advice and sass where the mood strikes me. :P However, I'm stepping down as an Admin, and leaving things in very capable hands here.
As for my mod projects, well most of them out are resurrections. I'm certain that those that left them in my care would be content to leave them to the community at large, I'm content to let mine be so. Be good to them if you want to mod 'em, and may your readme's be more detailed than mine! (Gods, I hate writing readmes!) My TC, Greyhawk Revisited, is not really playable yet and now never will be. However, I do plan to gut some of the cooler components out of it and pass them on to some interested modders. (Yes Igi, you'll get that lighting pack!)
In closing, I'd just like to say thanks to all who've supported me in the past, and those who made this hobby of mine so enjoyable for the last half-decade.

*Ties Hlid to the fence - you're not allowed to leave!

It's been fantastic knowing you, thanks for all the help and encouragement! If you drop even a hint of which game you'll be modding next, I'll buy it and follow you :)

Yes Igi, you'll get that lighting pack!

Thanks, though it's no secret my IE modding motivation isn't what it used to be, I will gladly accept any cast-off's you happen to have around (including, but no limited to, those 107 area's you have, not to mention those 3 TC's).

* Buys Hlid several large pints of ale

Hlid

You are a Gentleman and a Scholar. Your loss to modding will be deeply felt. Thankyou for all that you have done.

So farewell to you and may your special fridge aid you in future endeavours.

Oh well; at least it wasn't too much of a surprise (much!). Best of luck Hlid - whenever we crossed electronic paths it was always interesting and informative. Mmm <thinks> would have started for me somewhen around 2001 on the old TeamBG forums....

Cheers Hlid, may your modding on whatever new game you choose be as amazing as the mods you've done for this game

And if you find Max over there in the garden of retired modders, tell him I still owe you two for not finishing DLTC ;)

So long.

Best of luck in your new endeavors, hlidskialf. And if you find anything that can keep your attention as long as Baldur's Gate has, let the rest of us know about it :)

As I expressed when I first heard of this, I think only a magnitude of :( can sufficiently describe my feelings.

You'll be very missed, my friend. Do come around every now and then for some trash talk and a round of ale. ;)

Damn, it's sad to see you go. You were responsible for getting a lot of people interested in modding, and helping them whenever they got stuck. I'm one of them. I'll have to work hard to get my mod done so I can guilt-trip you into playing it. ;) You're still going to be hanging out, like, 4 years from now, right? ;)

Thanks for all you've done for IE modding, and I wish you the best of luck with whatever your new hobby is. Posted Image
