Yeah, thats why I said similar, due to the opposite direction of things. :)

Anyways good point, I personally know little of the Signers.
And yeah, good point about Darian and all. :)

Hopefully less gremlins and such popping up before release eh? <_<

The Signers believe the universe and everything in it is literally the product of their own imagination-to a Signer, the people around them exist because the Signer thinks they exist. If the Signer forgets them, they disappear.

Actually only one real bug left in Darian, but it's damnably elusive.

Actually, I'm quite sure Jaheira would tell Riysler that despite his concerns, she is confident in her own path. I think he would raise doubts in her mind, make her question some things, but I very much doubt he could actually terminate the romance.

Riysler sounds like an interesting character. I'm not so sure I like the strong friendship/possible priest who married Khalid and Jaheira angle though. Personally I do not like too much addition to the background of the existing BioWare npcs.
Also, in my mind, I see Jaheira speaking directly to the pc regarding any doubts about the romance. Even if an old friend gave their advice (and if they knew her well, I would have thought they would know better) I can't see her wishing to talk about it with them or be influenced by their opinion. I mainly see her as someone who keeps her own counsel.
Just my two cents. Good luck with this. :)

I think I'll end up removing the possibility of Riysler being the one who married Khalid and Jaheira, but it's a central part of his story that he was an old friend of Gorion, and knew Khalid and Jaheira through Gorion. For the most part, though, I'm going to avoid saying anything about Khalid, Jaheira, or Gorion's past, other than vague references or things that you can already learn from other sources in the game.

And about Jaheira's romance with Charname and the way Riysler reacts to it: Riysler is the one who approaches Jaheira about it, not the other way around. It's a fairly important distinction here that he does not disapprove of Charname's relationship with Jaheira-he disapproves of Jaheira's relationship with Charname. I think that in the end, she would refute his counsel and insist on continuing down the path she has chosen.

Overall, responses seem to favor Riysler much more than Xarana, so it looks like he may indeed be my next project.

Xarana seems interesting, maybe a tad strong in the "death of the whole grove" area. I think it would have been better to banish her. Her attitude that all must turn against each other (as in that Nalia - Xarana sequence) is something that would be interesting in trying to get the whole party to turn against each other.

Riysler seems mildly interesting. Another area of the dark and murky past of the player, would be welcome.

On the whole, however, Xarana would be Preferrable.

Actually, I've rewritten Xarana's backstory a fair amount-at present, she's still come far to the south due to political fallout within the druidic circles, but her circle is still alive, for the most part. She doesn't actually believe all must turn against each other, though-she's quite familiar with wolf packs and the like, and knows well the value of cooperation. Her main aspect of divisiveness comes from her actively hostile attitude towards most of the Bioware cast, the player, and most of the people she meets. Xarana is not meant to be a likable character, and she is not meant to be someone a paladin would be happy traveling with. Here is a sketched out scene that shows Xarana in her prime:

Scene: the little girl in the slaver ship. This occurs after freeing her-Xarana butts in.

Xarana: Halt just a moment, girl. You are free from the slavers, but allow me to free you from something else as well. (Xarana begins chanting arcane words-she is preparing to cast an offensive spell at the girl)

Charname [One of his/her possible responses]: Xarana, what are you doing?

Xarana: Giving this child her freedom from the mortal plane. Better death in Auril's arms than a life of any sort in this corruption incarnate you call civilization.

Charname: Xarana, there is a saying: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Xarana: Precisely.

*Xarana casts a Cone of Cold, killing the girl*

Please do not resurrect old topics.

Darian has a forum; you would be better off posting your comments on him there. If there is anything else you need to say, do it by PM.
