Firewine Bridge ruins

I`m not sure if mod any of the mods adds this quest but i think so.
After you help the researcher discover some ancient village he gives you scroll to enter some ruins in Firewine Bridge area. I found those ruin, looked for first two floors and then there is stairs which are magically locked and i dont know how to go there. I`ve just went to Baldurs Gate for first time(dont remember which chapter it is). Maybe this passage opens later?
So my question is: Is there a way to go through this stairs right now or do i have to wait for some equipment/character and if so which equipment and character.

I do believe you need something but I don't have access to my copy of that mod until this weekend. So if someone else can answer beforehand, please do.

I don't remember Firewine Bridge (nor Ulcaster Ruins, for that matter) having two floors...does a mod add another floor?

There are two ruins at firewine bridge(with mod). First are accessable from the beginning and nothing is needed and the entrances are in the halfling village and in firewine bridge. And second are accessable only if u have special scroll which you get after finish one of the quests(with the researcher finding an old village, when you help him and hiss men come there, his men go berserk and attack you-some kind of magic and for helping him and saving his life he gives you scroll to open those second ruins). I`ve checked on my bras game those ruins are not accessable without scroll. I`m talking about those second ruins.

I'm sorry then I can't help. I'm not using DSotSC or NTotSC and I don't even know which mod adds the second entrance.

the walkthrough says to have bottle of oil which can be found somewhere in those ruins... I probeably sold it and don`t have slightest idea where i sold it... Does anyone know the CLUA code of this botle?

Hmm, I thought it was one of the bottles of wine. If it is an NT item, you can look at the NTotSC\ITM folder for all the new items in the mod. One of them is the key. If the door uses a standard "Oil of Speed", then you need that item. It is probably filename NTPOT**** with the stars being the number. Try all of those first.

Its not oil of speed or any of the NTOTSC potions. It might be oil of fiery burning... i`ll check it.

It isnt... it isnt also any of the DTOTSC or normal BG potions... There must be an error in the walkthrough i have...

There is a walkthrough? It might help if I could see that so I can make sure the author has correct answers for you. Another link here says there is one in Polish, is that what you are talking about? If so, I would need a translation.

Yes it is a polish walkthrough. As i said in the other link i`ll try to translate it when i`ll have some time.
I said before that in this walkthrough it is said that to get to the third level i need a source of light and it says that it is a bootle of oil which could be found somewhere on the second level but i think this is mistake because i`ve checked by loading an old saved game, went there searched all the places on first and secon floor and still i couldn`t went to lower level...

Made a little investigation. Used DS/NT versions 1.80/1.40.
The door can be opened if PC has CBCL009.ITM. This is the Flaming Oil potion, but the item itself is added by SoS, not DSotSC/NTotSC.
I think this issue needs some clarification.

Edit: And also, the string ref for this info trigger is incorrect. It should be "The entrance of this catacomb is protected with powerful magic. You need a key to get inside."

So another item that didn't get changed from the BGT-BP version of this mod to the BGT-Weidu version. Okay, I will see about an update.

This is an old thread, which means that my reply may be out of date, but the object needed to open said door is a kind of bottle indeed that is locked inside one of the several containers in the same level. They are hard to pick, but I found that a 93% chance is enough (while 80% seems not to be) to open all of them.

I thought the item should therefore be added by the same mod that adds the area, but I also have all those mods installed, so I can't say.

The item is added by this mod. I didn't bother doing so in old versions because it was already there in a BP game. The item that you are using as a key now is only in the NTotSC mod and therefore is installed by this mod.
