I finished a BGII game 'bout a month ago (first time, in fact, since I got the game over 5 years ago  ) and I've already started another, which I would be working on right now if I wasn't on such a drawing high :) .

Baldur's Gate isn't leaving my computer anytime soon. It's hands-down the best damn RPG I've ever played. Now if only I could find a copy of Planescape Torment...
"Ok, I've just about had my FILL of riddle asking, quest assigning, insult throwing, pun hurling, hostage taking, iron mongering, smart arsed fools, freaks, and felons that continually test my will, mettle, strength, intelligence, and most of all, patience! If you've got a straight answer ANYWHERE in that bent little head of yours, I want to hear it pretty damn quick or I'm going to take a large blunt object roughly the size of Elminster AND his hat, and stuff it lengthwise into a crevice of your being so seldom seen that even the denizens of the nine hells themselves wouldn't touch it with a twenty-foot rusty halberd! Have I MADE myself perfectly CLEAR?!" -Charname, Baldur's Gate 1

I chose option 3, while I love BG2 and played it excessively, I've been playing lesser every year. My last gameplay is 2 weeks ago but I only played it to test for a mod, not much for its gameplay anymore. Still it is a classic game to me, and won't be leaving my computer.

Still got the Three Musketeers, The Man in the Iron Mask, Sherlock Holmes, Romeo and Juliet, and the Art of War on my bookshelf - and those puppies are much much older...

Morrowind, Neverwinter Nights, PoR:RoMD. Dungeon Siege, Dungeon Lords - where's my NPCs? Where's my interaction? I didn't get far past the first two-three hours before deleting all the above games (except RoMD, but I had an excuse - I was travelling around the US at the time and I needed something to cover the time on flights. Even so, it was a ***** boring game and I took down the bosses at the end in under two minutes - sheesh! What a disappointment!!).

I haven't played BG2 for a while because I'm modding it, but I'm on my fourth romp through IWD and looking forward to starting yet another another BGTuTu - ToB run when the mod's finished. I've been playing the Infinity Engine series for six years now and still haven't found anything else to equal it. I keep hoping.....

I've just bought KOTOR and I'm hoping I'll not be too disappointed with it. It's still going to have to wait until Belhifet gets his **** kicked in again

i don't think BG will get any older as long as there are people like this community continously adding to the game. i last played this game 3 years ago, and i still know it by heart, but i've downloaded a couple of new mods (Ao knows there are plenty out there) and it added someting new to the game to explore.

and i think the results of the poll support what i've just said...

"All things decay eventually" I guess the case would eventually be the same with Baldur's Gate.
The first sign I guess has already been shown, with both Black Isle and Interplay gone and Bioware is yet to say if it'll change it's mind about what to do with the series, and as for the other group, who knows?

I think the main problem with the series, is that the games that came out afterwards started to follow the trend of games these days, less room to explore characters, gameplay, story and all the other possibilites that modders could take advantage of, there's just a lag in spirit now days.

Anyone have a good idea to continue this series before it retires to the tomb? Bhaal was a good topic, but Bioware put a really rushed killer on that one, only a second plan by the old guy can revive that plotline, but then... that kills off the epilogue scripts made for the accension/mortality of the PC.

I would like to see more mods for BG1 myself. The no end game is a great place to start.

Yesterday I got completely fresh new Polish Baldur's Gate Saga compilation (DVD-9) and so far it is the best seller here :)

I would like to see more mods for BG1 myself.

Did you play e.g. Stone of Askavar (CoM)?

Darkside of the Sword Coast is your friend. :)

// End Plug in.

I agree there needs to be more BG1 mods, large mods with lots of quests.
For all of your BG modding needs: Chosen of Mystra.
