...or at least some of them. I know what kind of suggestion I have just made and that firstly we have to complete the joinable ones' addictions. BUT I have been looking through my HD's notes while writing the information threads on HD' forum and I have found few loose ideas I had while writing them down. So, I am telling about them now -- not because I think that they should be done (especially NOW) or anything like that - just because I would have forgotten about them again if I had not shared them with you today.

So the first thing is the 'female Salvanas' -- the idea itself is not mine. It is Sillara's - but it was very warmly welcomed by the female part of the modplayers and someone even suggested that it should be added as an optional element to some mod. I remember Sillara saying that she doesn't mind if someone would expand that idea, too. But, of course, I would ask her again if the thing would be in doing. Anyway, the point is in adding an 'easter egg' non-joinable NPC whom would have basically the same kind of banter with every male member of your party as Salvanas has with female ones. I personally find this amusing but, well, I have a strange sense of humour, so... :whistling: The advantage of this idea is that while musing for some it requires very little work. I mean, no complicated friendtalks or anything, just some quick banter for male NPCs.

Another thing is to add few random replys to for the random NPCs you meet on the streets. They have some funny ones (one of the kids says to Viconia that his mother said that all drows that were not named 'Drizzt' should have been burned, and the other actually cuddles to Edwin XD ) already and it would be nice to have more of that... it is also not challenging... Well that depends on HOW many, of course...

The last one would be adding some little talks to the 'important' non-joinable NPCs like Hendak, Bernard, Bylanna, Aran Linvail or Quayle, for example.

Of course these are just some of the possibilities, and I am sure that all that and more has been already discussed - I only felt that I should throw in few words myself. And I would like to point out that collecting few random talks/replys for the random NPCs is theoretically a lot easier than writing an expansion for the interactions with the joinable ones. I mean, no specific author needed, just some people who would like to contribute few sentences to the project... And anyone on the modding forums could do this. The only thing for the NPCIEP's team would be to gather the ideas and add them in ust *another* optional element of the mod.

Of course it may be that I am just rambling on and littering the forum... :whistling:

It would be cool. I also like those interjections, and the ones that Nalia and Yoshimo have in the Government disctrit with some Nobles. Those interjections help you feel like you are roleplaying, your npcs speak on their own with people they know, they hate, it's great!

The female-Salvanas thing is very promising, so you have a vote! I can imagine Edwin and Korgan's comment about that.

What, Safana in BG1 wasn't enough for you? :whistling:

It's rarely a bad idea to add new content. I certainly wouldn't be opposed to something like this (even though I tend to ignore non-joinable NPCs more often than not these days *cough*).

There's always a one-night-stand NPC: a female or male that will do what one-night-stands do, then go away. Now *that* would offer some really intriguing potential for joinable NPC reactions!

Aerie: "B-but <CHARNAME>, how could you?!"
PC: "I did it for you, Aerie! Remember how you wanted to, but decided that you weren't ready? I wouldn't want to push you into doing anything you aren't ready to do, but I do have needs. Now I'm able to love you without the distraction of leaving them unfulfilled."
Aerie: "That's no excuse!"
PC: "I guess it was worth a shot."

Sorry.

I was so expecting. "I did it for you. She was going to kill you otherwise!" Not that. Definitely not that.

EDIT: Okay, I was thinking that was specific to Phaere. Nvm.

Want to point out to me where to find that girl/guy? Seems like I somehow managed to miss him/her in all of my games so far :P

On the idea: I like it, and like vilkacis points out, adding more content is never a bad idea.

There isn't one... yet.

Aren't there prostitutes, though? Perhaps expanding their dialogues would be a better idea than adding a new NPC for that purpose. (I don't think Aerie will care if you pay for it or not. That's kind of not the point. :P)

Currently pitifully few NPCs react to prostitutes, which I think is kind of weird. An opportunity for more interjections?

Valygar, Anomen, Yoshimo, Keldorn - I've seen them all reacting to prostitutes, and added Xan's reaction based on this, too. I think more react - I've seen it when I was exploring the dialogue files via IE, I just haven't seen it in-game.

And there is a one-night-stand: with a prostitute from the Copper Coronet. Fixpack fixes this, so that Anomen/Aerie/Viconia/Jaheira protest loudly and don't let you in. Before that, however, it was possible to go, and Anomen said something funny about "My lady! Surely you are not... you are just looking for information, correct?" I don't know how mod NPCs react. It's a pretty sad thing, though.

There's another opportunity for a one-night-stand in Ust Natha: the guy who offers you an exotic massage. I don't know whether he in truth sleeps with a PC, but judging by the different responses he gives to a male/female, and the fact that a female PC in a romance with Anomen/PC who has Lawful Good/Lawful Neutral alignment cannot do it, I think it is, in fact, a sexual affair, as well.

As well, there are prostitutes in Brinnlaw - I know that some NPCs, like Nathaniel, have their reactions scripted, too.

Oh, and of course, there's Phaere. (Please, do not make her bisexual :) ).

We will not be making Phaere bisexual, no. ;)

This mod would make a good home for the additional Crazy Celvan's lyrics myself and a few others came up with. You have my permission to use my text from that thread, though obviously you'll have to ask the other authors too.

By the way, I've expanded quite a few of the random street NPCs myself for Lands of Intrigue. Essentially what I've done is to allow you to have a proper conversation with them in place of the random dialogue, retaining as much of their original dialogue as possible.

For example, the original DFISHER had eight possible lines chosen entirely at random each time you speak to him, whereas in LoI the first time you speak to him he'll always speak the line "There be only two reasons to come to the Docks. One, ye has a ship to catch or fish from. Two, yer a no-good thief." One of your possible response to this is "Phew! Don't you ever bathe?", to which he replies with another of his original lines of dialogue, namely "Eh? That smell ye wrinkle yer nose at be the smell o' fish, an' it's what feeds me children, that's what!". Future meetings begin with him saying his line "Bah! The catch o' fish has been awful in the last few days!"

You can also ask him "Has anything interesting happened around here lately?", to which he replies "There be some manner of nobleman down by the docks. Can't believe he don't recoil from all the fish bein' brought in. Strange one, that." If you enquire further, he says "What was 'is name?... Xzar? I think that be it. He was down by the docks last I saw him, looking to employ people like yerselves." (this is a slight modification to the original line, which began with "Saw the nobleman...")

In many cases more than one NPC used the exact same dialogue, and for these I've split the original dialogue between them. Obviously these people require considerably more brand new dialogue to be written ;).

I've also created an optional component that gives all the "random" street NPCs unique names :).
