For some reason, I am not getting the CTB-specific areas that are meant to be on the worldmap to show whatsoever(no new locations on the worldmap, even after using the console to go there - worldmap says I am in the same location as before. I've only noticed it with AR3534 so far as haven't yet found other mod content.

If it means anything, neither InfExp/NearInfinity is showing anything non-default for the worldmap info. This was a fresh install, all mods are weidu.

You need to install worldmap mod.

Oh. I thought that was only needed if you used more than one megamod, but alright. Either way the current game is probably broken in some form.

I just downloaded and installed CtB v1.8. I'm now confused; is it required that I use Worldmap v6 or can I play CtB without it?

You have to use WM6 if you want to install other big mods (SoS, TDD, RoT or BGT). If you plan to play CtB-only game you don't need WM6.

I think CtB v1.9 needs the world map.

Well, I downloaded Worldmap 6.6.1. Except the installation is just giving an error then aborting - does it require BGT or anything beyond a CTB/etc mod? I had a brief look at the Worldmap section of the forums but the only relevant thing I could see, was someone having a similar install problem caused by not having CTB/etc(no help to me).

If needed, I can paste the BP-BGT-WORLDMAP.DEBUG either here or there although if something else is required it might just be easiest to reinstall again.

Well, I finally managed to work out how to make Worldmap installation progress. With the error being about worldmap.tra, I tried several things. Re-extracting CtBv1.9.rar to the main BG2 directory changed nothing(deleted all installer files after installing for cleanup), neither did copying the worldmap folder from there to BG2's main folder, only copying worldmap.tra *itself* to the BG2 folder allowed me to progress.

...and there is no information anywhere saying that was needed.

And, of course, something else had to go wrong. After installing worldmap without any errors and starting on editing the save's worldmap.wmp following the instructions, I notice every area is now named as %name_2%.

Maybe this should carry on in the Worldmap section now.

Thinking more about this, maybe there is something else to the needed file/directory structure than just worldmap.tra in the main BG2 folder. I can't see any such information anywhere, which of course makes trying to get things working bloody irritating - as CTB alone supposedly fits Worldmap's requirements you'd think it would just easily install and actually work.

So, what exactly is needed for a working install?

Thinking more about this, maybe there is something else to the needed file/directory structure than just worldmap.tra in the main BG2 folder. I can't see any such information anywhere, which of course makes trying to get things working bloody irritating - as CTB alone supposedly fits Worldmap's requirements you'd think it would just easily install and actually work.

So, what exactly is needed for a working install?

You need worldmap.tra in your CtB/language folder. You need a Worldmap folder that includes files called map_mods_areas.tbl, map_mods_links.tbl, map_mods_links_patch.tbl, and map_mods_trans.tra respectively. As long as you have all of these files, your Worldmap should install correctly.

Better but not quite right, now - all SoA and ToB areas show on the main worldmap.wmp but no CtB areas.

For the map_mods_... files, are they just blank files(create and rename *.txt) or does something specific need to be copied and renamed? The closest existing files I can see are those files in the CTB\worldmap\ directory of the install *.rar.

No. They are built during the installation of CtB in your Worldmap Directory.

...except all files created by installing CtB are auto-biffed as part of the process(and as far as I can tell you can just look inside them like a zip file). Searching my entire BGII - SoA folder, the only maps_mods... files I see are those I created myself.

But never mind. I give up.

From the CtB .tp2:
//***********************************************************

// Worldmap

//***********************************************************

PRINT ~Updating Worldmap...~

ACTION_IF FILE_EXISTS ~Worldmap/map_mods_areas.tbl~ THEN BEGIN

COPY ~Worldmap/map_mods_areas.tbl~ ~Worldmap~

APPEND_FILE ~CtB/Worldmap/areas.tbl~

COPY ~Worldmap/map_mods_links.tbl~ ~Worldmap~

APPEND_FILE ~CtB/Worldmap/links.tbl~

PATCH_IF (FILE_EXISTS ~data/ROT-RULE.BIF~) BEGIN

APPEND_FILE ~CtB/Worldmap/rot_links.tbl~

END

PATCH_IF (FILE_EXISTS ~data/TDD-RULE.BIF~) BEGIN

APPEND_FILE ~CtB/Worldmap/tdd_links.tbl~

END

PATCH_IF (FILE_EXISTS ~data/SOS-RULE.BIF~) BEGIN

APPEND_FILE ~CtB/Worldmap/sos_links.tbl~

END

//preliminary step - making LANGUAGE temporary file until the new WeiDU

COPY - ~CtB/Worldmap/%LANGUAGE%/worldmap.tra~ ~tmp_worldmap.tra~

COPY ~Worldmap/map_mods_trans.tra~ ~Worldmap~

APPEND_FILE ~tmp_worldmap.tra~

ACTION_IF FILE_EXISTS ~Worldmap/map_mods_links_patch.tbl~ THEN BEGIN

COPY ~Worldmap/map_mods_links_patch.tbl~ ~Worldmap~

APPEND_FILE ~CtB/Worldmap/links_patch.tbl~

END ELSE BEGIN

COPY ~CtB/Worldmap/links_patch.tbl~ ~Worldmap/map_mods_links_patch.tbl~

END

END

ELSE BEGIN

MKDIR ~Worldmap~

COPY ~CtB/Worldmap/areas.tbl~ ~Worldmap/map_mods_areas.tbl~

COPY ~CtB/Worldmap/links.tbl~ ~Worldmap/map_mods_links.tbl~

COPY ~CtB/Worldmap/%LANGUAGE%/worldmap.tra~ ~Worldmap/map_mods_trans.tra~

COPY ~CtB/Worldmap/links_patch.tbl~ ~Worldmap/map_mods_links_patch.tbl~

END

You should have a BGII-SoA/Worldmap folder. If you don't, then try a completely fresh install of BGII and a fresh extraction and install of CtB then Worldmap 6.6.1. It will work for you, honest,,,

Ah... Those last four COPY lines were exactly what I was after. I was too frustrated by everything to think of looking at CtB's *.tp2(it was a clean install to begin with). Either the CtB installation somehow had a glitch, or I'm an idiot who accidentally deleted the indeed-created worldmap folder while cleaning up and needs to be beaten.

Going back to the start of the thread, there needs to be more visibility of CtB v1.9 requiring installing Worldmap - the only mention I could see any where was point 22 in CtB\text\CtB-Version.txt
