Hi,
Finally, I'm at the last battle with General Ghotal in NSoSC, but I have a weird XP problem:
As soon as I enter the crypt and finish the dialog with him, my party gets ~30,000,000XP !!! (yes 30 million!). My party member pretty much gain 8 levels! That is far too much!
I don't mind getting 50,000 as a reward for completing the mod :P. It is the first time that such XP problem occurs in my game and I'm about to finish BG1 in my mega install. So far , the XP limiting mod that I installed (for quest XP, learn spell and lockpick) always worked very well.

Can someone help me and tell me what to edit and where?

Thanks

Tired of the same boring spawned creatures u face in BG? Try BGSpawn

It is a known problem. BG2 engine does not allow ou to give negative experience points(which you would get for bringing Ghotals sword) and it gives huge amount of experience instead but i thought that KD fixed it in the latest version

Ha! I remember playing around with the Near Infinity program and looking into General Ghotal's info.
There is a line that, from memory, looks something like that: GiveParyXP:-15000.
If I change that number to any positive number, could it fix my issue or just screw-up my install.
As you may have noticed I'm a newbie and don't understand the inter-dependancies between various scripts...

Thanks for the Help.

Yey, it worked. Using Near Infinity, I changed the negative XP to a positive number (Yes, I shamelessly rewarded myself for completing this very convoluted mod!).

Thank you very much for the help!

Which file is the one that needs to be editted?

With the Near Infinity program, open the AR11PB.ARE
Open the "General Ghotal File" with the View/edit option, then the NTGGHOTA.CRE file, then the NTGGHOTA.DLG.
In the NTGGHOTA.DLG, choose the Edit page, and go to the line next to last. Click on it and it will appear in the bottom editable window. Change the number -15000 to whatever you want (your-number), Save and you're done!.
The bottom righ window in the NTGGHOTA.DLG file should have changed to:

TakePartyItem("NTSWD05") // Two-Handed Sword of General Ghotal
AddexperienceParty(your-number)
Enemy()

Save everything and go meet him in the cavern. Now after initiating dialog with him, your party will gain (your-number).

Hope this helps

However, if you really like the sword, just leave it outside on the ground and go in and waste the General. Then you can have your cake and eat it too,,,

It takes a village...
