The only example I can think of right now is BG2's "Helm's Beard!" What else is used? Is there a pattern?

Also words like spear, dagger or sword are often used as phallic symbols .

You forget "By Clangeddin's twinaxes" and "By icy breath of Auril""By the Bitch Queen's Breath" is one. "By Moradin's Hammer" another.
Both, I believe. I'm re-reading Fritz Leiber's "Fafhrd & Grey Mouser" cycle ATM, and it has (although it's not quite FR ) plenty of swearing by gods' main attributes as well as by their random bodypartsSo is the "god + bodypart" a matter of using body parts the god is actually famous for, or is it more or less randomly generated?

I know I've seen "bloody" a few times in Baldur's Gate, and I think I've seen "hells" used more or less the way "hell" is in our culture ("what in the hells?" etc.)...
"Tyranny is a quiet thing at first, a prim and proper lady pursing her lips and shaking her head disapprovingly, asking, well what were you doing (wearing that dress, walking home at that hour, expressing those inappropriate thoughts) anyway? It's subtle and insidious, disguised as reasonable precautions which become more and more oppressive over time, until our lives are defined by the things we must avoid. She's easy enough to agree with, after all, she's only trying to help -- and yet she's one of the most dangerous influences we face, because if she prevails, it puts the raping, robbing, axe-wielding madmen of the world in complete control. Eventually they'll barely need to wield a thing, all they'll have to do is leer menacingly and we fall all over ourselves trying to placate them." -godlizard

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, Champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming WOOHOO! What a Ride!
Some people are like slinkies. They are not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs!!

And I always get the feeling that they copied quite a lot from The Divine Comedy (yes, despite the name it's about the layers of hell) by Dante Alighieri, especially who ends up where.

This is an interesting thread. In some fanfiction, though, I've read very ordinary and vulgar swearing (because the character in question doesn't worship gods, maybe doesn't even believe in them).
"Farewell, Charname, and may Irenicus get you!"
Mazzy to Edwin:
"When science finally locates the center of the planes, I'm sure you'll be taken aback to find that you're not it."
