YouTube isn't commercial, and I've already seen Jasper StBaird and DungeonBeGone featured on YouTube, so there is a precendent for that kind of thing.

First off, I just want to say that Jaheira makes my skin crawl all the way out the door and down the block. Sorry. But I realize that I'm quite the minority here.

If you don't want to do dragons, there's a bit of a problem in doing the Windspear Hills quests... unless... yes, that would work. You could have wisps of smoke curling up on the edge of frame, and have a deep, disembodied voice delivering Firkraag's end of the conversation. But you'd never be able to take the paladin stronghold quests, because eventually, you're meant to go back and kill Firkraag. But I'm probably the only one that likes heroic movies here, so never mind the paladin stronghold.

First things you'd want to decide is the gender of the protagonist. That might be decided by the availability of actors who are willing to work for home-movie budgets. If you're trying to do this on the cheap, by all means, stick to a human protagonist. Convincing elves and orcs are going to be a pain unless you've got Weta Workshops in your back pocket. You'll need them for other roles, but most of the face time is going to be for the protagonist, so you might want to make that one as painless as possible. Any class can do the quests you suggest, so that isn't a consideration. I do want to point out that the cleric quests do center around human NPCs, though, so that might be a bonus. There's the Unseeing Eye, but you could probably do that one offscreen, too. No biggie to have a ray of light issuing from the rift device.

Once you've got the gender of the protagonist fixed, you can worry about the romance. If you go with a male PC, you've got your choice between Aerie, Jaheira, and Viconia. If you go with a female PC, you've got Anomen. Mod NPCs are problematic, since not every modder is enthusiastic about others writing material for their NPCs.

I will first off say that I whole-heartedly support this, and that when you are a big famous director, I demand (and by demand I mean really, really hope) that you will make this up to Hollywood standards, with loads of quality actos and effects and such. The quality of which is actually quite low at the moment, but let's not get in to the details.

I also want to say good luck. My cousins and I did a thing like this once as a goofy little project, 'cept we continued from ToB and just made a very poor and very embarassing sequel. Let it be known that the footage has now been thoroughly destroyed, never to see the light of day. It was horrible, but really fun to make.

What my real is point is, and yes, I am slowly getting there, is that I think the vast array of mosters you face in SoA will prove a problem. Too cheap and too lazy to do anything else, me and my cousins made our own monsters, donning £1 masks from a local store, some of which included a fox and a rat. Anyway, what I mean to ask is, how will you go about that? I realise that there's a slight difference between our silly little joke movie, and your one, which sounds absolutely awesome, even if it is a home movie, but it will still be a problem. Do you have any ideas? Does anyone else for that matter?

And for anyone interested, I had a very minor roll; I stood, with a hood drawn over my face and held out my hand occasionally, where we would pause, place my younger cousin underneath my hand, spinning around, and then play, so it looked like she had just appeared freom nowhere. It worked surprisingly well... <_< I even had someone else speak my lines from off-screen (I was an Entity of Great Power, after all!). You'll be sad to know, I'm sure, that the movie was never finished, because my sister and my youngest cousin had an arguement about who would get to use the pretend pimp-stick we were using as a quarterstaff as a weapon in the final showdown. And the fact one of my other cousins actually poked his brother in the face with one of those fire-poker-thingys. Good times...

And no, I don't ramble at all. I have no idea what you're talking about...

You can buy almost anything over the internet: latex for making facial appliances, cosmetic modeling compound, theatrical makeup. There's a theatrical supply store not far from me, in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, that sells just about anything anyone would need to make professional monster getup. But it's a lot more work than just donning a mask.

BTW, I think that Planescape Torment could make for even a much better movie, if you are going for a unique story and developed characters, rather than the visuals of a "Hollywood style" blockbuster.

That's actually what I want to do.

Anyway, I like the ideas... but I agree on the copyright thing, yes. I already thought about it. But I want to finish up the script before even bothering, because even if I don't get permission now, I could use it later when I'm more influential director.

The ideas for the big monsters is pretty awesome. Thank you EVERYONE for your input. Because it's awesome. And I take it all into consideration. I'm going to reply more so later tonight, when I have more time, to each person.
